It is so admirable you took the time and effort to make this walkthrough for fellow players to follow. Series like these are exceptionally difficult to come by as they take time and commitment. I want you to know that, on behalf of everyone watching this guide that chooses to take this advice, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)
I am also following this video, I appreciate it but I believe I have never heard such a boring UA-camr in the past. I follow the rest of the videos and seriously 10 minute work takes 45 minutes. Not hating just stating that it could be much better.
@@JohnBotoKun in my opinion, her calmness is nice and soothing. a lot of youtubers are too enthusiastic and loud, but she's pretty charismatic in that way.
4 years later and this is still the only good guide I found. I’m surprised so many people can make sense of all the parts. Got to hate how while Bethesda makes great reactive games, they’re also dumb enough to not allow scrapping everything once you get a new settlement. Like the Murkwater one. Thanks a ton for being the one to explain things so well. It’s annoying to see other people with titles like “How to set up vault lights.” But they have mods installed, which is pretty moot for PS4 players. I have Fallout 76 arriving tomorrow, so gonna watch your videos on that when I’m able to start it.
I always put stuff at random places that I see empty, thinking that "I can change it's position if I need to", but in the end everywhere gets overcrowded and whole settlement becomes a huge mess.
I was so overwhelmed when I first started this DLC months ago. I knew I wanted to build a vault but didn't know where to begin lol. Decided to buckle down and do it over the holiday. This vid helped a lot thanks.

Great stuff. I like the way you talk your way through your thought process. That really helps me to follow and understand what you are doing. ( I also appreciate that you have no need to drop F-bombs all over the landscape. It really detracts from some videos.) Thanks for your efforts. Quality stuff. And helpful.
Usually I get frustrated with videos like this and start yelling at my phone for the person to do something differently lol but this is the best Vault 88 guide I’ve found!
I love your video series, I know it's late in the game now, ancient history for you, but my son got me Fallout 4 for my last birthday and I've been hooked for the past 3 months. This vault construction however, is insane, and your tutorials really help a lot. Between yourself and others like Oxhorn and Skooled Zone, this fairly glitchy game can be tamed for a great settlement building experience. Keep up the good work, love your vids and love your voice.
Hi. Here i am 8 years later watching all your Vault 88 videos. I wanted to thank you because after watching your videos (i was stuck on what to do) the ideas just kept coming. 😁
You can still build overseers desk first if you want. You cant move it because the lady is sitting. Have her get up and move to move desk around. Good video though for sorce of info. 👌👌helped me alot thanks.
So I’ve been playing fallout 4 ever since it come out but never had enough money to get the DLCS, now I bought all the DLCS and I had trouble building this vault, I looked up other videos on how to properly build it but none of them really gave step by step directions on how to build it, thank you for this playlist 🖤
Thanks a lot for these tutorials. I recently just started playing Fallout 4 again (out of boredom). My first time around, I didn't build *anything* down there because it was so overwhelming. I had a ton of beds, a ton of crops, and a ton of settlers to man those crops... that's all. No walls, no lights, lol. Didn't matter because I used the Red Rocket as my "home" anyway. This time around I'm building a proper vault to live in. I've only watched this first video, but it's great so far. This is lots of help.
I got recommended to here from the comments on a vault 88 build (tour) video. This video is exactly what i have spent the best part of a day searching for. Thank you so much for doing this however many years ago. I got in the vault and was completely stumped. You explained very clearly what to expect and I appreciate that too! Thank you from one Dovahkiin to another.
Just found this channel and I've gotta say, so far I'm really impressed with your settlement builds. You're actually the only settlement builder I've found that doesn't just talk about random stuff in their videos and instead you provide a detailed guide on your settlements which has definitely earned you another subscriber.
Just got FO4 a couple weeks ago and the vault add on the other day. I took your basic idea for the atrium, but doing the rest my own. Thanks for your videos.
thank you for the way you have presented your how to build. i have had this DLC for ages now but not done much with it as i have had no clue whats so ever and you dont make me feel like a dufus. RESPECT
I’ve had the vault DLC for years and I could never fully commit. Just restarted and this video series has seriously helped me figure out the first steps to getting a vault going. Thank you so much for your time and effort!
You can move the Overseer's desk at any time. You just walk up behind her and aim for the monitor and it should give you an option to 'use' the terminal. She'll move away from the desk for a VERY short time, so you need to be quick about putting the desk back in your inventory. The entirety of the building area is HUGE. Also, for building off the main ground the supports are what you want. You can remove them after, but they make it so the different 'cubes' line up with the rest of the floor.
I found this quite educational. I followed your build step-by-step and I found that if you had put the glass in the Overseer's window early on, you could attach the office directly to it. I'm looking forward to reviewing further builds.
