We decided to downsize and my hubby passed 3 weeks after we moved in. It was difficult but now I am so glad we had moved and I love my 2 bed apartment with sea views.
@@extraordinarywomennextchapter We moved from an apartment to a house but only because our kids still live with us (they're both in college). Anyhow, while in the apartment a lot of our stuff was in storage for that whole year and a half, only getting the Christmas decorations when needed and then returning it. Anyhow, that really made me realize when we moved into a house again that we really don't need too much things to be happy and comfortable and that more than half of those things I did not need once, so I got rid of stuff and I'm still trying to get rid of more because I didn't miss it. Although, I don't have much things like most people do, sometimes I feel like I have too much things still that I don't even need. Downsizing is a good thing and we are planning on doing it when the kids leave the nest.
Incredibly spacious for a Paris apartment - beautifully and elegantly appointed. Love the colour palette. The use of mirrors always makes a space look light and airy. Furnishings are sublime. For me that’s large apartment, but I get for those from America, this would seem small. Love the use of lamps in the kitchen creates a warm ambiance. Making one’s world smaller has great benefit in freeing up one from stuff - the more square footage the more stuff and the more one is having to keep clean and tidy. And maintenance. It’s amazing what we can manage without and only have what brings us joy in creating a harmonious comfortable relaxing home. It’s an expression of oneself.
Soooo beautiful! I am Australian but was born and raised in Croatia. I love anything French because it speaks elegance..... like your apartment. You are very blessed. ❤️❤️❤️
I am a 60 ish male , live in Italy, travel often and study more. Your abode is genuinely gracious. Most importantly, it has a most important ‘ingresso ‘ and a pleasant layout throughout.
I just found your channel. In the next few weeks I will be watching all your videos. I have been looking for something like this. Today I was told I am 20 months into remission from colon cancer. My doc thinks I will be just fine. Now that I know I will most likely not die from this I need to get on with the rest of my life. I hit the pause button because I was worried that if I started anything I might not be here to follow it through. So now I can make some plans and take some action. The problem is I am not sure how to do that. But I watched a few of your videos and I think this is the place to start.
Oh yes! I can't imagine what it must have been like to get that diagnosis but hopefully, you are now on the mend and you can let yourself dream and plan again. Welcome to designing your next chapter!!!
Congratulations on your journey to recovery! I am a 2X breast cancer Survivor, so I can appreciate how far you've come. Treat yourself to flowers often, you deserve it!
Having lived in Paris as a single person for 24 years (I'm now in Normandy), this apartment is quite the find. Perfect thart you created a real foyer, which I also consider really important. Also, the amount of storage space is exceptional (the French don't believe in closets, only armoires) - your decoration, though not my taste (I prefer Jean Royère or other French mid-century designers) is so naturally done that it doesn't feel decorated at all, which is the hardest design stunt to pull off. And I LOVE your window treatments, beautiful curtains. Brava
Paris will always be my second home. I lived in Paris proper in a hotel for 4 months, just 1 block from the Etoil. Then moved to Poissy for 4 years. After all that time, I never learned French, but oh how I miss the taste of the French bread! I'd gige anything to eat that again. I love your apartment and if I were with the means, I'd be living there again!
What a FANTASTIC apartment with a great layout. The rooms are very well proportioned. great light and beautifully appointed. From vids I have been watching on apartments in Paris, this apartment is quite large or at least looks so. I do hope your Paris chapter lasts for some time so you may enjoy this lovely space! thank you for sharing!
Size is deceiving...this is a small or regular sized apartment in Paris. 670 sq. feet or 63 sq. meters. But, I've learned as I've gotten older, that more space isn't what I need- because I then just fill it up with "stuff." Thank you for your kind words...yes, we never know how long each chapter will be so we have to try to find joy in each day.
This woman lives in an alternate reality for the working class, middle class, even relatively affluent. This is NOT an average sized one bedroom apartment in Paris. I am from Europe, this is an affluent well-off woman able to pay for location, SIZE, and I think the phrase is rehabbing the space to her specifications. It may be nicely done but not achievable for most people.
@ rosaoddin4338You are right about the size, location etc., however one does not need to be wealthy. A smaller more ordinary and perhaps rented apartment may be transformed by a flair for design or by following the ideas of others, such as in this lovely video. Buying prudently at les puce or brocante is the secret of inexpensive beauty for many apartments and homes in France and everywhere else in the world😊
