James O'Brien praises counter-protests after days of rioting in the UK | LBC

- As thousands of peaceful anti-racism demonstrators appeared to quash fears of further violent disorder on Wednesday night, James O'Brien discusses the scenes that unfolded.
There had been talk of more than 100 planned protests, which led to shops being boarded up and people being sent home from work.
Police were braced for over 100 far-right rallies with 6,000 officers deployed across 41 forces. However, instead, large numbers of counter-protesters gathered in areas including Walthamstow, east London, Bristol, Brighton, Liverpool and Sheffield.
'Their faces were a picture, because they couldn't get out', James stresses.

"Marooned in an ocean of decency." Genius.
Long may it continue. Unity, Peace, and Love. Violence is boring and pointless.

I'm a brown african/British in the Army. I am passionate...sometimes emotional when I think, feel and talk about the United Kingdom, beautiful England. Everything about it. Its a beautiful wonderful beautiful place. This is why this makes me want to cry. I salute you Great Britain
I wish the British education system would have that attitude. If you were a teacher you’d be ostracised.
Just so you know they will always think of us as lower to them, I used to always defend this country, proud of what it had achieved, but looking at these riots has shown me what they truly think of us. They view as all as the same, whenever one of our own do something bad, we’re all bad, and they would wish for nothing but us to be deported. I’m fair but still ‘brown’ and ‘M.uslim’ for them.

Don’t be fooled. There was a fake report that targeted 30 towns and the media said it was 100 towns. This from a random telegram account with no followers. One guys post, led to massive police response nationwide, where the police scared locals all day into thinking Armageddon was coming. Locals in response wanted to protect their community shops and homes… the police commissioner on live tv said the world holds it breath and Wednesday night would be a dark night in British history… nothing happened, and they protested thin air. However the police did bait the far right into coming by setting up areas for them if they wished… this was government orchestrated to build political support against a rising anti immigration sentiment. I have been listening and watching your programmes for many years and have on the main agreed with your perspective on most subjects. On this occassion i think you have missed the fact that there is a very real underlying issue that is in desperate need of resolution and that is the fact that this country and many other countries in Europe are being overwhelmed with the level of migration especially from people that are unable to integrate, dont want to intergrate and who want laws and customs and the norms of society in this country to be changed to what they feel comfortable with. I am an immigrant who has benefited from the freedoms and opportunities that have been made available to myself and my family and will always give my loyalty to this country. There are people that feel so marginalised in their own country, who cannot , for whatever reason improve their standard of living for themselves and their families and are now also feeling outnumbered in their own neighbourhoods that makes them vulnerable to all the hate and resentment that you see on the streets now

It is a fact that immigration is no longer sustainable at it's present rate in the UK and that is the overriding issue here. It was averaging a net 40,000 for decades. We have had a net 2,000,000+ in the last 2 years. We do not have the infrastructure to support this This will not be fair on the people already living here, previous migrant families included, who did not ask for this. This overcrowding will increase racism from all groups. There will be immigration from countries that are at war with one another or have historical grievances. There will be a shortage of resources and a lack of housing that will make the public resent these people, no matter how innocent and decent they might be. Holding up a placard that says 'immigrants welcome here' with no restriction on numbers is virtual-signalling of a thoughtless kind.
Overcrowding? What's the population density of the UK? 280 people per square kilometer, its 5640 per square kilometer in London which is probably the densest part of the UK, it also has the best infrastructure and investment so that already derails your arguement that population density is inversely proportional to the quality of services and infrastructure.
The population density is 8332 per square kilometer in Singapore and their gdp per capita is nearly twice ours, their healthcare system is one of if not the world's best and they rank number one on most surveys for the best infrastructure. So that completely undermines your basic point of us not only being overcrowded but countries being unable to handle "overcrowding"
The population of a country determines that countries power, if you have a government too incompetent to wield that power you end up where we are today.
@@robbo8201 wake up
The statistics shared by the government show that the majority of the rise in immigration is on work visas. We're not fulfilling the needs of businesses in the UK. That's the driver behind the increase
@@PP-bw8ig I suggest you check countries that are overcrowded, need to remember UK had to bring workers from abroad as there’s lots of jobs the British don’t do
@veganforever9703 the irony of people brainwashed by Facebook memes and people like Farage telling me I need to wake up, a basic Google search or a look out of your window will tell you the UK isn't overcrowded you turnip.

Tax the insanely rich. Immigration isn’t the problem. The problem is the gap between rich and poor is too large. The rich have bought too many assets and are holding the poor to ransom while deflecting on immigrants.
