Yossi Sheriff, the AKBAN Academy founder, explains how to use kicks in combination with grappling and throws.
www.akban.org/ - Спорт
Hmm..... These are basically judo throws with kicks to set up the entry.... They will actually work. Which is refreshing after only seeing tons of bullshit techniques from Ninjitsu videos so far :D I think these have great application on the streets and some comps depending on the rule set.
Watch some of the clinch works in modern combat sports and you will see similar techniques in clinch. Especially against the cage in MMA. I don't know about the kicks to the stomach... Without the gi, there may not be enough space for effective kicks and if you try to create space, you also give the opponent the space to counter or launch his own entry. If you already off balanced him by pulling down, wouldn't you rather enter for a throw instead of kicking and making yourself vulnerable?
I really like the oblique kick to osoto gari combo. That is 100% legit and I can totally imagine it working as it isn't too far from chaining any leg trip feint to osoto entry, except you attack the knee joint here. Solid body mechanics and Judo fundamentals here. That knee to the thigh while pummeling for under-hook, at around 20:00, is quite widely used in MMA lol. There are also foot stomping and shoulder to chin attacks which the instructor did not mention. They don't do big damage but it is great distraction and if the clinch fight is extended, the damage will stack up.
Also the heel kick at 14:50 will definitely be helpful. It is pretty much modified kosoto gake. I can imagine myself feinting Kosoto gake but actually doing damages at the same time because i'm kicking the pressure points. What's more impressive is that it is obvious this instructor has solid and detailed understanding of grappling. Fuckin Ninjitsu instructor who actually understands fighting fundamentals! I wouldn't be surprised this guy has background in Judo...
I will be honest here. This is the first Ninjitsu video I have watched that contains anything useful or remotely feasible in real combat and it is all because the person teaching it has realistic understanding of the fundamentals. I came here for a laugh but I ended up learning something. Great work.
Great insights. Thank you for the good words!
It's judo-ish, certainly, but to my eyes the body posture, relaxed and quite straight arms with compact forwards hunched weight positioning and a bandy-legged heel-chopping style with very mobile footwork are quintessentially shinobi.
Ok
@@weareallbeingwatched4602 You short of have it backwards. It is not a copy of judo but that judo's founder studied one of the bujinkan arts, fudo ryu. I am sure a lot of japanese historical arts had throws like these.
@@DouglasEKnappMSAOM The lineage of empty-hand techniques in japanese martial culture derives initially from the forbidden/black market aspects of the assassin's set of techniques, but formal jiu-jitsu was officially endorsed and taught openly as a substitute for sword-duelling by the post-confucianist anti-war movement, and labelled jiu-jitsu, later being modernised into a totally striking-free olympic sport called judo. This is a very judo-ish sort of maneuver.
The issue of the assumed presence of extensive sword-resistant body armour on an opponent on the battlefield is not often referenced or discussed in the limited use of striking techniques or Atemi in japanese martial arts.
That dog is secretly a spy, absorbing your ninjustsu knowledge to relay back to dog headquarters as soon as the seminar was over.

AKBAN Shalom brother. And I thank you and the dog for an excellent video.
AKBAN How to say Dog in Japanese?
Un known enu
Did anyone else notice the ninja that was using ninja-invisibility to make themselves unfilmable?
In the original UFC tournament there was a Ninjitsu guy who won 2 fights but couldn't continue due to injuries from him delivering strikes
If you fart in a ninja dojo it's always silent
Hahaha.
That made me laugh out loud.
Hufffff
harry pot If it's not, then you are not a true ninja XD
Silent but deadly
gyaku kiai
I have heard the fart of death is one of the most effective ninja moves
so these are just normal judo throws with a kick for an entry into the throw ?
Exactly. Regular throws with kicks as setups or distractors
AKBAN yeah ok
Micahiona Viliamu
Ninjutsu hand to hand combat arms were firmly rooted in Japanese jujutsu
The taijutsu they use is appropriately named ju-taijutsu for grappling and gou-taijutsu for striking (ju meaning soft or gentle, gou referring to gouken meaning hard fist)
All the throws and strikes were also used by samurai, but these forms are more focused and being basic and precise rather than versatile and complex. Different job for a different mission. Shinobi rarely fought head on so these are mainly to set up for a weapon kill, which is why the throws are repeated so often with less variation than a JJJ dojo.
Hope this helps