I would dearly love to see another video showing in more detail where you store all your things in this beautiful apartment! I’m wondering where you keep all your office supplies, important papers, wardrobe, kitchenware, linens, toiletries, etc. I’m over 70, live in an apartment & it would be SO helpful! I’m sure you have done such a good job of curating during downsizing (which is a beautiful idea to me). Oh, Please Do!
Well, there is a cave for this apartment in the cellar, where I store papers, unused furniture, holiday decorations, etc. but nothing that is fabric. Every one of the cupboards you saw in the bedroom has shelves up to the ceiling so there are loads of storage....and my bed has two big drawers under it where I store sheets, table linens, off season clothing. I think the key is to be creative and figure out ways to divide up and organize things in a cupboard.
Thank you! I’d love to find a furnished room or studio in a part of Paris near interesting coffee shops and booksellers and resale shops for a one month visit. For now, I’m pretending I live in Paris and I’m trying to furnish my apartment as though I were.😇@@extraordinarywomennextchapter
Lovely, welcoming, cozy home❤. The mirrors make the apartment elegant…and I also add lamps to my kitchen, powder room, bathroom, laundry room, even the walk in closet. Lamps transform the room from its technical origins to a homey space.
@@dinapawlow1622 Nothing new. Ceiling lights give a most unflattering light. You need as many added sources of light as possible (lamps, but also picture lights).
I absolutely LOVED your tour and your Paris apt. It’s lovely and is exactly what I’d strive for if I lived there. Everything down to the added molding (or especially the molding) is my taste, exactly. I had to smile when you said the chairs are Pierre Frey as I have an entire Pinterest board on Pierre Frey. I lived in Germany and Austria for about 10 years when I was younger (am now 70) and so I’m not surprised by anything in your apt. I would have loved just a glimpse of the courtyard. Those are some of the loveliest perks of living in European cities (to me). I’m sure this is a different type of podcast for you but it is just right up my alley, I enjoyed it so very much. Such an fun podcast, thanks for making it.
Thank you for joining me!! I should have added photos of the courtyard. Great suggestion!! Ah, Pierre Frey....the best combination of antique wallpapers and contemporary furniture.
I liked the bed and headboard and bedroom the best, with the breeze from windows. That would be Heaven to sleep in that room. Next, the kitchen was inviting to have a nice coffee or tea with a croissant or 2.
I like the grey, off-white aesthetic with touches of gold: very elegant and highly liveable. Less is certainly more as they say and not everyone needs acres of space.
The apartment looks wonderful, very polished design that is also practical. Furnishing an apartment like this with beautiful flea market finds must have been so much fun :)
I'm a Frenchman.I did enjoy touring your tiny appartment .This is a small kind of a box , still a very elegant and thoughtfully embellished one .Rich textures mixing functionality with a classical touch .Congratulations !
Your apartment is lovely! And, I love how you decided to built walls, when everyone seems to be knocking them down. I am like you. Congratulations, enjoy it fully!
I'm French and absolutely love how you arranged and decorated your apartment. You have exquisite taste. Those mirrors and old furniture give it a lot of personality. I also love the framed Hermes scarf. Enjoy the wonderful vibes of this very special place before you move on!
While I could never afford an apartment like this, it has great design inspiration to use in any size space. Even tiny spaces! The balance between elegance and function is perfect!
Everything is just perfect! The wallpaper in the foyer, the perfect cream colored walls, the art, the colors of the furnishings. You created continuity between the spaces, all while giving each its’ own special moment. Tres Magnifique!
J'adore les Puces de St Ouen , "carverne d'Alibaba" for great old pieces. You did such a great job , your apartment is elegant with a feeling of "sérénity" , et très français sans ostentation : bravo! Seems like you're thinking about leaving Paris ...thank you for the lovely glimpse of your elegant home
@@marsery Très français ? It seems very international to me. A typical French apartment has mouldings, ceiling roses, marble fireplaces… - which give it a soul. This one is not bad taste, it is just nothing special.
Love love your apartment but one idea I had that you could do that I think would be a lot of fun and beautiful, but do with it what you will as it’s your home. But I would remove the venting panels in the armoire and I would find some beautiful Parisian fabric and replace the venting grid in the armoire doors with beautiful fabric pleated and then your TV would be completely hidden and it would give character to the armoire and it would be fun to find beautiful Parisian fabric for it. And with it being a minimal space for fabric it can still be affordable to go $$ on fabric as it would be a focal piece in your room. :)

