I just love the way Julia does these interviews. She’s definitely a fan of Michael but her interest in music (and bass) makes this conversation so interesting. Thanks Julia!
I enjoy interviews with this gentlemen . He's extremely knowledgeable yet doesn't bring an enormous ego in tow . Needless to say Julia is an excellent interview . Doesn't interrupt the flow of the interview and knows the right questions to ask .
The thing I love so much about Michael is,he doesn't think he's anymore important or special, than anyone else in Snarky Puppy, he's the best bandleader.
I watched this for the second time, maybe not the last one. These two guys are gems. Julia is so natural and interesting unusual questions. It’s great, I wish to see more of your interviews Julia. Tony Levin and Victor Wooten are extraordinary too, please, give us more 🙏
Hey Julia .. somehow I missed this when it 1st came out . But at 3am now it has really lifted my spirits ? inspiring chat . I had never heard of Michael or his band b4 so thanks for that . I had been in My Studio & getting very stuck .. so many new things to learn & it is a a struggle sometimes .. But if I look back now I can see how far I have come . It was wonderful to watch you juggle .. You are learning so many skills .. just becoming comfortable in front of Cameras is a skill in it's self & to interview people so well .. I have been practicing my Harmonica when I am out early in the Forest ( no one around mostly ) I found a girl who gives out lessons with Tab & helpful hints .. on U tube .. & I also take one of me pairs of Drumsticks with me so I can practice on odd things like Gates both wooden & metal .. I know I will never be Steve Gadd but I have fun ... I hope that you are following your 1st Idea of becoming a drummer .. It would make a good series of videos / content if you went around in the Thomann Shop & put together a set / kit of drums & filmed your journey .. perhaps over a period of time ( in secret at 1st ? ) & then showeing how you chose each part of your system. I started with an Electronic Kit & altho I love to play it when I can .. it makes so much noise ( even 'tho I am wearing headphones ) it is very difficult to find time to practice . So I have been dreaming & scheming how I will build up a small set up .. just Basic like Charlie Watts .. one of my favourite drummers .. Anyway enough of me Stay safe & keep juggling . & the unicycle .. I used to know a girl who did an Act with Fire & juggling live flames .. She had been taught the secrets of controlling the Fire & said if you were careful it was just as easy as throwing the knives Lol . But she was an act in her own self anyway & used her skills to make money at shows . Oops I am still here going on .. Well many years ago when I worked in the Swimming pool I did an act where I was tied up in a sack & thrown into the pool . You have to have a very trusted assistant to do this trick But once you know how it is easy . Bye I could hold my breath for a long time too which made it very Dramatic . We would have Safety Divers in case I didn't come up & the crowd would be encouraged to count .. & you get them counting a bit faster than real time . In Reality I would free my hands & legs from the ropes B4 I was even in the water & then just sit on the bottom as long as I could to add to the suspense .. LOl Big love to all at Thomann .
Lol so a few years back I went to a Snarky Puppy concert. I told a more senior co-worker, whom told me her friend’s son’s band was also in town. My co-workers friend was Michael League’s mom 😅
Julia, you are wonderful...knowledgeable, and yet free in your thinking which allows you to wander where ever the conversation will go. this makes for interesting and fun interviews. Thanks for this. also, although I'm an old guy (just turned 70...tada) Michael is a bit of a hero to me, so it was good to hear an interview with him done in your style.
So far - in my humble opinion- Michael’s music (and production) is the best of 2021! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎼🎶🍻 and Julia does a stellar job of listening- asking thoughtful questions without not interruptions …..and fantastic to look at….❤️🍷
Can’t wait for “So Many Me” to drop, as well as the virtual festival. Glad to see Michael exploring new things creatively; I feel like a lot of cool stuff is on the way! Cool conversation.
Man, do I get the team thing. I think that is why I struggled with learning guitar/lead guitar. I've always thrived when part of a cohesive unit, understanding my role. Hoping my new journey with bass feels more familiar. Julia, great interview again!
Enjoyed it a lot. Yeah, from the moment she mentioned classical cello, it got really serious and informative. Julia, I appreciate the background work I can see you've done in advance to prepare for the interview, having at least several rescue questions or marks to keep the flow. Good job, excellent outcome.
Awesome to hear Michael mention Carles Benavent, he's IMHO Europe's most original voice on the bass guitar (along with Dutch bass player Herman Deinum)
man this girl has a dreamjob 🤗 very good interview! thanks for that Julia and Thomann 😎 can't wait to see more of these. If you do one with Herbie Hancock (i know he aint a bass player but still) ill be the biggest fan
Michael League is a big inspiration and a role model for me! I think we are much alike, but like eons of musical advancement apart :D I really want to hear this solo album! Love the video released which I guess is one of the songs from the album?
yea was a classically trained violinist took me a solid decade away from playing violin to finally know killed the worse parts of it lost started just about 3 hrs a day jamming to backing tracks still I was too locked to the beat the I found the video where you and cory are jamming, and the crowd sings the jam and then an encore happen that's my warm-up jam every day then ill listen to you do like yesterday and do call and response now I just need to find real ppl to jam with
and you nailed it about challenging im always searching for the next stressful solo then I found max ostro today and realize ill never not be challenged thanks internet
Michael, please give us, Europeans who didn't grow up in the US and didn't study at the Uni of North Texas, some advice on how to get a decent swing and not sounding as "Europeans", you know what I mean. highly appreciated