these are jiu jutsu throws with some basic kicks yes judo throws you maintain the hold so you can go for a ground fight is you dont get a ippon and the reffere doesnt stop you
The dog is very relaxed. :-)
He is meditating on bones
My rottweiler will jump in every time someone even just raises ones voice in front of me.
The dog is akamaru, an ubdercovered Ninja Dog of Konoha
Yep
That’s because he’s a ninja!
As a BJJ black belt I'm very impressed. I shall start using these techniques in my take down game, not as a kick but as a pushing in the leg to position my opponent to enter the take downs.
The dog is the best ninja - he is so chilled out that I almost didn't notice him.
Shalom Sensei, thank you for this video. I was a judoka on and off for many years and this video made me see what I was missing in my Sensie's classes. He always told us you will know when you get it right because a light will pop on in your head as it's happening. Seeing it here showed me what I was missing. Thank you! Shalom.
Thanks, the video can be an addition to real world experience
Having trained this for 7 years in similar style , Now trained 20 plus years in many styles , this is a very great demonstration of the skill and perfection of training and loving it. Thankyou for the vid , if I lived closer I would be there in person. Thank you.
I just love how relaxed that golden retriever is! :-)
I appreciate the time and effort you guys go through to share this with the community. Keep up the good work. I preach this all the time during my classes, but it's nice to see a few more examples of using a few different kicks and their setups.

wow, these techniques are perfect for when i fight a judoka and he/she just stands there
wait til you learn how they teach techniques in judo
Yep, wait
@@AcceleratingUniversehe might be referring to the kicking techniques. Judo teaches step to step: meaning the uke steps too. Several of these had step to step, but then several were 3 steps to step
in my opinion, You are better off using your hands/fists, to set up throws. if you bend over in judo, or lift your leg, you are off balance and you will fly...
don't get me wrong, this techniques will work against non judokas...
Kicks are more deceptive, punches are predictable
Interesting
@@joebyrd9141 yah I agree with you with that
Going on one leg while clinched is asking to be taken down. Most setups to takedowns from clinch rely on getting most of their weight on one leg then attacking it as it cannot move. Also, you're pushing into them in the clinch, another no no. That's how you get air time.
Good points. But, there’s always a counter to the counter
most of this was very good. especially the seamless combination of kicking with throwing. I'm glad I found this channel, subscribed for sure

As a person that's trained in martial arts for 25yrs and taught martial arts many years as well, I'd like to say these are great techniques! A lot of these comments sound like they are from rigid mindsets. Each Martial Arts technique is like a book and no matter what style you train in, you want a vast library to pull those techniques from at a moments notice and adapt it as needed.
FYI PEOPLE - THIS IS NOT FULL SPEED AND IF YOU DON'T ROLL WITH THE THROW AND BREAK FALL, YOU WILL FALL AND BREAK.
In the words of Mcgregor, its "upgrading the software, without damaging the hardware."
Thanks for the kind words, Sir
@Chris -- That is all so true. The greats of my era like Joe Lewis and Chuck Norris became proficient in their initial style/art but also moved on to learn from other teachers and arts. Lewis picked up stuff from the likes of Korab, Pennington, Joey Orbillo, and the inimitable Bruce Lee. You take what works for you, and your body to make you the best fighter that you can become. The kids that brag about training for a whole year and that he can beat up anyone from any other style are just idiots.
Sound mind, I can dig it.
That’s all well and good but Connor is using techniques that are tried and tested in combat and then practicing those. Not ‘inventing’ techniques and then claiming they work.
The martial arts world is beyond this now.
As a Judoka throwing and how to get to the throw, or the path to the throw... Is my profession. And to see a man teaching my skill set wrong and making money from it, it is wrong. All of it.
I studied 'Ninjutsu' for about six months a few years back. The art is taught worldwide primary through Masaaki Hatsumi's Bujinkan Organization.
Rather than actually studying how to become a spy or silent assassin (which of course would be ridiculous), we actually studied a range of Samurai fighting techniques, including traditional sword and stick techniques, along with Jujutsu as the unarmed element.
Bujinkan calls the unarmed techniques 'Taijutsu', however - this is actually a generic term in Japan for unarmed martial arts, and the unarmed techniques taught in Ninjutsu are, in reality, Jujutsu.
Modern Ninjutsu is a great example of successful branding and selling a product. As a young man, Hatsumi taught Judo to American soldiers - and my guess is at that time he realised the West's infatuation with the ninja, and capitalised on it with clever marketing. I have no doubt that Hatsumi is an excellent martial artist, and his teachings are true to traditional Samurai techniques, but Hatsumi has acquired much wealth and fame through selling the 'Ninja' brand.
pretty true...and when you bring mistic, weapons etc...you have great product for sell

