Very good video. Much more complete with commentary than the Pentair video. A very important step is the silicon sealant. If you don't follow this step, it will leak and you will have to repeat the process. Also, the blond gasket is for pre 2.1.2008 pumps (which is what I have). The black one will not fit correctly.
Lenin Arellano Great Video, I was able to do it all myself. What if it was still leaking when I was done? :( I don't want to buy another pump. What about a stronger seal? More Forgiving? Thanks.
could be your seal faces got damaged on install or the seal was otherwise not installed properly; must take care to insure the seal is 100% perpendicular to the shaft; careful when applying pressure on the seal face to get it to seat all the way. This is the reason you must clean out the recess in the seal plate as this could cause the seal not to seat properly.
I've rebuilt my Whisperflo a few times. Put some kind of anti-seize (like white lithium grease) on those bolt threads before you re-assemble. Trust me, I didn't do that once and ruined my seal plate the next time I had to disassemble the pump. Also, the torque spec is 70 in-lb for the motor to seal plate, and 110 in-lb for the seal-plate to volute--not 110 for all of them.
Thanks Darin for the tips and clarification. We're always up for learning something new here at pool elementary. Again thanks for the heads up to all our viewers.
@POOL ELEMENTARY, I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS, BUT WHEN I INSTALLED THE PUMP BACK, THE MOTOR RUNS, BUT, THERE IS NO SUCTION ? I TALKED WITH AGUY WHO JUST OPENED A SHOP IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT I THINK MIGHT HAVE GIVEN ME THE WRONG IMPELLER, AFTER HE SAID MINE WAS MESSED UP FROM THE GLUE HE SAID THE FACTORY PUT ON THE IMPELLER SEAL, HE SAID IT WAS MY MOTOR, SO HE SOLD ME A MOTOR FOR $375, HE SAID IT WAS A WHISPERFLO, BUT WHEN I GOT IT HOME I REALIZED THAT IT WASN’T A WHISPERFLO, I KEEP CATCHING HIM IN LIES, SO IM TAKING BACK THE PUMP HE SOLD ME, NOT ONLY DO I THI G THIS NEW PUMP IS CHEAP, BUT ALSO IT’S GOING TO BE LOWDER, I DON’T WANT A LOWDER MOTOR, I WANT TO FIX MINE. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHY MY WHISPERFLO PUMP WONT PRIM. PLEASE HELP, THANK YOU.

Hola Como cambias los valeros en este tipo de motor
👍
Quisiera ver como remplazar las balineras de este motor
Normally people just replace the motor when the bearings go out
