The stack sizes were incorrect. Pot was 13.1K, then Doug bet 10.5K on river, which was called. So 13.1 + 10.5 (x2) = 34.1...

I really like this guy. Although I dont think any successful poker player is humble, this guy has a form of vanity that I find very casual and easy to digest. In comparison with more blunt vanities like Helmuth's or Negreanu.
Its a long list, but it has a very special spot reserved for Alec Torrelli, whats up with that guy making such an effort to show us his mansions and only reviewing hands where he is a genius. Doug shows you many hands where he loses, and I dont think many of the others do. Doug relies on your understanding of poker sometimes, he somehow trusts that despite the fact he loses the hand you will be capable of appreciating how good he played it. And that's something great.
Plus this one looks like a cool guy to go out and grab a few beers with. Helmuth would have you 3 hours listening to how good his wife is and how bad other players are, Torrelli would only drink if the glasses have his face on them, and Daniel would make you tip way too much, you know... at the end of the day Its a form of rake, and we all know how much he likes that.
Alec has done hands that hes lost, yes he does go out and about to show you where hes at, but actually he travels around as cheap as he can- and at the table doesnt seem to talk that much and never berates or talks about himself it seems.

I think we should call with the JJ-KK which are diamond club as this blocks 2 combos of Tx our opponent can have. E.g. If we have JdJc here it's impossible for Doug to have JTs

Maybe not for every Poker Hands but once in a while it would be cool to actually go through the combos lab-style to layout the numbers of draws and how from that you construct your precise value range.

how come you would lean toward 4 bet or folding with A10 pre? because it has worse reverse implied odds than other 10s?
Doug I'm really interested how you actually keep track of things when you are in situations where you might, for example, 3-bet or fold (or check/lead, etc.) the same XY hand. Alright sometimes you have spades and clubs to use for your decision, but what about other times? Do you actually think when was the last time you were in such a situation and what did you do then? I really don't understand how can you be even remotely accurate... Also, does a detailed thing such as this really even matter when you're playing live? I mean, you'll have a large enough amount of played hands to even out the variance maybe when you retire...

Wow I just spent 20 minutes listening and dissecting that overbet jam part of Doug's explanation and I didn't get it at first, but it makes a lot of sense now. In case anyone else didn't get it, I'll break it down even more. He's going to be betting the river with value hands such as boats as well as with bluffs. He can't jam the river here for value because he wouldn't be jamming the river with bluffs here. Since the opponent can have Tens and Sixes in her range, Doug reasons against jamming with busted draws. Instead, he makes a more effective bet by only betting part of his stack as opposed to jamming.
What did you play after this table closed that took all of her chips?

Can you dissect this statement? "when you can't create much of a value range it doesn't make sense to bluff much either". Specifically I'm wondering what you mean by creating a value range and why being unable to do it means it doesn't make sense to bluff much.

Well, not doug, but i'll still answer. On certain boards you're not gonna have that much strong holdings looking at your preflop play, because you want to 4bet different holdings than you want to flat (or just raise or whatever). So on certain board your range doesn't hold that many top hands you want to bet for value. Bluffing is simply something you do to keep your range protected. (doug made a video about this 'how i made million dollars') You want to actually have the half of the value bets you make to be counterd by bluffs. So let's say on a certain board you have 6 value bet hands. You want to have 3 hands that bluff. ( note this especially aplies to the river). So to get back why not to bluff much when you don't have that many value bets, because you're than going to overbluff basically. And when you overbluff it's gonna cost you money. So when you don't have many value bets in range you're not going to have that many blufs neither. And you should look to check/call more or check/fold or check or fold.
first of all, thank you for taking the time to write that. when you say keep your range protected you mean to keep it plausible from your opponents pov that you could have 6 value bet hands and 2 bluffs, per your example?
You actually always want to have the 66% 33% ratio as it's most profitable. It's more about that your opponent will be paying you off in the long run because it actually won't matter if you bluff or value bet. Protecting your range is not making it so that your opponent could just fold any hand because you don't bluff, or just call any hand because you bluff too much.

make more money than just your initial odds - if you're in position you have more chance to win and more information so you equitiy in the hand can be over-realised
Little help here. If you have your opponent's value range (5:20ish in the video) at JJ-AA and you flop a pair of 10's, why would you continue to the turn? Maybe Polk neglected to mention the bluff range of E-Tay? He does also mention that this is one of the best flops he could have with this hand, but I'm not sure a pair of 10's, all be it a top pair on the flop, & a back door flush draw is good enough considering the range he seems to put her on? Thoughts?
+Ross Crain because E-Tay can also be bluffing this flop a lot, so we have to call with this hand or else we'll be overfolding.
I would imagine that AK with ace of spades, A2s+, and small to med suited connectors c-bet on that flop. Not to mention the occasional flat out bluffs and the 23% equity even against the JJ+ range, make this seem like a reasonable call to me. But i'm no expert.

Curious what your thoughts are if the turn is a K, A or J? Do we continue then? And are we calling two more streets if they are safe (turn and river)? Say a 2 and a 5? Wanting to see how good we feel. Do we felt? Do we call at least one Pot sized bet? Or only 50% pot bets? Is this the lower part of our calling range so we Raise?

Doug, since you said it doesn't make much sense for you to bluff after the turn, then it makes absolutely no sense for her to call then.
I think he said it makes no sense to OVERBET bluff. He definitely mentioned some bluffs he could have on the river, precisely spades and clubs are most likely (and that's what makes red jacks a good bluff-catcher).

The point is that Esther, knowing Doug's strategy, should have known to fold after the turn.
Ι dont think that GTO works like that, putting some T on your turn checking range so you can play the river, you should always take the more +EV line and balance the range that has same EV outcome, betting here with any T when you gonna have more T in your range is good to balance with your draws, and as you said, if you put some T in your river range, you gonna have more bluffs on the turn, if you lead all the T you can bluff more effectively with other hands too, a T might get 3 streets of value with lead lead from a check call range like AA-JJ, while if you bluffcatch the river its only one street, so if she has a bluffing range on the river it is fine to call with some 99 88 and fold air, while if you call the river with a boat you might put the 99 88 on your folding range cause you gonna have some T too,overall making it not the best Plus EV strategy if we were to run the situation infinite times, or i am just a mindfucked 5NL GRINDER BOYS,

Masticlox Poker He has to work in some checks on the turn to protect his check range on the turn with some hands. When playing GTO it's rare that there's a spot where you always bet on a particular street.
It amazes me how some of these poker players have money the way they play poker such an obvious fold on the river

How is he guessing what the opponent might have? How is a 6 uncommon if there's an equal amount of cards in a deck? How can he guess in every video?
Joseph She 3-bet pre-flop, and no hand with a 6 has any reason to do that. Hands like pocket sixes, A6 suited and suited connectors with a 6 might call a raise, all other hands with a 6 go into the muck in that spot. If she was initial raiser and he was the caller, then it would be a completely different hand, and there might be some probability of her having a 6 (with one of the hands I mentioned), which is why position matters so much in poker. As played, you will see a 6 in her hand about 0% of the time at this level of poker.
Hitting the 10 on the turn was pretty favorable. But what are your odds of getting into that girl's pants after taking $17 grand off of her in one poker hand? I have to imagine that the relative probability is reduced significantly.
