Word. My habit has been to put on music when I walk or run, but I put on a long shoe review for my 40 minute treadmill session today and it went by before I knew it.
I enjoyed my pair of Clifton 8s but I found the 9s pretty boring, good shoe but nothing special. The skyflow seems much interesting for my easy days once the cliftons are done.
You really do deliver with the shoe review! Thank you!❤ looking forward for your upcomig review or the Hoka Skyflow, NB SC trainer v3 and brooks hyperion Max 2. Let's go 🔥🔥🔥
Worth noting Hoka does seem to stand behind their exchange policy. I bought the Gaviota 5 from the local running store and wore through the inside of the heel so I sent them in to Hoka and promptly received an online credit (which was then used to buy the Mach 6).
Love my Brooks Ghost Max! As a beginner runner (only started 1 month ago) those are the most comfortable shoes I have. I switch to Vomero 17s if I want a bit lighter and faster daily trainers. But man, those Ghost Max are super comfy!
Hokas eva foam are vwry inconsistent. Ive had several clifton 7s. One was squishy and bouncy. Next one was super firm and felt like a brick. Third one was somewhere inbetween.. didnt buy more hokas after that. But loved the first one. They also die super fast. Like the foam dries out and deforms. I dont even weight 140 pounds so its not a weight thing. The rocket x2 is great tho lol.
Shoutout the hobby jogger. I just bought the NB 860. I tried the Clifton and just didn’t like it. The NB 860 foam is miles better. Will there be another hobby jogger hat dropping anytime soon?
Hi Yowana! I’ve been wanting to ask this for a long time since I watched your videos. I use stability shoes as recommended on my gait analysis and I have the following on my shoe rotation. ON Cloud Runner 2 NB 860v13 Hoka Arahi 7 Which among these shoes can I use for a marathon race? Usually I use Cloudrunner for speed training and the rest for 1-2 hour run. My running pace is 13min per mile.
😂 Spongebob shoes LOL that accuracy though! Have run in a few iterations of the Clifton (not the 9), but it's a well cushioned easy cruiser of a shoe. Jealous of the mountain running views!!! Enjoy your vacay!
I've been seeded the Clifton 8 and 9, but other than a demo run I only wear the 9s to work since my employer covered it on the condition I wear them to work, and I don't like to mix running shoes with casual use until retiring them from running. The 8s felt dead around 200-225 miles and weren't much fun to run in beyond that but were protective enough to get to 400 miles. I just retired a Novablast 3 at 552 miles and those were more fun to run in at 450-500 miles than the Clifton at that 200 mile mark. I've got a Novablast 4 at 358 miles still going strong and expect to get at least another 100 miles out of them and I'll be getting a second pair. Hokas really aren't built to last and it's funny how many people expect to get years out of a pair.
Haha same. I wear my Clifton’s and Bondis to work, that’s pretty much it. And yes, people come in after wearing them for a full year and they can barely stand straight. They die early, just like On. But SO many people come in the store and want Hoka because of a podiatrist referral or because their friend says Hoka is THE BEST
Got mine up to 300mi, but the fairly exposed foam sole was thrashed well before 150mi and got relegated to the super casual jogs with the dog and/or wife before retirement. I'm finding the Asics Nimbus 26 a better shoe with similar strengths.
Hello Yowana, May I request a review of the New Balance Fresh Foam X Kaiha Road? It seems to be the most affordable variant of Fresh Foam currently. In my country, I found it at a discounted price of $36. I always like the way you review shoes
yeah after running in Clifton 6, 7 and 8, I want something that is more durable and fun. My long runs in Cliftons leave my legs completley beaten up and in the last kilomerters the cushioning becomes too squishy and sinks with every footstep, not a fun shoe for longer than 40 minutes of running.
The hoka Clifton line is the easiest shoe to sell used..I use a lot of them.. the foam doesn't hold up for serious running, but selling them is very easy when the pop is gone..people are always looking for them..I think the mach 6 foam may hold up longer..I always appreciate hoka keeping their drop at 5mm for years and across the line..
surprised you haven’t tried em yet til now! one thing i’ll say is that i loved the ride but durability is kinda bad on this shoe. Mine died about 180 miles on them. It’d be interesting to see if u share the sentiments. you da best yowana
Thanks for your entertaining and useful guides. I wish you could review and compare running and walking shoes for wide/ extra wide and high volume feet.
I watched a few videos where you dropped the Carbon Co reference before I got to one where you were actually in the Poconos. I thought you just came up with that on your own when you were on a run of plated shoes. Knowing where it came from makes it even funnier
Some people don’t understand that we runners are running on vacation because in my eyes it‘s like breathing 😍🙌 The question for me is why would I do an exercise so excessive, time and otherwise if I don’t enjoy it 🤔 That thinking speaks volume of the mindsets of the peoples that believe on vacation we stop running 😁
@@KrisP10 Kris, thank you for the reply! The ride 17 has been on my radar for a while as a daily trainer coming from the Clifton 9. I'll have to try it out. Need something with a durable outsole lol
Ride 17 will be much more durable but the ride on the Clifton was so much more enjoyable ... it's not even close. The Ride 17 was stiff, rigid and unforgiving. The Clifton is basically the total opposite - smooth as butter and a really enjoyable ride. I'd personally take the Clifton 9 and rotate it with something else to get more durability. You could also pick up a pair of Triumph 21 which are similar to the Ride but softer and bouncier - and on sale for around $100
@@supwell Yowana, I never got around to replying back to your comment, but thanks for replying back! I think I might just stick with the Hoka Clifton or the new 361 eleos which is coming out in July, supposed to be an EVA/PEBA blend. I'm guessing both of those options will be more forgiving than the ride 17.