I legit clapped when you got the Overseer's windows to line up. I'm doing another playthrough right now and I never would have figured out those Atrium pieces without this video. Loved your Nordhagen Beach and Abernathy Farm builds too! I hope you are well. Thanks for all the building tips!
You just gained a subscriber. I've been looking at other channels for a basic guide how I want to shape my vault but none of their videos were very good. However this video was amazing and you explained how things worked. Keep up the great content
Really, really appreciate this guide. I had no idea where to start and my vault was a mess. With this I was able to get going and make some nice areas.
Thank you for this. The vault space is indeed intimidating once everything is cleared out. Just wish there was a way to connect the vault to the other parts of the cavern.
So a few years ago when I got fallout 4 for my Xbox One I followed your videos on building my vault and did a mix of doing what you were doing and winging it on my own and I absolutely loved the result. But, I ended up using mods and some of them were deleted and I wasn't able to find them again so my vault was absolutely obliterated. I was honestly very heartbroken because I worked so hard on it. I just recently got it for the PS4 and have decided to give it another shot, so I seriously want to thank you for working so hard on this build series. From one vault dweller to another, I know just how aggravating the vault building can be.
As for the Overseers issue you had, i found out that inserting the round glass in the hole will then let you put that other piece over top of it from the outside where you were!
After only just buying the vault-tech dlc, and being utterly stumped for ideas, I turned to UA-cam for just another mindless tutorial for a Vault, but instead I found a great channel with amazing content and perfect personality. This is very helpful! Don’t worry about messing up. I came here because I couldn’t figure out how to build this vault so it’s nice to see someone work through the issues with it.
Building is my favorite part of this game and I'm going crazy with vault 88. I played this game multiple times so now I'm playing with mods and just have to get Vault 88 built. I'm already loving this series and will definitely finish up watching! Thanks for the great info, SUBSCRIBED! 😂
+Wasteland Dovahkiin I agree with Rusman80 , seeing the trial and error really helps because I'm sure a lot of us are scratching our heads on layout design. Thanks for the video ! I kind of was thinking a short hallway and then the atrium and take it from there. Thx again !
Agreed. I knew I wanted to build the atrium first in the main hall, but after that and how to line it up was giving me fits. I appreciate her showing how to use the atrium pieces rather than just saying this is how you place them. I may end up using her starting atrium in my play through for a base, then expand beyond. Thank you so much WD ;)
turrets.. 8 monthsbut ye. I didn't build a atrium for mine so Icould have more room for every single room. I just put heavy laser turrets by the entrance and guard posts inside incase raiders spawn inside which they do. and I believe they can kill barstow so you want ot be careful with that.
Thanks for posting this, really needed the info on snapping things (those damn hall to doorway segments). I even borrowed your atrium for inspiration, though ran the overseer's steps off the upper level, where they fit in well.
The fumbling works for me. I had problems for a while trying to get the pieces to line up and made the same space 4 times before i realized it just didn't work. 1 idea, you might try a bar on the side of the atrium with entrances to the side so the entire front is open with just the guard rails. Great work, thanks for what you do.
If you're on console, there's an easy way to duplicate basic materials, not items though. But things like rubber, steel, wood, etc will work. 1) Get a save, just in case anything goes wrong 2) Go into the workshop and take all of the item you want to dupe (in this case, take all of your rubber) 3) Drop all of your material (rubber) on the ground. 4) This is the hard part. HOLD your finger on the 'scrap' button, because the option to scrap only appears once the button is released. Now you want to quickly slide your finger off the 'scrap' button and on to the 'store' button. If this is done correctly, you'll see two windows appear, press 'yes' on both of them. Now let's say you had 20 rubber, if you scrapped and stored that 20, you'd end up with 40 rubber. Repeat this as many times as wished.
+Wasteland Dovahkiin no pardon to be had! they're videos to help people knock out with the quickness, you have a soothing voice and I just thought that it would be awesome if you made one
Ah, okay. I hadn't thought of it. Truthfully I never thought my voice was all that special. But apparently a lot of people think otherwise, lol. It's been quite a bewildering surprise to me, to be honest. But thank you, I am flattered.
+Wasteland Dovahkiin no thank you for all your super helpful guides and tips!! You've helped soo much! And yes your voice is quite special! very easy on thee ears
I'm late to Fallout 4, but this is something I have been having trouble figuring out. Thank you! Seeing you as you learn makes me feel like I am not completely dumb. :)
You totally earned a lot of deserved gratitude for this. Thank you so much. I was at a loss on how to structure my vault. You saved me time and headaches.