Thank you Andy. Happy new year
Thanks Sensei, you are a very good instructor!
Love the dog just lying there watching.

I really liked the way this was demonstrated and explained. I have never really seen these type of techniques in video... I have adopted these concepts into my own chinese boxing practice but mainly only through my own trial and error... how might I see more or learn where there is participation? If possible I would love to see more techniques from both combatants in more of a vertical stance... thanks in advance. Great video
Just check our channel. Many techniques with a pragmatic discussion
The kick followed by the takedown you showed is effective I've used it with success before. Thank you for the video and for sharing your knowledge.
The dog is awesome .
I really enjoyed this video. The kick into throw position is a powerful blend of techniques. Being kicked on the inside leg, knee, or shin is painful, especially if applied in full force with adrenaline pumping. In most cases it could off put your opponent for a fraction of a second needed to apply Osoto Gari, Tai Otoshi, etc. In that case the opponent will be on the ground and you will be in control. Kudos!

hi sensei i was wondering if you were ever going to start a dojo in the south of england, i would love to come to classes, after getting very sick and becoming bed bound for months if not nearly a year i have been rewatching videos and sparing with my other martial artist friends and from watching this style i think this would be far easier on my body as im still not back to my old self to actively train instead of MMA which seem to be the only gyms and dojos open in my area. thank you for reading my comment :)

My question would be how many times have these techniques been succesfully tested against judo and mma opponents in a full contact setting?
Maybe
That's so weird i have been learning a lot of these type of set-ups for throws with kicks in Shuai Jiao training recently. Not all because it's frowned upon to use sacrifice throws in Combat Shuai Jiao and you can't use them in competition because of the scoring system but still doing very similar things. Cool stuff you guys!
This is the only real life situation applicable Ninjutsu I've seen.
Thank you for your videos.
Thank you Fabricio.
***** I agree, but I've seen a lot of ninjutsu videos out there that just will not work on the streets, at all, no matter how good you are. These techniques can be applied in fast combat if you trained them good.
We are not responsible for bad Ninjutsu elsewhere, only our own bad NInjutsu
Just One thing to say : did u see the dog??? so cute!
An autograph is possible
Interesting stuff. It reminds me a lot of set ups for Shuaijiao throws, but with different angles for the kicks.
Indeed, some other practitioner wrote that it is similar to Shuaijiao
AKBAN Wish I lived were you train would love to be a student. really enjoying watching your videos :) Shalome!
Always welcome, Xaivier, always welcome!
one of the silliest videos i have seen in a long time. The guy on the receiving end is being totally compliant and not resisting the techniques at all.
"Ninjutsu kicks against a non-resisting cooperative opponent" is the correct title.
Have you ever heard about kata movements?
Exactly
@@prado.arielfo katas are shit
That is to explain slowly if he want to use the "real technique" that will be really fast and hard to understand, this is about how the opponent take his position, if the oppent resist, Akban can move on and use another option, did you know the Judo ? Without kick that its really hard for the opponent to be projected on the floor and when that work you cant resist you Just fall
Here, in the video Akban explain if the oppenent take this position you can do this and play with your own position and you can choose this technique to win

