I didn't know Thomas Muller could play the bass like that. Such a multifaceted individual🙂
actually the first time I noticing it and I can't stop laughing... thanks for that xD
Thought it was Michael League. He is well known for pulling faces
@@andywright8803 Yeah, he is Michael League from Snarky Puppy, but he actually looks a bit like Thomas Müller, the football (soccer) player from Bayern Munich. :D
@@andywright8803 welcome to the joke...
LOL… I exactly thought the same 😂 (Thomas Müller)
WOW. that crowd engagement is next level
We're cool like that here in Brazil! :)
It's a crowd full or musicians
The guy in the audience in red shirt, on the left, is the real star! He even tried to lead the the rest of the audience at times xD
I adore this audience, the vibes in that room seem top-tier
Where was it? Looks like a workplace of some kind.
@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 no clue, but Timothy always links the original video or audio in the description when possible.
It was in Brasil
Bass player was having the greatest day of his life.
Michael League always looks like that. He gets into it.
I can understand his feelings. Not everyday this guy have a chance to play with a great Cory Henry. Oh, wait..
@@passenger911 unfortunately, since Cory left SP, Michael hasn't had the chance of playing with him every day. It's videos like this that make me want to watch Cory still playing with them to this day
@@Chris-px2gfwhy he left
@@fx841 probably doing his own thing now. Cory Henry and the Apostles, I think?
That white boy on the bass is stamping so hard he went from Michael League to Michael Leg.
Quoting yourself is the jazz equivalent of the ego trip and i love it
so I'm not the only one who hears the Lingus solo at 3:35 and 4:35?
In improvisation we all have our vocabulary and tend to say/play certain things over and over again because we know it sounds good and it works. Its not about ego or anything like that.
pretty sure 3:35 is a chromatic circle of fifths progression which is extremely common in all genres of music including jazz, so it makes sense that cory incorporated it in both solos
@@empowers67 oh boy you must be fun at parties lol
@@floriansee9995 its just theory…
I wish his studio albums would give more space to his keyboard improvisation. It's so great.
I love Corey telling the drummer "sidestick" at 1:11, sets that section up perfectly.
2:08 shows how much fun a few funky notes can produce and i love it
I've probably watched that full video like 30 times. Cory is one of the best, and him and Michael always had a great chemistry as well.
They've played together for a while now. And they always seem like they have a great time. It comes across in the music
Me too!
They make such a great combo!
Seen this video so many times. That melodic world Cory entered from 3:00 - 3:45 is the sweetest melody I've ever heard in my whole life. I hate what his left hand was doing cos that was too good. Who in the world is this skilled?
3:12- 3:23 is so incredible... what a genius
Honestly I dont know where to start to sound like that. Is a Masterpiece
Yes! My goodness. No clue about the actual harmony there, but oh my, does he make it sound so good!
@@michalmalicki9613 from a quick glance / listen it's sort of Vm/I > VI > IV > IVm.
You get the sussyness / tension of the Vm/I, lovely rising feeling when we move up to the VI, feels like we're going to IIm but in reality we go to something close to that, IV, then the change to the IVm which brings such a strikingly 'nostalgic' feeling, true musicality on Cory's part.
Beautiful progression especially seeing as everything has been quite sussy / grounded by the tonic pedal up until that point.
@@michalmalicki9613 if you know very little about music theory like me, let's just say I saw a Stevie Wonder apparition in that room right at the moment those chords began
For more of that motif check the lingus solo out it's awesome
The nod to the lingus solo was fun. I loved how every time he did so the crowd went wild
the discipline from michael is A1 & the overall funk is insane🔥
Michael is holding back SO much, so many people would overplay in this situation and he’s leaving all the freedom to Cory rightfully
You know it’s a crowd full of musicians when they’re singing harmonies😂
That descending bass lick at 7:07 is wonderful
Mmmh so tasty
Bassist is just happy to be there.
That bassist is Michael League and is the literal genius writer, composter and arranger beyond all of Snarky Puppy's music. He IS the brains of the music.
get yourself someone who looks at you the way Michael looks at Cory.. 😂😂💀
You can’t beat Michael League’s facial expressions!
3:12 - 3:22 took me out. That is so beautiful
Sooo sweet and gospely 😍😍
Yes! Isn't he quoting something? I'm trying to figure out what it is. That little melody sounds so familiar and the crowd goes wild as well when he plays it.
@@julienkent2021 I also recognise it, it's definitely a quote of something. Just can't think what!
@@JakeMDavey I think he is quoting his solo from Snarky Puppy
@@julienkent2021 quoting God
not just some of the deepest grooves but some of the sickest gospel voicings and hippest neo-soul embellishments since Stevie... absolutely disgusting, and superb transcription; subscribed !
Such a great atmosphere
i return to this video every 2 days and it gives me so much fun each time! so addictive
I've watched this video some 80 times... Many years ago. Is one of the best of Cory and Michael... Simple genius. Continuum Is also a fantastic video
Same hahah
Man, this is just filled with so much joy! I’m grinning!!