I left my vault open in the middle and used the "garden" part of Settlement Markers mod to add grass (plantable) and water squares for growing tarberries. The ceiling blocked the big lights, I couldn't light any way that looked good. Wish we had a "sky" light like the institute!
Your cat 🐈😹 I keep hearing him faintly and it's funny for some reason. Thanks for the inspiration. Not going to do it exactly like yours but it is a very good way to start 🤘 Edit: it made me laugh when you talked about putting a security office so people don't just barge into the overseer's office.
You have an understanding of this game and just like angles and stuff that I don't think I could ever match. I'm jealous. I know I'm late to the party but thanks so much for the vids. Big help.
7y later, 😂, but I need to say, the overseer window, use a glass piece of overseer window, then you can snap it and begin up to bottom, I hope you know that by now 😂, good guide tho, needed a reference, only place I want to build manually, since SS2 everything is easier, better, and more loveable 😊 What I did was 1st floor underneath the overseer office I've build there a small security office, my stairs are going like this example, ==Overseer== ( < Stairs on the left side from the bottom to 1st floor ) ( > this is from 1st floor to 2nd for overseer office ) this is what I did based on your layout 😊
Great start. I agree with stairs offset and with having the atrium as a 'community' section with barber shop, cafe, and general shops. I think gym, weapon shops, clinics and things like that should not be off the atrium. Just my 2 cents. And you are right too many pieces.....first time we ever heard that comment. I know it's not finished, but maybe a couch or chairs with magazines in the Overseers 'waiting room."
I watched this and got halfway into it... 18 minutes or so... and thought, "Great. Now I gotta redo my vault 88." When I started my build on vault 88 in that main huge cave area, I thought small scale. I didn't quite know how this vault 88 build schematic would even work. I was new to that type of building material. I used mostly the blue vault pieces to make rudimentary hallways and rectangular and square basic rooms. I even got a 2 story section that's connected with that "hallway" type staircase. I got 1 big square room for 18 beds. I got a dining area with 6 vendor stores. The drink machine the overseer wants to you build, is there. I managed to watch other UA-cam videos on how to properly power the place, I got my overseer ghould lady stationed for now in the main lobby of vault 88 in the security office. Yeap. That's her overseer's office. I might move her into the vault with the general population, but she kind of gives me the Willie's, so maybe not. But then I saw this video. A video I should've seen when I first stepped foot into Vault 88... which was an accident to be frank. Long story short, I got shot at by some raiders near a quarry near Quincy, I hate getting shot at by Raiders, so I wiped them out, all of them. And that led me to vault 88. Opps. Anyway. Got into the vault. Did the overseers quest (most of them) cleared out all the other caves and the scrape and monsters, etc. Went to start building. Didn't have any idea what to build. Just started slapping down floors and walls. I got 17 people residing at my vault 88. They seem to be happy with the place and it's layout. BUT, I SAW THIS PLACE! Now I have moved all 17 bums out of the area so I can tear down and rebuild. Because the place shown in this series of videos is pretty cool. And I gotta have a cool looking place like this. 😊 Thank you for reading this rabble.
I had gotten this dlc a few days ago and I didn't know what to build or how to make it look like vault 81, 111, etc. This guide gave me some ideas. Thank you.
Thanks for recording how you built the vault - it serves as a good tutorial for those who get a headache - like me. It's nice but at the same time overwhelming for me. While I feel that this classic vault layout (compared to 81 for example) seems to waste space (upwards) to some extend it seems easy to use. If I drop my current attempts I will use this.
The power generator does connect to the vault space, automatically. Power is conducted through the floor, but needs to be radiated via the snappable wall conduit boxes.
This is a while after but using your videos as a tutorial is really helpful, I was so lost starting to build the vault but your inspiration really helped to also give me my own ideas
Gosh, I was having the same problems with the stairs!!! I was trying to coming up with something but always when I got to the stair everything went wrong. Had to see someone making some to finally understand. Kinda like it what you did with the security stuff for your overseer office. I made mine a waiting room with some couches and magazines I’ve collected through the game. Fine tutorial we have here 🍷🗿

I really enjoyed your video so very helpful wouldn't know what to do if I haven't watched this so big thanks for helping me out
Building vault 88 seemed almost overwhelming for me. This seriously has help and I appreciate how you do it step by step.
This is dope. Like 20 hours of content on how to fully understand this FINALLY..thank you so much.
there is a merlic queen down that tunnel
Mirelurk*
Samuel Bastable Yeah haha, im shit a spelling
The good news is, it won't fit in the tunnel, so you can shoot the crap out of it and take virtually no damage.