Thanks @bulletsix! Practice safely!
He might as well be doing that to pillows. His opponent is going him ZERO resistance.
It's a fucking demonstration, of course there would be no resistance, they teach you most judo throws that way the first few times.
Most of these throws, throughout the entire aiki-jiujitsu style, are designed and intended to incapacitate or injure the attacker using his own momentum and force against him. It is not profitable to injure your training partner.
@@reflexsc5834 Exactly. Demonstrations for new learners should be done slowly. Speed comes with experience and increased skills of both uke and nage.
Well said
Do people think before they talk?????
Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge. This is a valuable additional information for anyone doing sport judo, jitsu etc as this is a step in the right direction to make their sport knowledge more martial. Be well. Kia ora
Thank you Sir
There are couple of decent setups- one looks a lot like French kouchi, the other looks like a knee to the thigh. All the heels to back of leg or higher kicks will just get you thrown in sport judo or jiu-jitsu where they are looking for small gaps in your balance and lifting 1 foot high at close range=huge balance opening.
Beauty of all these ninjitsu, aikido, shitsudo demonstrations is they work!!!! They work when the opponent doesn't fucking resist! Outstanding
ok
Nice video, any material where the Uke is non-compliant and railing down punches on the Tori?
Yep, a lot of realistic material on YT. Google "war in Syria"
as someone who's competed in mma and love jiu-jitsu and judo I find this incredible..amazing technique people this deserves wayyyyyy more likes people!
Don't try this at home. There is a reason "Ninjutsu kicks" are not use in judo or MMA. If you lift your leg in this way you will have no balance and will end up on the flour in a second.
Thanks @Brent Luder!
maybe, Filip, maybe
Absolutely.
Good luck trying to take someone down with what was shown in the video
To everyone complaining and offering putdowns - every art has something offer. All arts have strengths and weaknesses. Mixed Martial Arts means ... *mixing martial arts* - finding what complements one from the other. Does ninjutsu have weaknesses? Of course it does. Does Judo? Yes. Does BJJ? Muay Thai? All of them do. Adding a "weakening" or distracting move is a great way to counter resistance to techniques and make them more effective. Sure its "just" a kick, or a knee - but then there is the follow up, the foot placement, weight control. Blending. None of these kicks need to be devastating, only to create a reaction you can use. To that end this video is helpful. Before anyone wants to claim bias on my behalf, my background is Muay Thai, BJJ, Filipino, Wing Chun and a little JKD. Not an expert at all, but experienced enough to know the utility of blending.
exactly
Wireline
Even MMA has the weakness of never mastering 1 particular art
No art is completely perfect
Wireline This isn't much different than MMA. It's very similar to Judo except with strikes. I'm sure it could be applied. May work at times and may not. Not all my throws and chokes work. I just throw my tool bag and hope for the best. Nice video.
No. Mixed Martial Arts means testing all the different martial arts against the others to find out which techniques work. These guys fail the original UFC test: would they be able to take on some legitimate boxers and wrestlers, like Royce Gracie did way back when? The answer: no, they wouldn't.
MMA does test only some aspects of no-weapons martial arts
I love the dog chilling at the corner of the mat
What do you do if your opponent actually fights back instead of just falling over?
Maybe you win maybe you loose
Many ignorant people hating on tradicional martial arts since the rise of MMA, with no other criteria than them being traditional, so they must not work. But the problem with most traditional martial arts is not what they teach (it sometimes is, eg. Dim Mak), but how they teach it, as they often not practice aliveness (Randori). However, the Master in this video specifically said at the start that the aim was to be able to use in Randori the techniques demonstrated, by the end of the session.
So what are you guys even complaining about? It's not even as if these techniques were exclusively in Ninjutsu. They are also used in many other traditional martial arts, modern martial arts, Combat Sports, and self defense systems.
Please stop with the hate, and respect other martial artists/athletes, whatever discipline they practice. Or even better, respect every human being you come across with.
Cheers.
@Jormungadr, You Sir, are a gem in the @#$%. Such an intelligent answer is lost here in the general profanity and disrespect of people treating MMA like a religion.
But not with us. Thank you for your observations and insights.
my thought is that these are effective tehniques and all.. but when you compere them to tehniques from more straight up martial arts they are not AS effective. especialy against someone trained to fight.
What’s ignorant is being blind to the fact that the vast majority of tradition martial arts have been exposed as useless yet still believing that it’s magic.
coldworld5 only truth on this channel
I do traditional japanese arts for a long time. Never Was interested in mma. The fact, that traditional arts are still there today is... They survived the old battlefields. So they cant be wrong.