I love your apartment Sharri. To me it gracious but a cosy and homely vibe too. Having the modern larger kitchen makes living in a smaller space very livable IMHO, and I do love the window drapes and sheers. 👏👌🥰
What a lovely visit I’ve just had with you. It really did feel like you were showing just me around your lovely home. And how timely……as I have recently sold my large family home, four years after becoming a widow, with my children all married. I am waiting impatiently for my new apartment to be completed, and for me to start my ‘next chapter’. I took note of your suggestions about beautiful window coverings, and plenty of storage. You have just become my inspiration!
In my mind, absolute perfection. So serene and beautiful. Choosing a one bedroom and prioritizing storage in beautiful ways, can really free up your decorating budget and time spent cleaning. Adding in gorgeous mirrors and draperies, and a cohesive color scheme in a small space really helps expand it. Bravo. 👏🏼🌹
So very nicely done. Thank you. I have a lovely 700 square foot apartment here in the states and plan eventually in the next several years to move to your Europe. Probably Spain. Even though I'm in love with France and Paris, this may be a more economical choice. Anyway, I love all of the ideas, especially the mirrors. I'm fortunate that I have some mirrors already and a mirror door in my bedroom. But you gave me some excellent ideas regarding some of my antique furniture which either needs to be refinished or painted. And what you've done with your furniture has really inspired me. And I love the idea of lamps in the kitchen as I've never thought about that before. I really like low lighting in the evenings, it's easier on the eyes. It's less stressful and I might say more romantic. Anyway, you've got me thinking about so many things and I love the fact that you provided the names of the resources for buying in Paris, because what fun to be able to look forward to something like that. Merci, beaucoup!
Mirrors are wonderful! I feel like I am moving! We are getting a tiled floor soon, so we are going through drawers and putting things in tubs to simplify. I say that as an owner of 3 sewing machines, and we are donating things. My things and art are such a part of home to me. I once was promised a month in a friend’s apartment in FRANCE. I truly love your style. I’m a 59 year old Texian and came from country folk, but it’s always been very important to me that I learn as much as possible in each chapter of my life. I am so thankful to learn from you that the gorgeous dressers in your apartment are actually called “ commodes” instead of while standing in the entry way of a Parisian apartment and having the shock and confusion show vividly on my face! ❤
Very funny...yes, language references change from country to country! So many people have shared what they "know" a commode to be, which is not a dresser. If you asked for a dresser in France, they would think that is a person who dresses you!! Thanks for joining me.
Hello from New York! Just have to say…you call your stands commodes. Here in the states a commode is a portable potty, usually used for the elderly. I loved your Pookie lamps…I have been called Pookie my whole life thanks to my Dad nicknaming me that! My given name is Leone, which I’m told is a French name. Your apartment is beautiful…thank you for sharing it. Blessings to you.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback. I'm just me on the videos- so I make mistakes at time (like I regularly mispronounce words) but that's why I welcome suggestions!! A sense of humor is a must.
I love the separation of the foyer. I did that to my townhouse. I put wallpaper to section off the space from the front door, coat closet and half bath. Love the commode, at 8:03. I'm going to an antique shop this summer to look for a piece like this one. I have just the place for it. Kitchen lamp is great with the colorful shade. I have bought lamps with boring shades (do they ALL have to be white?), then I went to the fabric store and bought a yard of a gorgeous color. I attached it to the lamp shade, using a glue gun on the top and bottom. It turned out great! Not hard to do. Good job here in your apartment.

