    Those snap rings are a pain to take out and put back in. I wound up taking my electric fan out to have more room to work. 07 Classic 1500 with 4.8 LR4 (LS1)
    Also who has the means to torque the bolt to 13 ft lbs (156 in lbs)? Definitely use the old shim if you are using a AC Delco/GM original clutch.
    Oh on the splines on the clutch plate where the shim goes, lightly brush antiseize on the splines to make it easier to disassemble in the future. Mine has the ac belt tensioner (better than stretch belt)

    Hello sir thanks for posting this informative video which I happen to be having the same problem 😂 I’m testing the plug where you used the light but with a test light instead but not getting no power, I checked fuses and all is good. But since you mentioned it only takes very little amps is that why maybe my test light doesn’t pick up anything?

    • @marksplace
      @marksplace  Місяць тому +1

      Do you have a check engine light on? I know many cars won't let the AC come on if there is a problem with the vehicle, even if it's not AC related.

    • @juanalvarado2969
      @juanalvarado2969 Місяць тому

      @@marksplace nope no check engine light. The compressor clutch looks in the same condition as your video, but before I get a clutch kit I wanted to try the test you did with the light, but my test light wasn’t picking up any voltage coming out of the harness that goes into the compressor

    I have a 2017 2500, 6.0. My compressor started to make a humming/rattling noise. Even with the a/c you hear it while accelerating as well as idle. Was that the same for you? My freon is good.

      I don't recall hearing anything other than my AC wasn't cold anymore.

  • @tubergonz

    If the rubber ring in the clutch is shot, chances are the compressor was slugging and you need one of those devices that stutters the compressor at start up to prevent damage. This is the penalty for having the compressor low. The liquid refrigerant sometimes drains down into it.

    I wish you would show how you got the lock ring back on the clutch

      I apologize for that, it was because I thought I hit the record button and instead I stopped it. I remember that clearly because I forgot to stop the recording during the last part leaving me with a long section of recorded video with nothing going on. Where I had the camera positioned it was somewhat difficult to tell if it was on or not.
      I hope all went well for you and that you were able to get it on.

    Mine works fine but won’t stop making a chirping/squeaking sound. If I spray a touch of pb on the clutch it goes away. Would this fix it?

      I would hate to say that it would to only have it still make noise afterwards. Did you try squirting some water on the belt to eleimate it form the equation?

    Just to double check: you don’t need to drain the refrigerant before replacing the AC clutch right?

    Hey Mark, I believe I have the same issue with my 2015 GMC Sierra 2500. I'm Finding that all auto part stores are saying that they don't have a separate clutch assembly, only the entire compressor unit listed. Did you find this same issue, and still just use the part you listed off amazon?

    • @marksplace
      @marksplace  Рік тому +4

      Most auto stores or even shops will only have or install the entire compressor that I've noticed, I had the same issue. The one I have listed is the one I installed, well at least it was at the time I posted the link. Its unfortunate considering the price difference. Knock on wood but mine is still going strong till this day.

    Hey, you dont have to cut the ac belt. There is a tensioner for it. Just under and a bit to the left. I had to replace my ac belt, tensioner, pulley behind clutch on my 07 chevy silverado 2500hd 6.0.

    You should never ever ever ever walk a belt on to anything. Use the tensioner’s. That’s what they’re there for

    • @marksplace
      @marksplace  Місяць тому

      Are you referring to the AC belt? If so there is no tensioner, it's a stretch belt, and is the only way to get it installed.

    Wtf was Chevy thinking?

  • @keithbarnhill1758
    @keithbarnhill1758 2 роки тому +1

    Chevy is sinking low to cost a consumer this price for a new belt because they can't educate an engineer on how to install a tensioner to properly remove this belt. It's all good. I gots a knife but out of money from working on this piece of shit. I used to have lots of love. That's all gone.
