Awesome work. TGV! Love your scathing humor in this episode. I was actually laughing out loud. Merry Christmas young man, and may it be a joyous New Year for you and yours.
Merry Xmas TGV, thanks for a wonderful year of content! im rounding out the yeqr on 3 purchases. A Bremont Martin Baker, Bulova spaceview (68) and a G-Shock (the Total Recall looking one!), the latter two were informed by your channel !
I had to immediately go take my 1966 Top Time out, smile and just shake my head. Great job, TGV, especially when not feeling well. Hoping you are on the mend and wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and onward.
I thought it was your thing for years was to say that you never judged a watch until you had it in your hand? I remember countless videos where you’d champion that you’d never make videos about watches you’d never seen or touched because in the metal things can change. You even looked down on watch UA-camrs that did. So much of your opinions are looking down on other parts of the community now. Whether it be “vapid watch dealers” or anyone that owns a sports Rolex etc. you’ve become very bitter. I agree Patek had a terrible year but I do believe the 6007 was their only saving grace. Here you talk about how much you “despise it.” When did you start polarising so much with your language and opinions? If yourself from 4/5 years ago heard your own opinions now I think you’d have called it out as the opposite of how you wanted to be and not in line with your ethos. The 6007 looks great in the metal. It’s a different look for Patek and at least with that model they tried something a little different. You mention how Rolex are boring for their incremental updates but when Patek do something different with a Calatrava you’re crying “stay in your lane making watches for old boring men!” I like the look of the 1908 but picking it as one of the watches of the years when it’s priced at nearly £20k in amongst where the holy trinity/Lange etc, truly haute horology pieces live is kind of insane. It’s nice but it’s not in the league it’s trying to be at its price. A VC Patrimony time only 40mm can be had for £21,200 which is less than 2k more than the 1908, it’s on another level than the Rolex in terms of heritage, quality of finish, movement etc. If you went for one of those not at a VC boutique you could easily negotiate a discount that made it a similar price to the Rolex. The 1908 is not a haute horology dress watch buts it’s priced like one.
Thanks Bigcat - great year mate! Your recommendations have been super valued over the years. Maybe its time to add an Acutron or a Hanhart to the collection (loved the doc btw). Looking forward to your adventures next year. All the best - Cheers TGV!
A Christmas Eve treat from TGV. With a croaky voice comes some honest critiques, though with all those b-roll clips of plastics, was surprised the junk that is the Swatch/FF didn’t make the bad 10 😂 Get well soon. Happy Christmas!
I love the way you go against everyone else on UA-cam and put the elegant 1908 in the top ten and the gaudy bubble dial in the bottom 👍. Happy Christmas 😁
once again you've hit the nail on the head! It's not about building the most expensive watch with the most gemstones and the most pointless complications. The true values, the useful functions, the beautiful design, the classic attributes, that's what characterizes a beautiful watch. Not the price tag and not pointless extremes. Attracting attention at any price should not be in the specifications of a new watch development...
But people buy those horrible watches! So what if you and I agree that they should not exist, the companies do want to attract attention to their brand. Those weird Louis Vitton watches, it doesn't matter if they sell or not, it gives LV the illusion of making premium products. Sure, it's all smoke and mirrors but that's how capitalism works.
Apologies, but what's the issue with creating a costly timepiece adorned with precious gemstones and intricate features? Aren't most watches, if not all, essentially devoid of practical purpose? Why is a reasonably priced watch, featuring a straightforward and conventional design, deemed more tasteful than a lavish one boasting gemstones, intricate complications, meticulous craftsmanship, and a unique design? Personally I feel all microbrands featured in this video is boring, merely copy and paste products, why the LV is the most interesting one.
@@tranquangminh7617to me it’s all subjective. While I may think an MM300 is beautiful and other may think it’s hideous. And while I think a Richard Mille is disgusting and over priced another may love it and must after it. I couldn’t care less what people wear from invicta or low tier Timex to the eye watering pieces demanding nearly 7 figures. Just keep a healthy level of respect for others like and don’t be a snob!
