    "Im a big believer in the idea that music theory comes out of music. It's the explanation of why things work, it's not the formula for things to work."
    I think Michael League worded it perfectly

    • @AnthonyElsetinow
      @AnthonyElsetinow 3 роки тому +3

      It’s been said before... victor wooten talks about that a lot where theory explains what you do, not tells you what to do.. in so many words and I have always known that. People learn to talk before they understand proper English, if you speak English that is.

    Its hard to think of anyone in the music industry who's more busy than this guy. Michael League composes and arranges 24/7, runs a studio in Brooklyn, produces for multiple artists, books world tours, manages a record label, promotes an entire music festival and multiple bands on social media, leads a band of 20+ people who all have different ideas and personalities, does clinics around the world, etc. The amount of raw work and hustle within his body and mind will go down in history as one of the biggest forces in Jazz and in music.

    Love this interview and it's definitely circulating in my inspiration tank these days! It's awesome to get a little background to the band's process and how they manage to pull off what they do. These guys are such a positive force for REAL music these days and their hustle is awe-inspiring. All that said Michael just comes across as a humble, genuine, artsy dude who's primary focus really is all about the music. Thanks for posting this up!! 👏🙌🎶