Such a legendary video, it's really worth it watching the whole thing
The beginning of the solo on the second synth is unbelievably similar to how TOTO used to sound in the 1980s (in my opinion). Also, I love the public singing these little phrases he comes up with later on (Freddie Mercury and Jacob Collier would be enamoured). Great job on your part.
Definitely hear you on the Toto front. The patch reminded me of the keys on Pamela, and the form of his soloing definitely fits with their style too.
Absolutely love this! Bring music back like this along with the live playing! This is what I would love to see return!🔥🔥
YES! One of the best jams I've heard in my life!
Loved every minute of that jam we need more sessions like that's the way it used to be
Thank you for sharing this and for puting out all this great music with notation. Yes, I’ll subscribe 🙏🏼🎶🌱
Huge props on transcribing this awesome jam. Wouldve killed to see Snarky with Cory back in the day.
It's so fun to see people having a genuinely good time
It’s crazy they are so connected it’s like on A different level! Goosebumps here guys! Thank you!
I am not sure what is more impressive: the actual playing or transcription of this session.
This moments always bring me a big smile: super cool.
Legend says they are still jamming that groove today
i've been watching the og video at least once a month for years it brings me so much joy
This is just too beautiful to watch...music is a love language...
I've been obsessed with this ever since it got released. I love at 2.20 where they are vibing so hard together
this is by far one of the coolest little jams I've seen in my life.... and: always just pure joy to see Michael freakin out life on stage ^^
My fav is League and Henry playing Continuum. Legendary. This is session is f’n awesome too
Doing gods work man, wouldent have found this recording without you
I wish there was a downloadable version of this. It’s amazing!
I remember adding this video to my "Watch Later" years ago. Glad it showed up again.
Yep when Cory Henry gets into the zone , he's just brilliant !!!
i love how lost cory gets in the sauce while he solos. the look on his face is pure love for his craft.
He does these weird "ah yes, that's what we're doing, bet" faces when he plays, hahaha I love his weird energy
I loved that concert, it seemed simple and almost subdued until people started literally leaping out of their chairs
i was in bed, now im dancing round the room ahaha
What an amazing, groovy and truly inspiring performance this is! Cory Henry is one of a kind. And a big shout out to the man who transcripted the whole song: Timothy Gondola! Great job, man! 👏👏👏
I love it when titles hold true to the content produced. This session was indeed funky! Lol 😆 👏🏿🖤
Damn, these vibes are amazing!
Michael League ... the man who plays bass with his face. That session was awesome. I recommend to watch the whole session.
those dudes are gold man
Mind blowing chords 😮
Corey Henry has been hitting home runs for years now. It's not human at this point.
Best session ! Bass guy - i love you !
JESUS thank you for such a sweet funky beat.
Are you freakin kidding me?!??!? Dude! That was amazing! Inspiration!!!
Wow is this just fun to listen to!
Those after church jam sessions hit different
Holy shit!! Corey you are the grandaddy of amazing jam sessions
holy .... god i love this.
It's always a nice treat when the audience is musically competent.
cory is pure magic living legend
I feel so happy
Mega gracie ten jazz na waszym kontynęcie to korzeniami tradycja, waszych przodków od negro spiritual, blues styl, improwizacje macie to wasz glos sposob gry poczucie i zabawa harmonia jazzową brawo 🎶🎹🌍👪👏👏👏
Love the weather report vibes.
wow the ending is amazing
Awesome 🔥
I was hoping for them to do some double time church at the end lol 😅
damn I was waiting for someone to do a full transcription of this, and who else but Timothy Gondola
Bro. This is the funkiest thing I've ever heard!
bravo les mecs, génial
this reminds me of zawinul. his technique is so supreme that he can just play anything at this point which gives him all the musical freedom - no need to show off!
Yeah, when Cory calms the initial dominant vamp -down at 0.58 he goes to that Zawinul feel and triadic vamp from which he ascends to heaven with his major9 gospel mastery like George Duke on expenses-paid vacation...
Henry is in a League of his own!
Cory Henry reminds me so on Joe Zawinul. Both are real Genius. Greetings from Vienna
I didnt know that Thomas Müller plays the Bass so well.
Love how Cory is channeling Joe Zawinul ❤
Cory Henry is my hero and I don't even play keyboard
I feel like when he starts this riff in 6:03 it's like a reference to something? I would love for somebody to explain. Genuinely love these two playing together. Cory is a very talented musician and composer. Wow. Just wow.
The whole crowd was the JAM 👍
YOOOO the reprise makes it go 10x harder
That was so good
That was cold as hell !
Praise the Lord for this piece of music
Best crowd ever
bass player was ready for anything but you blew his mind time and time again.
He really made those keyboards sing
They both look so young here, this might be the birth of Snarky Puppy at least in my heart of hearts...
Bass player having the best day of his life so far
wow that was wild and crazy
these guys all go crazy for spicy notes lmao
El mejor indiscutiblemente.
what I would give to be there. wow!
Nobody but nobody weaves a colorful joyspell like Cory!!! ❤
On repeat for 24 hrs!
Audience at 3.40: "Hell no! You DID NOT play that!" Bl**dy genius!
That there is FUN.
Michael Cera on bass! Killin
Wooooooww !!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