problem with this technique is when u lift leg to kick u compromise your own balance making it easy for opponent to counter
Lifting the leg is for a good humanitarian cause, a groin kick.
These techniques can be usefull but the problem is, when a fight is happening fast lots of the things shown here not gonna work.
People uselly starts with a left hand punch followed by the right hand or a kick. So in training people work with you. In a real fight not. My advice is talk less do more serious sparring and groundfight.
I started martial arts 16 years a go and did 6 years tai jitsu.
After that i trained in boxing and mma.
I can tell you against a good fighter you're gonna have some problems.
Thanks for the advice
Indeed it is vulnerable on its own but consider that it would be used in combination with other hits and moves given that the situation allows it, and for what the dude below said.... Yes mma is faster and is quicker to learn however ninjutsu if taught right could defeat an mma practitioner, though not in mma rules style
0 resistance and the guy moves his leg for you and positions for the throws. this is not something that would ever be useful in an actual MMA fight let alone a street altercation. maybe when you demonstrate, you show the method and then you have your partner use mild resistance against your technique. this is all hypothetical stuff and falls into the category of BullShido.

its called TRAINING you know nothing, you do it to build muscle memory... again something you know nothing about
@@wrongfootmcgee
well i have taken a few BJJ and boxing classes in a an actual MMA gym. also i have had actual MMA style fights (not amateur or pro) though i have never been into a "dojo". also even with my minimal training, i know how to fight and am always willing to spar with anyone anytime. just most people that say they like to fight don't really ever want to spar. i enjoy learning where im weak and where i need improvement. you cant learn your own weaknesses if you don't have someone actually test you with even Mild resistance. I can beat the average person in a fight only from practicing basic boxing and kick boxing on my own (shadow boxing) or with any sparring partners not too afraid of getting hit. i have always looked to fight people either larger and/or more trained than i am, due to the fact i like to have the challenge even if i lose. its all about learning.
my issue is when the muscle memory you are learning isn't actually useful no matter how well you have it ingrained into your memory its not going to save your life or win an actual fight. if you were anywhere near where i lived (northwest in USA) i would definitely love to learn or even test your and my own ability.
no way in hell would i go to a Gracie gym and test them or a boxing gym and test them, i have had my bout's with people trained in those fighting styles and have learned that they are actually useful in real fighting and have lost a few fights/sparring sessions to people that had actual training in actual combat sports.
i knew about Mcdojos and Bullshido for several years now and i always call anyone out on their bullshit cuz i aint afraid to spar. i have all of the gear/safety equipment for any kind of sparring and am always willing to set up a time to spar anyone. but i am also larger than the average guy (6'3" 245lbs) so i like to light spar with people just to test my abilities and not hurt my sparring partner too badly. feel free to think what you want. but i am just giving simple constructive criticism and you dont necessarily need to use it. but in this new age of fighting people are learning what actually works and what doesn't and if you guys dont want to fall into the category of Bullshido you should demonstrate and then test with actual resistance as you would experience in a real fight.
also maybe next time try not to attack my person by making assumptions about me and instead you should attack my argument with actually counter arguments that make sense.
There is more than one way to kill a cat besides choking it with butter.

Thank you Sir,
Really like that fall-to-roll throw very cool technique.
It works if the groin kick is timed correctly
It seems like with most of those throws he had no control of the end result or where he landed. It seems like the guy being thrown could just stand right the hell up afterwards and be a safe distance from the thrower.

These throws are perfect for an opponent who has no experience in combat arts and is not able to give much resistance.

This seems like a historical martial. Martial arts have changed since then. I like that it preserves its traditions. I can only hope that in the future of BJJ there will still be some instructors that preserve some of the already aging guard passes that people don't use as much anymore.
The dog looks bored.
The dog is bored, having seen this exact lesson 4 times this week
So many keyboard warriors lol. Thanks for the ideas. I can see this being applicable in quite a few scenarios. People get confused on shit looking so clean for a demo. Ive been practicing mma, muay thai, Bjj and Judo for years and theres always something to pick up on. You could definitely land these combos if timed right. I really enjoy the concept of using a kick to force them to be based on one leg. Could setup up a lot of nasty trips off that. Maybe in wont look this clean but thats what drills are for. Dont let the wannabe's commenting from the peanut gallery keep you down. Keep it simple and keep training! One love!
True to spirit. Keep training, friend in art!
Rule #1 of internet comments: Call bullshit when someone purports a long list of "credentials".

