Yes BUT. lemme explain my story lol. I'm in a very musical family. My 4 brothers are better musicians. I say my skill in musicianship is about average and unpolished. But in producing im the better producer. I can imagine the "musical elements" in my head and ask one of them to follow me and pull out a produced song. But I could definitely say that if I were a better musician I wouldn't have to be limited on the decisions I face during production. Like I can imagine in my head what I want to hear but I cant translate it well to my sessionist and sometimes settling with another style.

It's always so inspiring hearing Jacob speak. I think the most important portion of this chat was the discussion of just exploring the music and playing with it instead of being concerned about the technical knowledge of it. Funny, that's something I realized early in my political career. It's easier to do things if you don't know it's not possible.
The corollary is that it's easier to get things done if you don't care who gets the credit. That one's especially important in politics. 😁

Every time I watch his live mix sessions breakdown I always wondered who the heck mixes these and what a perfect video to have his mix engineer as well. I laughed as you asked the question is Djesse volume 4 coming then I remembered in one of his mix breakdown on a Djesse Vol 3 song which the album (then) was not released yet and was already mentioning he had vol. 4 in the works already collaborating with many many artists. Hear, hear - at around 00:09 to 10:00 Jakob says something about following what we like. That just nails it, to me. YES, education is something that is done to you by others, and learning is something you do for yourself! Jakob, I am not only impressed by the music you write and perform, but to stick with what you want, to tell a certain Mr Jones that you´d rather be friends with him than to jump onto his offer straight away, that is something so strong, I am definetely learning from that!! I had a thought about your last question, Warren. No one is teaching (I think) young musicians on laptops or iPads. They are teaching on real instruments. Not saying that people don't self-teach that way. This is a good thing and god help us when guitar teachers teach guitar on VSTs. (Although, teaching aps are cool you still learn playing the real thing.)

Well, that's not quite true. I am a 66 year old lady and follow Jacob and his music for about 10 years now, went to his One Man Show concert in Berlin and can't wait for the world tour to come to Berlin. I am happy to have tickets and it's sold out. Believe me, he has massive fans around Germany.