What would you recommend for someone who wants a max cushioned shoe for standing for long periods of time and walking? I’m flat footed and normal to wide-ish feet.
Been running in Hokas since 2015 and the Clifton line since their 2s. They have never disappointed me and I still use Cliftons as my main daily trainer.
Hi guys, can you help me choose one of these shoes : Saucony Triumph 21, Hoka Clifton 9, Asics Gt-2000 12, Puma Foreverrun Nitro, Puma Deviate Nitro 2 Which one is the best for daily use and training?
triumph or Clifton for daily.., try them on fits though.., they are different shoes, trying to accomplish the same thing. The deviate nitro, I bet you can make a race day shoe… but again try them on, check the specs.
Depends how much stability you need and which one will fit you best. The Puma Foreverrun Nitro and Asics GT 2000 are stability shoes and the Hoka Clifton 9 is a stable nuetral shoe. I love the Saucony T21 but I have no stability needs and some people complain the heel is unstable. I would describe it as a springy tank which will probably last the longest of all the shoes mentioned and is the best one for "larger" nuetral runners. The Pumas and the Hoka run narrow but with Hoka you can order wide widths. The NB 860 has gotten a lot of good reviews, including from this channel, so this is one you might want to look at if you need a stabilty shoe for daily training.
Would you wait for the Ghost Max 2 or just go for the Ghost Max? So far I'm not liking the colors for the Ghost Max 2. The Ghost Max would probably go on sale soon.
Hey, I know I'm probably won't get a response to this but it's always worth a try. Recently been getting into running and I think I want to eventually run a marathon. As someone who's getting their first proper pair of running shoes I'm currently looking at the Hoka Mach 6, the Asics Novablast 4 and the Clifton 9. I was told that it's best that I buy 2 shoes and alternate them. Currently i'm leaning towards the Mach 6, but not sure what to get for the other pair (could even get a second pair of Mach 6s). Is there any advice you could offer? P.S. I'm not entirely new to running as a sport. I used to jog on and off and played a lot of sport in the past. The current shoes I've been using are barefoot shoes and those have given me shin splints so taking a small break from running and also realised that I should look into getting some proper running shoes. In the past I'd just wear any old pair of sport-y shoes to run, never really cared about what type of shoes they were.
Hey thanks for the note and welcome back into the running fold! And glad that you've joined the max cushion gang and left barefoot mafia 😂 Mach 6 is an awesome shoe. If you're getting two I would go for the novablast 4 as well. Mach 6 is light and fast and the novablast is a little more built up and protective. I'd use the Mach 6 for those days you want to push the pace and the novablast 4 for longer runs and more relaxed runs

My go to trail race shoe is Norda 001. If you're thinking more about a road shoe, puma deviate nitro 2 could be great for that. I went hiking in it in the Appalachian mountains and the outsole stood up to that really well
Just a quick question for the QandA I'm currently using Hoka Bondi 8s as a daily trainer and Asics Magic Speed 2s as my speed/workout shoe. I've found The Hokas are too stiff and heavy, and tend to cause blisters over 6km in my midfoot arch and big toe, while the Magic Speed 2s lack stability, leading to overpronation and ankle pain. I need a daily trainer and a speed shoe befor I start my training for a half marathon, right now focusing on stability, lower drop, lower weight and comfort without being too firm. I'm 190 pounds and a heavy midfoot striker. Considering the last generation of New Balance due to price drops but open to suggestions.
Btw love your channel it's a very enjoyable format and I love the family vibe that you give off I show these to my Girlfriend and tell her we'll just as happy and healthy soon.
Hey Jordan, thanks for the kind words! I answered this question in the Q&A going up tonight but wanted to make sure I got back to you here too so you saw it. My recommendation would be the Craft Pacer - it has a lower drop, is lightweight and cushioned without being too heavy or bulky. Check out the video I did yesterday of the Craft Xplor - they're the same shoe but different outsole. Here's the info page on my website www.supwell.io/shoes/craft-pacer

Whatever vibe this is, I’m for it
Ur videos r long
The more commenter's comment the longer he makes em😂. The time stamps are what makes them more consumable. I'm sure it's no easy task either. My guess is if I were to make some videos I would quickly realize the pain that Is editing and also realize i would either have to make a lot of content or less content that is highly edited. I believe he has decided on a lot of content and gives us the time stamps to almost self edit.🤷♂️
I love when his videos are 60 minutes long or even longer 😍👍
I like long videos, especially more than 90 mnts, >120 mnts is awesome..