My gran used to say to me there’s something for everyone, I agree there’s some monsters out there but we buy what we like not what is popular (or at least I do) one of my best watches I ever owned was a 1990 Omega Seamaster sword hands , wish I kept it ! But then I also have a Tudor Royal black Roman ? Then I like a Chinese Tourbillion and GS 😂 My collection goes from £70 to £18k GBP , all crap in the eyes of “experts”
It’s refreshing to see a UA-cam watch channel end of the year that isn’t about how the polka-dot Rolex OP monstrosity has grown on them and is now a brilliant idea. My favorite watch of the year not mentioned in the video is the Lorier Hydra Zulu. It’s not for me, but I appreciate that they came out with a dinger that is uniquely theirs as a brand.
Your deep resonate basso profundo vocal in this video is rather appealing - adds gravatis to your analysis with a bit of biting irony. Have a great upcoming year.
Hi TGV, Merry Christmas! I was wondering, since you're so fond of the Accutron movements and the Spaceview series. What's your opinion on the Omega f300 line? Thanks in advance for your answer, looking forward to your next videos!
Well I wasn't expecting a watery eyed TGV in the year's final video, speedy recovery man, but a bold and honest piece of content made it all worthwhile. I discovered Tim Mosso, Teddy to Roman Sharf etc this year, but you are my fav, happy to have discovered you, happy holidays !
You’re a real G man congratulations I watch your videos almost since you’ve started this channel and you’re married to the game ! True and original ! How much I appreciate this in these times we live ! Happy new year
I gave u a thumbs up just for the “comet” joke at the beginning. And your Ran poster in the background informed me of an 80’s movie I have not seen, so thanks. Great video.
Thank you sooo much for your views on watches! I've been a watch collector for 40 years and am so sorry to see all those watch "influencer" selling thier business as resellers. Such a shame. Live long and prosper, happy new year!
I just wanted to say happy holidays tgv and community. its been a fun few years together. I will say this tgv I would be curious of you looking as some of the strange complications coming out of china these days they are doing fun things with seiko movements. love to hear your opinion on Atowak and others like it.
Love your takes! More than that, your video editing was magnificent. The subtle message in your imaging, we’ll let him who has ears, hear. Merry Christmas to you and yours Sir!
I’ve just found your page and I have to say I did appreciate this video immensely and I couldn’t agree more with the choices on both fronts. Needless to say I did subscribe immediately after watching the full content and will be an avid follower from now on. Keep the good individual sense going.
Hello TGV! Any chance you could get your hands on the new Panerai radiomir quaranta? I saw the black and blue variants and immediately thought about you and your videos that these radiomir quarantas are pure class.
Niiiice!!! I've been following Marco Bracca for a couple of years now and met him in Tortona at the Watches of Italy fair. Amazing guy and his micro brand is a dream. So cool you mentioned him!
THE best top (and worst) 10 out there! Out field and actually agreeable. Good work as always TGV. I was waiting for the Palombari review, i love that watch! Happy holidays Buone feste!
Another banger! Although you're top picks were enjoyable, you took me out with your worst picks. I needed that laugh 😂 You're one of the best out here in these You Tube streets. Have a blessed New Year!!
Travis! Wonderful to hear from you and thank you for the support as always. My very best to you and your whole family. I look forward to hopefully visiting your neck of the woods again. In the meantime, I hope you have a fantastic holiday season. All the best for 2024, onwards and ever upwards my friend. 😎🥂 T.
homages have gotten better and better and are even more competitive in spec to originals at a cheaper cost in 2023. As an avid watch collector this makes me so excited to see what comes... It was a late 2022 release, but the new thinner seiko gmt movement started integrating more into gmts through 2023 and has lead to better watches as well. The overall quality of watches has improved, even cheaper basic models
Absolutely spot on TGV - ITS GREAT TO HAVE YOU DOING THESE BEAUTIFUL VIDEOS - MANY THANKS for your insights into brands like Marathon, YEMA and Squale, I have so loved owning these and many others like GS, Seiko and Citizen. It’s such a beautiful hobby to have -ALL THE BEST AND HAVE GREAT NEW YEARS 24 - God bless - grazie mille
Brilliant, thanks for sharing. Top shelf, class. Oh my one watch collection, Omega planet ocean, with orange accents, black dial with white markers. Rubber strap, wear it every day, make me smile everytime I check the time. : ) John
I hope you are feeling ok. If not, I wish you a speedy recovery. I drove by the Bulova facility when I visited last month. It reminded me of the episode you did back when you lived in New York. Very cool. Wishing you the best in the new year! --Michael

