My $57,175 Pot Against Phil Hellmuth And Jeremy Kaufman!

  • I had an amazing weekend in Philadelphia and the Sugarhouse Casino. I set out to do some commentary on the filming of Poker Night in America, but on the first night, I was able to hop in the game myself. Although the blinds were 25/50, it played much bigger, as there were tons of straddles and some very deep stacks. Today I go over the biggest hand played that night, which involved myself, Phil Hellmuth, and the exuberant business man Jeremy Kaufman.

Doug, I have a hand suggestion. The royal flush hand where a guy was all in on the turn with a set of queens, another guy made the royal on the river and a third guy bet-folded on the river.

The best part was them dissecting your check as if it were a bad move when you totally got the bluff out of it. No way possible you can get that much into the pot WITHOUT that check. Well played, sir. This is why I LOVE POKER. Always variables, always change, always adjusting.

I met Phil at a dinner in Vegas over a decade ago. He was charming and generous.
Good to see his "real" personality come across in your "Hanging with Hellmuth" interview.
p.s.-- Phil's "trap" with AQ was very good considering her could be pretty sure you would raise after him. You having Kings was just a look likelihood hand. That woman with 88 played that hand like she played all night.

When I first subed I wondered how long it would be till he sold and he's still goin and keepin it positive. Somethin real special here but what made me write this comment was the small shoutout to the twitch comment showin me he's still stayin grounded to his fans even the littles detail doesn't get by this guy and he stays crushing it in poker. Hey Doug, first time commenter here. I recently (a few weeks ago) started following your channel and I have to say, I am blown away. You have been able to cement so many concepts that I have heard of/studied for so long with your intuitive knowledge and great communication skills.
I had a question for you if you get to see this, I live in Australia and recently we had our own Black Tuesday. I have not played online in a few years and was just getting back into it, so this is a big blow. I was wondering about what your recommendation would be in improving my game since now I can't really keep a good track of my hands, sessions and in turn my leaks.
Is playing at pubs and casinos and taking note of my major decisions in a session a good start?
Much appreciated Doug and again love the channel keep it going.
Input by anyone is welcome :)

Doug, What I like about your analysis is you are thorough while you explain but you don't overwhelm me with all of that GTO theory and analysis that a lot of these guys like to do. I call it paralysis by analysis. I have been playing for many years and I'm not at your level but In a 5-10 nl game I still find that I can be profitable the old way. Sitting down and just playing the situation and position. I'm not even a huge math guy. What do you think? Do you really need all that extra stuff in your game just to play lower stakes like me?
    Thank you.

I was checking when I'm losing the most hands on poker.
And it's comes basically on pairs witch is lower than pocket queens.
A lot time had to make hard decisions like all in with jacks or tens. I don't have enough strength or how to say will power to muck these hands. Any advice or even video about that will be great.
