As now being 30 years old, when I was say 9 or 10 years old this was peak nostalgia. Man do I miss these days, asking my mom or dad to come watch how cool I thought it was and the music and intensity at the time this was the best. For anyone who enjoyed this and shared the same memories, cheers 🍻
Same. I'm 32 and PSX/PS2 is peak nostalgia. I'm impressed by how well it's aged too. The music never stopping during loading screens is neat. Most my audience is 25-35 years old according to UA-cam, which checks out. I'm working on a retrospective of the 2nd game atm. Hopefully out in two weeks.
I remember playing this as a kid. I would laugh at the sounds the npcs would make when you use the teaser and they would scream as they burst into flames.
Знали бы вы как пираты переводили эту игру на русский язык;))) hi from russia)))
So good. Never got old. Still cracked me up watching this video.
The air taser was what got me hooked onto the series 😂
“Ah ah ah ahhhhhhhhh” *keeps holding square*
@@bellyOfaTigeragree 😅😂
I was 20 when the original came out, and I remember buying this, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill on the same visit to my local game shop. My mind was blown for 2 months straight as I played through those 3 games.
damn. that's a solid lineup.
As a Costa Rican kid I remember losing my shit seeing my home country featured in a videogame for the first time
Probably not the best representation lol.
Syphon filter 2 is one of my favorites. Could easily be in my top 10.
Bravo, this was a fantastic video. Syphon Filter was a childhood favourite and I always hope for its return. You killed it with this retrospective.
thx a lot. I appreciate it. Feedback always welcome!
I think Syphon Filter Trillogy along with Omega Strain on PS2 are the best third person shooters ever released - amazing level deisgn, unique and amazing core mechanics, atmosphere, story.
They're not my favorite games, but they all have special places in my heart. What other TPS come close?
The fighting in background when transported back to childhood is hysterical and genius...bravo good sir...bravo 👏
We do a few dark jokes around here haha.
The music here is really something. Each stage has its normal and danger version. The boss music against the Chopper was amazing and i still listen to it to this day. Notable pieces are Rhoemer's Stronghold Danger version and Pharcom's Warehouses normal version
i loved this series so much as a kid and I wanted to make videos about. i am inspired by this video and your channel. thanks so much for this.
I appreciate it! I checked out your vids. They're super well done, but if I could give one critique that I'm trying to follow myself, is to stick to one thing. I think you'd blow up if you did. Anyway Thanks again!
@@PlayStation_Paradise yes I am trying my best to niche down thank you again means so much to me!
One of many epic games of my childhood, I was amazed with it - effects, lvl design, the characters... all fitted nice. As for your material, It was a fine 30mins of nostalgia for me, worth of range comment ;P keep up doing the good job ;)
I appreciate it! One of my nostalgic childhood games too, alongside final fantasy tactics and metal gear solid.
@@PlayStation_Paradise bruh how are you posting bogdanoff memes and then also a furry
dissapointed
watch some 90s tv put some hair on your chest
Loved this series growing up,my introduction to SF was the 2nd Game,Good retrospective
1999 the first game I played on my PlayStation 1 and I loved it. When you shot the enemy's the blood just poured out, I loved all the breaking glass, and I love jumping through the glass windows. As someone who loves the spy genre this game was definitely my cup of tea. This game will always have a special place in my heart.
I recently discovered that the syphon filter trilogy can be played on PS4 and I'm super excited to play again.
Yeah! With HD and trophies too.
I hope one day they will make Syphon filter remake, nice video btw.. keep it up
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate it.
I loved this game so much as a kid. I remember renting it a lot and playing nonstop to beat it.
It was one of my first games! Did you play the sequels? I got super into Omega Strain multiplayer.
Great retrospective. It really brought me back and kept me laughing. Especially cinnamon roll gun part
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was fun to make.
This is an amazing retrospect. I was shocked at the view count when I glanced over, this is high quality. I'm sticking around!
Thanks fam. Appreciate it! Always interested in what people seem to enjoy.
These games are pure nostalgia for me.
Great video! I remember playing this series when I was a kid with my father. Would love to see a video for SF2 and 3!
Glad to hear it! I'm actually working on SF2 atm. It'll be out sometime this month.
Love the Syphon Filter Games, it where I learn that tasers can light enemies on fire, love your review and keep up the content

Thanks a lot! Appreciate it. Working on two videos right now.
@@PlayStation_Paradise good luck with your other videos looking forward to them.

@@ArdentVitalGamer I'm wondering what someone who watches my content, also watches. I can judge my own videos, but it's difficult to get a sense of how others seem them. What works, what doesn't, and how to incorporate my own personality into it.