Wow, nice list, but surprised not to see Omega or Longines that have put put some superb watches as well.

Great 2023 Watch round up! 🤠 Wish I had the time to do a deep dive like that on watches, but it’s great we got TGV on the case 🤗
Happy New Year! 🎅🏼🥳🍾

Interesting selections. Thanks for your thoughts throughout the year. Even though we have different tastes, I respect your view.

Your constant use of Italiano, your stile, and your constant hype for Italian horology gets you a new subscription. Auguri!!
I gave u a thumbs up just for the “comet” joke at the beginning. And your Ran poster in the background informed me of an 80’s movie I have not seen, so thanks. Great video.
Thanks for sharing TGV! Loving the venom paired to the husky voice haha. Repeating last year Hugo’s entry was great. Merry Christmas and God bless
How funny that your #6 was among another watch blogger’s best of 2023. I guess there’s no accounting for taste. Cheers and Happy Holidays TGV!
Thank you TGV. Happy Holidays my friend.

Richard Mille - Luxury never looked so cheap - 100% right, and I can't think of any heckle or come back to that one.
Buon Natale!!! Thanks for being my favorite UA-camr this year!!!

Merry Christmas! Fantastic video, as always!
Dropping one octave and the mustache make you a pretty decent movie villain. Merry christmas to everybody.
Can you give some recommendations on watch publications, or books? I’m especially interested in tool watches… New and vintage. Thanks!

🙌🙌🙌 So glad to hear that, they are both so underrated.
Thank you and happy Christmas to you too.

Totally agree on Patek Philippe, what at step back on watches and after sell service, based on my own experience.
When my worlds collide - RLM X Urban Gentry. That's a watch collab I'd be happy to own!
Spot on this year TGV! Merry Xmas!
The way you described Jacob&Co was so perfect 🤣🤣🤣
Great video.
That yellow Swatch with pink donut looks insanely fun :D
Have a great Christmas :)
Well said to it all TGV 👏👏. Happy New year TGV hope you fell better now. 🎉👍
An episode on Christmas eve is very nice, merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas TGV and Onwards & Upwards into the New Year! 👍

Great video as always. Wish All the best to all for the new year.

Merry Christmas TGV, from an OG from Bulgaria!
I love that Zenith Chronomaster Sport and intend to own one eventually, but I would also mention the Zenith Chronomaster Revival Chrono 37mm, which flew under the radar when it was released a couple of years ago, but is drop-dead gorgeous, especially the "espresso" dial variant that I recently purchased.
Hi TGV
Patek.....what are you DOING?😆
Have a happy holly day and keep up the good work❤️
Seasons greatings TGV! And also THANK YOU for all your hard work this year. 👍👍atb Snack.
Happy Christmas, TGV. All the best in 2024! Thank you for such rich and wonderfully thoughtful content.
TGV I love the 'techno bumbers' you use between watches! just wondering if you were into that scene in the 90s? the BEST years for hardcore, Gabber, etc! the BEST parties! those are the Dutch created genres that exploded in popularity. for a good reason! but maybe you already know what i'm talking about? dunno much about you but you seem to be a man of the world. anyway i'm glad i found this channel and I wish the New Year to treat you and yours the best!
and i love you're a RLM fan!
Love to see you savaging those piles of proverbial at the end there TGV…let’s see more of the Urban Grinch next year!! Lol😂 best wishes for Christmas one and all xx
My favorite watch release this year was the 55th anniversary Seiko 5. It took everything I loved about my 809 and improved upon it. My only gripe is that the logos are printed instead of applied. Its also the watch that made me break one of my collecting rules. Which is/was no limited editions particularly from Seiko and Omega.
Merry Christmas TGV. I do like that Swatch Watch you showed.
It was a great 2023 with you TGV !!!
Grazie amico mio per avermi incluso nel video. Mi hai fatto emozionare😊😍. Auguri di buon Natale ed un fruttuoso 2024😊🙏🏻
Great video, Merry Christmas!
Excellent video, 100% agree on all of them.
Another great video!! Thanks and get better!! Have a great and safe holiday and new year!! Onward and upward for 2024!!!
My favorite and most worn watch this year was my Longines Titanium Big Eye. I've worn it as a daily driver for a full year and i can barely see any scratches. It is also very accurate.
Merry Christmas, TGV!
Well said, Merry Christmas
Merry christmas TGV!
Great line up...thank you.
Most enjoyable episode by any YT watch reviewer of 2023. Best wishes!
I can tell you are a child of the 80s and 90s by your Christmas ornaments. Merry Christmas 🎄urban gentry/TGV!
Would have loved to see Farer on your top 10 list, I think they do some really nice work. Also I am shocked about the Patek's 😅 what the hell??
Merry Christmas TGV
Bravo. Genuinely appreciate that you bring to our attention watches and brands that we may not always be aware of. There have been loads of these “best of…” videos recently, where the usual predictable fare is discussed. Your lists are head and shoulders above the rest. Look forward to your content in 2024. Merry Christmas and a happy new year
Buon Natale a tutti! Thank you TGV for positively distracting me in 2023😂
