The Most ICONIC Sports Moments of the Decade

  • These are in no order, just the 10 most (in my opinion) iconic moments of the decade. No hockey, hahahahha.
But remember - live in the moment and do not take the great moments for granted. They won't be here forever.
Thats why I made these clips a little longer than others. I feel that it is important to remember the moments before and after the iconic play. Because that is when we felt our most stressed, happy or sad. I hope for more videos in 2020, and a wonderful future for you all!

8:07 I watched this game live. I could not believe it. Being a life-long Vikings fan comes with pain. Lots of pain. But this, this was something special. My whole family was gathered at our parents house to watch the playoff game and it seemed like it was about to end just like every other Vikings playoff season. I tell you, the look of disbelief and joy on my dad's face when we watched the Minneapolis Miracle was nothing short of inspiring. The Vikings then, of course, completely blew it the following week but that was to be expected. They're still the Vikings, after all.

A lot of people forget that Iron Bowl wasn’t just a regular rivalry game (despite Auburn/Alabama being one of the best rivalries in sports). It was #1 vs #4 for a birth in the SEC Championship game and, if won by either team, a birth in the National Championship. And people also forget that the entire game was a frenetic, fantastic rollercoaster. The Kick 6 was just the ending of all endings.

I'm a Seahawks fan, goddamn this team brought me so many memories in the past decade. Seems a good time to review these moments with it coming to a close.
With that said, I will always fight people calling Pete Carroll an idiot for throwing there. Everyone in the entire country knew Marshawn Lynch was getting the ball. Trusting your stud QB on a quick slant wasn't a tall order. The play even appeared to go as planned, but Malcolm Butler made the play of his life. Go look back at the film, when Russ released it, the WR had separation, Butler just had superhuman reflexes and cut off the route in one of the greatest defensive plays of all time that seems to get forgotten.
It gets overshadowed because everyone calls Pete Carroll a dumbass and that gets all the attention. When in reality, Malcolm Butler should be a name cemented in Super Bowl history for that immaculate play recognition.
Though if that play never happens and Marshawn does run it in that play or the next, it drastically changes a lot for the Seahawks legacy. The Legion of Boom are widely considered one of the premiere defenses to ever do it. But had the Seahawks pulled off the W in that SuperBowl. The LOB would have beat best offense of all time Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in back to back years. One being the GOAT and the other right behind him as a top 3 - 5 QB ever.
Their legacy will always be tarnished by that while people spout of stats from teams who played 40 years ago when motions, audibles and playcalling was much more predictable. But that LOB defense was explosive and should be right there with the 2000 Ravens for most electric defense of all time.

Well done video these are the moments I instantly think of when it comes to top moments of the decade (still pains me every time I see the Ortiz homerun. Especially me being a tigers fan) the only thing I would add is some other sports mainly because the title is indicating all sports, maybe something boxing… but baseball, football, and basketball are the sports I instantly think of.

@@jacksonluke7174 yeah I go from thinking we’re gonna be 2-0 and we have verlander on the mound at home this is exactly what we needed, we might even get a sweep of the best team in baseball (just like we did the year before). Disappointing because that series was the decider of who would be the World Series champion. Miss Jim leyland the most though he really knew what he was doing.