Love this game as a kid. Now I'm playing it on steam deck
I just finished it on my psvita and starting the 2nd one
Dude great job on the video I've been watching videos like this of games from my childhood. Seriously great job 👍
Thanks. I super appreciate it. If you ever have feedback, feel free to leave a comment. It helps me direct my content.
John Chacon was pretty great as Gabriel Logan, very underrated performance.
I think he was best in 1. A fantastic performance. But I think he wasn't great in 2. I wish he could've been in the later games and it work out.
Great commentary/narrative! Over 10 minute (to even longer retros) are the best.
Thanks! I just finished uploading videos of the entire series. I'll be posting a complication video of every game in the series soon.
Great video, man! This was my jam back in the late 90's..loved the sequels, too.
I'm gonna check your channel, to see if you've done any more videos on the series
Edit: Not yet. Hope you visit #2 and #3, which are both on PS1
Y'all don't know how much this game meant to me. Being from the DMV, this was the first video game ever to feature the DC Metro in it. This is why I really embraced this game. Love seeing my hometown in a video game. Fun Fact: The Georgia-Ave Petworth Subway Station that the subway level was based on wasn't even open yet at the time of the game's release. It's amazing this game did not get it an M rating, considering the taser and how it showed your enemies being burnt to a crisp!! Man, if they remake this game correctly, it will be a bonified classic again!!
I remember seeing the commercial for the first one and instantly becoming obsessed. Then my cousin(who got me into games and was 4 years older) got it so when I went to his house all I wanted to do was play it. I played it so much. I remember beating it for the first time felt like such an accomplishment. Oh and man did I taze so many people lmao
Yeah, played this during the time that spy film thrillers were a thing. Sometimes I felt like I'm a spy myself.
I've been playing some PSX Bond games and yeah... Spy's used to be cool. We need to bring them back, and ninjas, which are basically just old spies.
Playing this on a bootleg Ps1 from Korea is my childhood. MGS, FF8 and Syphon Filter.
This is more action splinter cell than mgs. A lot of its mechanics are beyond its time and I appreciate its unusual movement. Apart from the manual aim, the game felt good to play.
Bro that intro about childhood hit way to hard man
I used to rent the first game from the library when I was a kid after my mum brought me the second game becsuse there was a demo of the train level
Follow your dreams, im living proof they can be achived
BEEFCAKE, BEEFCAKE
Lol. It's supposed to be a dark joke, but idk how it went over with viewers. It made me laugh hard while editing it.
Transported back to my childhood. " You sitting there telling me I'm not good enough for you!!!". Ahh good times
I love your voice. I could listen to you talk about games all day long lol. Syphon Filter was my jam growing up! Nice to revisit it!
Awesome video! I love the depth you went into the story and details on the level design (I never knew the Girdeux level was created in just one weekend). Some funny moments and jokes made your video better too. I think at 12:15 you meant to say "newly acquired M1911", as the M16 is available on the first level. I hope you do videos for SF2 & SF3
Thanks! 12:15 you're right :x script mistake.
Here from Days Gone's easter eggs....Great job man!
Thanks a lot fam. I appreciate it!
Hell yes, great retrospective, would love to see more regarding Syphon Filter 2 and 3. These games are very much underrated and deserve attention
Appreciate it! I'm currently working on a Syphon Filter 2 Retrospective and it should be my final video for 2023.
Love this series and I also always hope for a return.
Whoever hasn't played this game should check it out.
I'll always remember the 989 studios when loading the game. Used too give me chills as a kid.
NINE EIGHT NINE, studios. I can hear it in my head.
Been waiting for a video on this. Thanks!
Been waiting for your comment ;)

Too real man.
Earned a sub lmao
This vid's over a year old but that part still makes me lol. ;_;
>"Your name is Jenkins, of course you are dying"
Hmm. Do you happen to be a programmer?
Note: I loved your retrospectives on all 3 SF games. Great work.
I'm very flattered! haha I'm not.
My first grown-up video game. No more super Mario bros for me.
The first level is forever burned into my brain.
An absolute treat to play in its time.
Great commentary of a vastly underrated game
I want a remake of Syphon Filter with the mechanics of Days Gone or Last of Us 2 with the replayability of Re 4 remake.
You forgot to mention the OMEGA STRAIN
Yeah... ._. lol. Which is silly because I played a ton of it way back in the day. Did you like it?
I really miss it when gaming was not 'figured out' which forced devs to come up with their own interpretations of what a genre looked like - from the controls down to the mechanics.
If Syphon FIlter had come out today it would no double be a generic third person Splinter Cell knock off.
By the way, really really fun commentary. Subbed.
Same. It felt more risky and was fun finding new weird games. Did you have a favorite example?