Have strengths and weakness . That's why all unarmed martial art styles do well in mma, from judo, wrestling, BJJ, karate, mauy thai, taekwondo, boxing, etc etc
Exactly
Exactly
@@NPC-vg8kx says the tit with a fake account and no arguement
Ninja’s did not have their own martial art, this is all make believe.
Maybe
What's your point?
Ninjas didn't even exist. Most everything about them was made up in the Edo period, and Ninjutsu was made in the early 20th century to fool gullible Westerners.
Maybe
@@justtetsuo7175 that's complete bs. They did exist. They were farmers and peasants that learned to use every day tools to ambush and kill soliders and samurai. Most of the ways they are depicted is made up bullshit though.
Wow! this is a lot of knowledge that I will use. thx.
You are welcome, friend. Practice safely
that sternum kick might not look like much but when i was in high school football my teammate hit me right on it with an open palm (he kind of went up straight and up with his angle) and I went down like a sack of potatoes
I'm a judo brown belt and that would not fly..this is a joke lol
Maeda Tyson totally agree
This technique works on guys with balls. Just saying. ..
wow. are you 10?
Yeah, I'd like to see you get in the ring, AKBAN, and show us yourself using this shitty style to fight against MMA guys.
LMFAO dude bring these Ninjutsu bullshits and putem against Judo or even BJJ Blue belts. will get MURKED. will get Dismantled. why do shits like these still exist?
Gee! I laughed my ass off!! I have been practicing judo for 40 years now. One thing that I can tell you : These guy has no clue, has never made a fight with black belt judoka in his life and has never been involved in a fight either.
You laughed you @#$ off. That is one correct fact in your comment.
Kudos.
i can choke these masters in one round
Maybe you can
i literally couldn't pay attention. there is the cutest dog in the back ground!
That dog though. People throwing each other on the ground? Not impressed :D
That dog has seen it all
Dogs have the ability to relax in every situation and go into acton imidiately if necessary.
the dog xDD
The dog is actually rofb
I found my self just watching the golden retriever dog hanging out.
This is amazing - style does not matter, effective matters. The principle is sound and can be applied in any situation.
true words
This will work against an unskilled opponent but someone with skill wont stand stiff like that and make it easy to throw them over your hip. Also, this throw requires clothing to hold onto for leverage .
Maybe you are right, but then, maybe not
challange ronda rousey and see if she can't throw you or counter these holds.
SteelCity1981 fuck that bitch Ronda.. just holly holms
The title and premise of the video is invalid. These same throws are used in judo, traditional Jujutsu, Shotokan karate, Hapkido, and other arts. Event the addition of the kicks is included in judo kata. Properly trained and applied, they are valid techniques. To imply that Ninjutsu is somehow superior to judo because one does a kick before doing Tai Otoshi or Yoko Wakare is bogus. I speak from experience to say striking and kicking is not hard to learn compared to throwing technique. It isn't hard for a good judoka to learn to strike. It's a longer time getting a striker to throw effectively. Pitting one art against another is futile, especially when one has limited knowledge of other arts.
what are you talking about did not see anything related to shotokan
+New Tuber
but MMA will teach you to know what to do when the shit actually hits the fan because MMA gyms actually do full contact live sparing. it doesn't matter how little rules your martial art has, if all you do is drills and katas you'll be unprepared when the shit hits the fan. it's probably difficult to learn how to properly execute an eye gouge or groin shot if you aren't attempting it in sparring.
SteelCity1981 ronda is fucked up..she even cant punch..sorry no more ronda..
Its good to have knowledge of many skills to use !!!
Lots of people forget RANDORI good to see it thanks for the video
Thanks!
yeah yeah... show me this master inside an octagon and let´s watch him walk his talk
Maybe you are right
dont forget they dont use kimono in the ufc otherwise you would see alot of this in the fights these "throws" are very nice but are very hard to do without a kimono to support..
It's also pretty easy to do those techniques against someone who's letting you do them and not offering resistance or offensive moves of their own that YOU have to guard against. I'm not saying this guy doesn't have anything to say or teach but the title is misleading.
The title would be misleading if it would state: 100% guarantee
Brad Walker he might be a máster of coreographics, but no martial arts at all.