How can you not love this guy??? He's so humble, so grounded and such an amazing musician... I can't wait to hear his album!!!
I just love the way Julia does these interviews. She’s definitely a fan of Michael but her interest in music (and bass) makes this conversation so interesting. Thanks Julia!
Can we say, Michael is a gem? A great thing about him is, he is an amazing band leader, without being obvious, that he is the band leader.
the joy of Julia is real!!!

This guy's appetite for life and exploration of it is
humbling and inspiring.

She's a wonderful interviewer, and her questions are always relevant. Bravo to Julia & Michael for this interesting interview!!
Julia you are amazing always. Such a impressive bassist but who would have ever guessed she juggles.. lol. Love ya Julia. Great interview!

Watched Snarky Puppy in December of 2019 in Luxemburg shortly before the world shut down. It was the expected sheer pleasure.
I saw that tour as well, it was unbelievable
Very well done Julia! I love the Snarkys so much and Michael is a nice guy.
Absolutely great interview from beginning to end. Great job Julia!
LOVE this! Thank you, Peace from Detroit MI.
Awesome conversation, excellent questions!
The part of shaking where you come from... that hits!!
Terrific. I'm a huge fan of Snarky Puppy and hope there will still be a steady stream of that sort of thing coming from Michael and colleagues.
Thank you, Julia, for such amazing guest and great interview. Dream to listen to Michael live someday.
Can’t wait for “So Many Me” to drop, as well as the virtual festival. Glad to see Michael exploring new things creatively; I feel like a lot of cool stuff is on the way! Cool conversation.

yeah, team work and good taste in rhythm, my kind of people :)
Great interview..inspiring. Such a rad dude!
Michael has the Tom Hulce's Mozart's hysteric laugh. The mark of geniuses.
Enjoyed it a lot. Yeah, from the moment she mentioned classical cello, it got really serious and informative. Great interview, really lovely to hear how Michael interprets his own creativity in music and great questions by Julia! Thanks:)
Julia please consider interviewing Joe Dart and Kinga Glyk.

Great interview, Julia!!
Huge fan!
28:05 Great to see Michael's second instrument to learn after bass was a Kurdish daf.
my man casually got a Wurlitzer 200 series and a Ampeg Portaflex B15 in the background
gosh i love this human man
💙👊😎
does anyone have the link to the Greg hutchinson video he's referring to?
Very interesting in his comments about Europe.
It is largely dull and passion free.
African Americans are the most influential people on the planet.
Hi J .... Would love to know about that HOFNER Bass sitting on the couch behind Michael.
Oh no....Salvador Dali ...........from Super Jazz....Mr League...i like your music...ABSTRACT
He is a very lucky man! Not everyone gets interviewed by a Epic Bass Goddess! OMG! Slap like NOW!

Today we've got a very special guest for you. A warm welcome to "My colleague" 😅
I was hoping you would have asked him about the basses he used on this album, or even the basses behind him. Otherwise, it was great.
As she said, there will be a second part covering this 👍
I hope so.
Chick corea grounded in Latin music moves to America for further stardom/self development. Michael does the reverse. Fair play.
Check biography, Chick is all American
If you click(ed) dislike on this, would you mind explaining why please?
Because I seriously don't get it.
Thanks.
For me, pure jealousy.
@@pete3816 lol awesome.
Why does he remind me of the actor from The Hangover movies? The one who received Mike Tyson's fist in the first movie? Hmm
I think I don’t know someone with a more movable neck then Michael League ✌️😂

Michael League has some serious pandemic hair going on.😀

Is he an aquarium?
And he's pro-BDS, which is nice.
