We have an appointment tomorrow to get work up done for myobrace for my 10 yo. I discovered orthotropics a couple of weeks ago and love the concept. What would you recommend? Proceed with myobrace or seek out our nearest orthotropics provider (who is roughly 5 hours away)?
I hope it went well! The main thing that is important to me is that the dentist talks about the airway space, tongue space, nasal breathing instead of mouth breathing, and forward facial development. If they do then you're in good hands :)
Yes, just do your research and find the best person you can in your area. Even if you have to drive an hour or so for appointments I think it's totally worth the drive :)
@@sarahkh12Hey Sarah i want to know is it possible to expand the lower palate and make a space for one more incisor using appliances to a person who is in his late twenties or early thirties?
Quick question, Sarah. When I fully engage my tongue on the entire roof of my mouth, I feel as though I am not able to breathe through my nose. To accommodate, I have to lower the back half of my tongue down, and subsequently I cannot maintain the full resting tongue posture for more than a few seconds at at a time. Any suggestions on how to approach this issue?
I've thought extensively about this, and I've jimmied inside my own mouth more than I'd like to admit to figure out why this is. I think that we are sort of 'overshooting' the amount of hard palate we have. By resting our tongue on the roof of our mouth we're essentially trying to support the lower jaw (and subsequently also the nasal septum) to promote proper growth. But you should also remember that the oropharynx begins just past our soft palate, so it makes no sense to block it with our tongue, it will only obstruct our breathing. Don't overthink it--just keep your teeth together, chin upright, tongue on the roof of your mouth--and don't obstruct breathing trying to do so. You're more than likely overshooting and you're just covering the fauces of your oropharynx :) I'm also new to this subject, so take all of this with an anecdotal grain of salt.
You have to be your own boss. Open a clinic. Orthotropists are so rare, that wherever you''ll settle, more clients will apply that you can serve, people will fly in to meet you. Check this: orthotropics.com/educational-centres/
i will be going to london to learn more about orthotropics , iam final year dental student plz tell me the llocation of institution and other resorces , really intrested
I have a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene, haha. Thanks for asking. I don't practice anymore though... You can get training in myofunctional therapy with a background in speech, dentistry, and physical therapy. It's pretty cool!
@@sarahkh12 I think it's fabulous that you've chosen this route. I got so fed up with "muggle" dentists wanting to have my head broken open that I just stopped going to the dentist. It is so ridiculous of a "solution" that I can't fathom how they can make that recommendation with a straight face. (And 80-90% of people don't like how they look after braces and surgery-- look at the real self results; and many others can't feel their faces, and even one lost her SOFT PALATE. So, I have no faith in spending $50,000 to endure such trauma and pain to a perfectly healthy set of teeth and gums, even if one part makes me look like I have a long face. They allege I have clicking and TMJ. Anyway, thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!! I'm hopeful from i t.
I have a severe overbite can't close my mouth properly was told I needed headgear Herbst appliance jaw surgery and extractions plus pre braces and regular braces (this was at age 9 I'm now 24 and still have a bad bite because we didn't do all that just the braces)
Never use Herbst appliance!! And don't get jaw surgery!! Don't get extractions!! The Orthotropics channel has video's on all these subjects. Just search here: ua-cam.com/users/Orthotropicsvideos
@@kittendivine1 wait....I thought the Herbst appliance is okay to use if the mandible is too far bacK? Otherwise, the condyles are distalized and prone to issues.
Hi , I’m 15 . Do you think orthatropics could be suitable for me? Could my maxilla grow forward. Because I have an underbite but it doesn’t get in the way of eating, breathing, etc.
Great video Sarah, M
Thank you! I hope I explained it all as well as you would!! :)
I want to learn it!!!!
I'll do that for my future child/children
Thank you, this is a clear consolidated explanation that I can refer others to, to help them understand quickly.
Vlog Creations ross?
Yes, great video. Thanks!

Sarah Hornsby Got it! Thank you for your response! :)
Will orthotropics fix uneven jaw growth of a 13 year old child? The jaw is shifting to the right and there is TMJ pain and clicking started already.

Keep trying and it will get easier with more practice :)

Are there a lot of jobs for orthotropics in the U.S. or any other country? And what kind of school should you go to/classes should you take? Thank you

But orthotropics uses badgeds or are just exercises and tongue posture??
No one explains it properly
I thought orthotropics is for kids only, can you actually do orthotropics as an adult?
Well not because it's more difficult to change habits, because bone remodels much slower.
That's the aim of their research currently. Can't adults be cured? They believe it is possible, but like others have said, it takes time. Lots of it.
WIll myo exercises help move my maxilla forward?
Yep! For sure! It just takes time :)
No if you’re done with growth, your sutures are fused and only surgery can move your maxilla
Is there anything I can do for my asymmetrical jaw and cheeks?
Are you not able to change the face as an adult. I am 25 can I still have facial growth forward when I do orthotropics?
Can I use this to help with my recessed jaw as a 25 year old female?
May I ask what your credentials are? Not being snide, just curious.

Hayley Lane yes, it is perfect to start now since your bones haven’t fully hardened
My son is 9, is it too late for him to go? His lower jaw comes out a little more and will probably have an underbite.
Sky Elite 9 is the perfect age since he’s still growing he will see big results 😁
I cant get my tongue flat at all, is there some kind of retainer to help get it going in the right direction?
Say the word "Sing", remember the tongue posture. And that's how you do correct tongue posture.
I talk with my hands too.
I'm Italian.
Wow