Fun fact. Syphon Filter, while has its fans, was heavily criticized in the West as "third person lite Golden Eye"
Damn dude, I had syphon filter 1 when i was like 8 in 2003, the early 2000s I had a ps1 and nes. I have huge memories coming back from playing SF 1 back then, no memory card so we never got past the 2nd level, It used to take me hours to pass a level lol, I just didnt understand how games worked back then. Especially coming from arcade games like super mario and such. I think this game and fighting force are the 2 games i remember the most from that year.
The games do stealth in them. Obviously the stealth missions in the games but the game also has missions like Washington Park and missions in Dark Mirror where stealth is an option
Yeah. There's def stealth parts/levels, mandatory and not, but "stealth game" to me implies it's the majority genre of the game. I wouldn't call Skyrim an FPS, despite being able to shoot in the first person perspective.
@@PlayStation_Paradise this is more or less stealth/action. Like I mentioned before, there are sections in these games where stealth is an option. Especially in Dark Mirror and Logan where you unlock badges and weapons for getting stealth kills.
While it may not be majority/mandatory stealth like MGS is, they do present plenty of opportunities for stealth much like Tenchu does.
Oh man all the arguments in the kitchen while I was in my room playing games. Glad I'm not the only one lol.
The real fun was all the trauma we made along the way ❤️
I didn't know at the time but the G18 is the Glock 18 hand gun
My favorite weapon in the series 😎
@@wallaceshawn-zk8iw I only used the taser
@@savoirfaire5460 Great weapon too 👍
@@wallaceshawn-zk8iw I hope they don't make a movie or tv show out of the game I was in a national Guard unit that did that stuff it was call the RAID team
I love this franchise😍Great video😉
Another idea, Tenchu 2?
Tenchu is one of my favorite series, but I'm trash at it. I'm planning on covering all the games eventually.
I played the hell out of this demo
Was it the first level? I played MGS demo but never Syphon Filter.
The shotgun and grenade launcher are till my favorite sounding weapons from any game. M-16 is close behind. I loved the first 2 as kid and played them nonstop.
Love this game. Very realistic
vintage ps1 classic, bogdanoff reference, subbed. these developers also made Uncharted Golden Abyss for the PS Vita, and the menu sounds are the exact same as the last Syphon Filter game for the PSP, which I found to be a nice detail.
I still play this series to this day. I found this game on the demo disk that used to come with the PS1.
The demo was fantastic. iirc it was the first level up until the first explosion in the subway?
I have the original 2 on PS1 with my PS2 but bought them again on my PS5. Hadn't played them at all since I bought them for the PS1 recently so when I jumped on PS5 it was the first time since I was like 4 or 5 and I was so brought back. I remembered the rough layout of the 1st mission and that room you have to climb through the window of to get to the back alley with the elevator. Remembered the subway part too. It's so strange to play it again now and see the passion put into a game to make it work on such underpowered hardware and even have it be better in some ways than modern action games.
It's one of the most interesting PS1 games imo. Absolute classic. Glad you got to revisit it.
Nice work, don't you wanna make video about the sequels? I loved 2 & 3 too but even enjoyed SF games on PS2 🙂
I finished SF2 and plan on making a vid on the rest of the games in the future but I don't know when.
Just found out this game and days gone are in the same universe and this game is the reason days gone out brake happened
They're hinted to be in the same universe with an easter egg, but I've never seen the latter substantiated.
Great game. Love the theme song. Good video keep it up
Nice job on that editing dude.
twitter.com/narien_0 is the editor for this video. He's fantastic.
Industrial espionage was deserted for no reason. Its literally the best genre of video games and need to come back
These Games were my childhood too... Though have you Played Omega strain?
Love Omega Strain. There's still an online community. You should look into it if you're curious.
@@PlayStation_Paradise i tried playing online 5 years ago. Servers were still Up. But at the time i saw No Players
@@PlayStation_Paradise Same With bf2 on ps2.... Though everyone was so much better than me:p
@@vhgiv there's a discord you gotta join to setup games. Google should have it
I played the demo when it came with Playstation Magazine. My friend and I played that demo so much.
There was funny moment when my friend tossed a grenade and the enemy said "Logan! Son of.....boom!" Sad that didn't make it to the final product.
I still have the first 3 games and the 2 PSP games. The PS2 game wasn't the same and the enemies would just respawn over and over. you didn't use Gabe either.
I kinda preferred thus over MGS during that time.
lol cute story. I'm interested in seeing the two PSP ports. I've never played them. Played 1-3 and Omega Strain but never the ports.