You've created a serene, tasteful, and carefully curated home. It's beautiful.
Thank you for commenting! it took me a while but a fun process.
Love the idea of the pocket door to create privacy if/when the l/r is used for sleeping.
It was the contractor's idea and works beautifully!
What a beautiful beautiful apartement. Love the wallpaper and the decor. So harmonious and classic!
You are so kind. I love decorating...don't we all. I also love getting really creative because I can't afford or want big. Thanks for commenting!
Beautiful comments...thank you!
Paris. Sleeper sofa. I will be right over! Lovely home with charming details, thank you for sharing.

Soooo beautiful! I am Australian but was born and raised in Croatia. I love anything French because it speaks elegance..... like your apartment. You are very blessed. ❤️❤️❤️
I am blessed and remind myself of that quite often...especially when I want to complain about something. Thank you for your kind comments!
I agree, Cathy....

I loved seeing your apartment. So tastefully decorated, and those mirrors! Thank you for sharing.
Happy to hear you like it!
I am a 60 ish male , live in Italy, travel often and study more. Your abode is genuinely gracious. Most importantly, it has a most important
‘ingresso ‘ and a pleasant layout throughout.
Thank you for your kind comments!!
Prego.
Congrats on your recovery and best wishes to getting back to 100%! Now go live your best life❤
Congratulations on your journey to recovery! I am a 2X breast cancer Survivor, so I can appreciate how far you've come.
Treat yourself to flowers often, you deserve it!
Godspeed 🙏
Wishing you a long happy healthy life 🩷❤🧡
Having lived in Paris as a single person for 24 years (I'm now in Normandy), this apartment is quite the find. Brava
Thank you! I can tell you are a true designer. I added things piece by piece, so it means a lot that you appreciate the end result.
This is what living accommodations are like when I woman takes over….form and function!
You made me laugh! How many spaces have we sat in and redesigned for better flow and function as you call it. Sooo many....
Well said!
Yes...French bread. It is THE best. Living in a hotel for 4 months must have been fun. You've got a story to tell...write the book!
@@tc-gd8ln Quite large ? We have many large apartments in Paris. This one is only 2 rooms, therefore only some 60 sqm, which is average.
How wonderful of you to share your private space - your beautiful home. Thank you for inviting us in. Blessings.
Blessings to you and thank you for joining me!!
Thanks so much for sharing your apartment in Paris. I enjoyed it very much and love all the clever charming touches you added. ❤❤❤
thank you for your compliments and welcome!!
I was going to say the same thing. She has to be wealthy. Out of my humble lifestyle.
Living tiny is relative. This to me is not small. I live in a cottage much tinier than this in Devon, England
Exactly 💯
@ rosaoddin4338You are right about the size, location etc., however one does not need to be wealthy. A smaller more ordinary and perhaps rented apartment may be transformed by a flair for design or by following the ideas of others, such as in this lovely video. Buying prudently at les puce or brocante is the secret of inexpensive beauty for many apartments and homes in France and everywhere else in the world😊
There are still a lot of useful ideas this woman give. I thank her for that.
Now that’s a perfect French apartment!
thank you and welcome!
@@sarawoods1450 Absolutely not « French ». International. Could be anywhere.
Beautifully decorated. No clutter, quality pieces, and lovely soft tones. Inviting and sensible for daily living.

What a lovely tastefully decorated apartment! Love all the mirrors. Thanks for the home tour
Thanks for joining me on my tour and sharing!
That is lovely wallpaper. And that lamp is special for sure. I gush. It is a pretty kitchen and it has a window which is perfect.
Thanks for joining me. Windows in kitchens are the best additions.
Beautiful apartment. Perfect size.
thank you!!
Great feedback...you sound like a decorator! Love the lamps in usual places idea!! Thank you.
MAGNIFIQUE congrats lady 🙏👌🌺
Welcome and happy you found me. Steal away...All my great ideas have come from things I've seen elsewhere!!
What a lovely blend of traditional and contemporary furnishings. I love the tall windows and mirrors too.
Thank you for your kind comments....windows and mirrors can make a place.
Oh wow. You nailed the Parisian style of combining old and new in a way that feels organic. I would live there in a heartbeat.
thank you for joining me!!
😂😂😂😂yeah. U would if u had MILLIONS. Obviously unaware how much does that apartment cost in Paris
@@teddysdadcory « Parisian style of combining old and new » ? It is done EVERYWHERE. This apartment has nothing Parisian.
I liked the bed and headboard and bedroom the best, with the breeze from windows. That would be Heaven to sleep in that room. Next, the kitchen was inviting to have a nice coffee or tea with a croissant or 2.
You are so right!! Thank you for joining me!
I like the grey, off-white aesthetic with touches of gold: very elegant and highly liveable. Less is certainly more as they say and not everyone needs acres of space.
So true!! That is something I finally learned. Thank you for joining me!
The apartment looks wonderful, very polished design that is also practical.
Furnishing an apartment like this with beautiful flea market finds must have been so much fun :)

Beautiful apartment. Décor is lovely. The apartment is very cozy the layout is nice.
it is perfect for me...some would need more storage but I find we fill up whatever spaces we have!
Congratulations, enjoy it fully!
thank you! Yes, maybe it's when we no longer need to watch children that we start to put up those walls so we don't have to look at a kitchen mess.
Lovely apartment and the mirrors and hardware. I've framed a Hermes Scarf for my bedroom. You created lots of storage with the dressers.
What a gorgeous apartment. I actually learned a lot. I will add a desk next to my bed like you did because it is just wasted space. Thank you so much!
multi-purpose rooms are wonderful!!
I'm French and absolutely love how you arranged and decorated your apartment. You have exquisite taste. Those mirrors and old furniture give it a lot of personality. I also love the framed Hermes scarf. Enjoy the wonderful vibes of this very special place before you move on!
So Beautiful!!!! I’d love an apartment exactly that size in Paris. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for commenting! it's around 670 sq. feet or 63 sq. meters. Tiny by most people's standards but you are right, absolutely perfect.
While I could never afford an apartment like this, it has great design inspiration to use in any size space. Even tiny spaces! The balance between elegance and function is perfect!
LOVE what you have done with your small space. It’s warm and cozy, but very chic! Great job!
thank you!
Everything is just perfect! The wallpaper in the foyer, the perfect cream colored walls, the art, the colors of the furnishings.
You created continuity between the spaces, all while giving each its’ own special moment.
Tres Magnifique!
thanks for your lovely comments. You sound like a real decorator!!

@@extraordinarywomennextchapter Merci , you see a few Frenchies appreciating your US touch on French stuff :-)
@@marsery Très français ? It seems very international to me. A typical French apartment has mouldings, ceiling roses, marble fireplaces… - which give it a soul. This one is not bad taste, it is just nothing special.
Lovely pied à terre. I love the addition of lamps in the kitchen.
Much easier to see in the kitchen with the lamps but also ambiance in the evenings. Thanks for joining me!
@@cynthiastewart5171 It is not a pied à terre. It is the lady’s residence. A pied a terre is a small secondary home in a city.
Superb suggestion!!!
I was also thinking about how to cover the windows of the armoire. Fabric is an excellent idea. You could also install beveled mirror panels.
A fabulous apartment! It’s a wonderful inspiration for my 450 sq ft space So many creative ideas to take away It’s very tastefully done, and so calming. Thank you for opening your home and sharing! You are living my dream! Enjoy!❤
Beautiful tre chic! Love everything, the simplicity, the sophistication. Elegant and airy for a small space. In other words, it's Paris. And so inspirational! Thank you.
I just love it! It’s nice to get ideas from people- I often get frustrated because I want so much all at once but no funds! I then freeze because I get overwhelmed with the decorating process. I beautiful, cosy space is very important to me!
I'm working on my daughter's new home at the moment and there are wonderful things in consignment shops and resale shops....We went to a church rummage sale a few weeks ago and on the last day, everything was half off!! Keep looking and it will all come together. Thank you for your lovely comment!

I love your apartment Sharri. To me it gracious but a cosy and homely vibe too. Having the modern larger kitchen makes living in a smaller space very livable IMHO, and I do love the window drapes and sheers. 👏👌🥰
Thank you! It is a special place for me and fun to decorate!
Thank you for your lovely comment! It sounds like you are working hard to make your own next chapter a special one.

Your apartment is beautiful and so relaxing with all the colours you have chosen.

That was so long ago. Thanks for sharing a modest escape that is more reachable than buying a chateau in France!