Later in the game towards the end the npc actually say that
Never played it as a kid. So decided to start playing all the old PS1 games that are rated. Really enjoyed it. Shame about the dated movement controls and I hate how random enemies just appear to mess u up! Lastly. I'm stuck on the underground mines level. No matter how I approach, ping the lights out, the enemy sees me miles away but I've just seen your video and u can indeed just tail the scientist 😂 . So I've gave up for now but gotta try again now then😩 really wanted to beat this game! I have 2nd game to start tho
What are some games on your list? My favorite video game ever is Final Fantasy Tactics. It better be on the list ;)
@@PlayStation_Paradise I have fear effect 1 & 2, ape escape, wild 9, alone in the dark, heart of darkness, medievil 1&2, 40 winks, tenchu 1&2, Syphon filter 1&2, Akuji the heartless so far! It's mainly games that I heard were good but I never played a kid not owning a PS1 myself. Resident evil I can't 😂 too scary/ tense! Final fantasy too long, crash bandicoot I've played a bit but it bored me. I've also got a PS2 collection starting up where I will finally brave playing silent hill 2 🤣 amongst others
You mean tunnel blackout? Use the viral scanner as your flashlight
this is back when spy fiction was prime action game pulp.
Spy Fiction is on my backlog! Looking forward to checking it out.
@@PlayStation_Paradise uhhh you might wanna skip it.
I will NOT! ;)
@@PlayStation_Paradise Okay man just saying it's not good.
@@theguyinthere Sounds like it'd make for a good video ;)
I to remember this game as kid loved heck im playing all 3 recently
This is more of a summary than a retrospective. But I like it. PS1 syphon filter trilogy is underrated.
What is the best and safest way to play these games on PC?
Google 👀
Nice timing with the headshots
for some reason the 9 mm hand gun does more damage to the chopper then any other weapon
The first level was included on a Demo Disc and I played through it so much that I bought the game. Overall the game is fairly easy with the only difficulty I remember encountering being the stealth part of the crypts/cellar level. Still its super fun and the taser always cracked me up.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Rhoemer can only be killed by the gas grenades. It was kind of frustrating trying to figure out why my head shots weren't killing him at first.
I didn't mention it in the video because I only found out AFTER that he only dies to them, but gas grenades were the first thing I tried lol. I had no idea. I just used them because they're instant kills.
I remember playing this game with all guns cheat and having a blast...there was a machine pistol and i cant remember exact irl gun it was modeled after, but i remember thinking it was super cool. This game had awesome selection of guns if i recall correctly. Oh and the taser of course
The entire series has so many guns!
One of my favorite ps1 game

that emulator messed up the targeting
Yee. Cosmetic only thankfully. It's due to the widescreen patch and it being a 2D asset.
Although these toys are classic, they are beautiful, that's just why
This whole game feels like it was written by Tommy Wiseau
15:20 I cant tell you, its confidential
What happened to your other videos?
I discovered that promoting your videos absolutely kills viewer retention, which in turn means UA-cam will actively hide the video, meaning (run on sentence) that the only people who'll see your videos, are those you deliberately show it to.
I don't care that much about the views, but it feels bad to work so hard on a video and realized you unintentionally sabotaged it.
So I'm starting over fresh, and leaving it alone in terms of promotion. If I can make something people want to watch, awesome. If not, then I'll keep improving and doing it until it's no longer fun.
I'm sorry for the trouble, and thanks a lot for watching!
@@PlayStation_Paradise Ah that makes sense, I only just discovered your channel the other day and really liked your videos so I was confused when I just couldn't find the vids or you, keep up the good work.
@@williamhoover2616 thanks! I appreciate it. I'm always looking for feedback. I'm cleaning up my stuff and older videos.
The G18 isn’t a submachine gun, it’s a fully automatic pistol
I always did hate how I emptied my gun into Mara's head, but somehow she's impervious to headshots during all 4 games, ultimately making her the big bad for Logan and the SF series. 😂
I know that feeling. Picture this:
Enemies that drop money like literal fountain
Vending machines everywhere with ammo, gun and more to buy
One character's weapons are t-shirts, you wear a sumo t-shirt, he will fight like a sumo
The game takes place during the day
During Christmas day, of all days
One level is a supermarket with Xmas songs playing in the background
Everything is quite bright and colorful
There was a joke in the trailer
Guess what people think this game is for the past 23 years? Yep, you guessed it, a survival horror.
It is compared to Resident Evil: Code Veronica all the time and is judged by everyone based on that.
I think my point is that... gamers are fµcking stupid ^-^
I played this game at Fort Leonard Wood training for a terrorist Response team called The R.A.I.D Team we was setting up for Y2K I was in the 8th RAID team for the 8th FEMA region cool training great game