+Noledad77 lol that's what i did
+Wzrd same lol
Building is my favorite part of this game and I'm going crazy with vault 88. I played this game multiple times so now I'm playing with mods and just have to get Vault 88 built. I'm already loving this series and will definitely finish up watching! Thanks for the great info, SUBSCRIBED! 😂
Killing the overseer will complete the quest.
"Vault Tec disliked that."
How can you say that. Honestly. We all deserve a better future underground.
troll
Well at least I'm no liberal
General whale making me lol , funny guy.
Replaying Fo4 and always come back for this video just because I can't make a vault that I'm satisfied with.
Screaming at PC? Check :) lol
it really helps seeing the trial and error when building thanks for sharing your work .
Oh good, because there's definitely going to be a lot of that, lol!
+Wasteland Dovahkiin I agree with Rusman80 , seeing the trial and error really helps because I'm sure a lot of us are scratching our heads on layout design. Thanks for the video ! I kind of was thinking a short hallway and then the atrium and take it from there. Thx again !
+Wasteland Dovahkiin honestly I wouldn't have known where to start without your help you're an awesome designer
she deserves more subs
I love how she does one thing and goes back and completely redoes every thing she did.
some of the shit ive tried building wont fucking snap to each other
You are doing better figuring out these things than I would. That is why I watch these videos.
waited for this cause i suck at building the vault
+Twi-Man il just build the same thing and for rooms i should be fine
thanks for the ideas and looking forward to more from ya
How do you get DEFENCE in vault88?
with the guard posts
I even borrowed your atrium for inspiration, though ran the overseer's steps off the upper level, where they fit in well.
you are a tad bit irradiated darlin
jack cook it's just her glowing personality
The fumbling works for me. I had problems for a while trying to get the pieces to line up and made the same space 4 times before i realized it just didn't work. 1 idea, you might try a bar on the side of the atrium with entrances to the side so the entire front is open with just the guard rails. Great work, thanks for what you do.
Dat cat tho
TITANIC officer lol
So that's how the stupid door frames work.
Thanks for putting this together - still useful to people 6 years later!
Uggggh I ran out of friggin rubber!!!!!!
If you're on console, there's an easy way to duplicate basic materials, not items though. But things like rubber, steel, wood, etc will work.
1) Get a save, just in case anything goes wrong
2) Go into the workshop and take all of the item you want to dupe (in this case, take all of your rubber)
3) Drop all of your material (rubber) on the ground.
Great video, Very surprised there isnt a lot of videos that can compete with this guide, STILL VERY USEFULL !
you have such a great voice, have you ever considered making ASMR videos?
Pardon my ignorance, ASMR?
Wasteland Dovahkiin is this a mod dlc or can you do this for free
You are probably the only one out there that has ACTUALLY physically Made A Proper seires of building a Vault
Kudos to u
Finally. A video with actual building instead of just traveling and gaining access to parts of the vault.
Oh my gosh thank you so much. building this freaking vault was so damn upsetting.
Absolutely love this! I started building with no clue as to where I wanted things.
You just gained another subscriber. Hands down the best video on vault-tec building. Thank you so much for this great guide.
Thank you! Welcome to the channel :)
To build the Overseer office before the connecting corridors, use the overseer window from STRUCTURES>VAULT>DOORS.
Great channel with great videos, you have mastered Bethesda and your content is original and cool, Keep it up!
Your cat 🐈😹 I keep hearing him faintly and it's funny for some reason. Thanks for the inspiration. Not going to do it exactly like yours but it is a very good way to start 🤘
Edit: it made me laugh when you talked about putting a security office so people don't just barge into the overseer's office.
You have an understanding of this game and just like angles and stuff that I don't think I could ever match. I'm jealous. I know I'm late to the party but thanks so much for the vids. Big help.
7y later, 😂, but I need to say, the overseer window, use a glass piece of overseer window, then you can snap it and begin up to bottom, I hope you know that by now 😂, good guide tho, needed a reference, only place I want to build manually, since SS2 everything is easier, better, and more loveable 😊
What I did was 1st floor underneath the overseer office I've build there a small security office, my stairs are going like this example,
==Overseer==
( < Stairs on the left side from the bottom to 1st floor ) ( > this is from 1st floor to 2nd for overseer office ) this is what I did based on your layout 😊
awesome build. the vault overwhelmed me... after watching this vid i had almost no problems mastering the vault
ive used your guide 2 times now for my playthroughs thank you for all the effort you have put in
Great start.
Now I gotta redo my vault 88."
When I started my build on vault 88 in that main huge cave area, I thought small scale.
Thank you for reading this rabble.
Ughh finally something I can understand! Thank you! I was so lost with the walls.
Fine tutorial we have here 🍷🗿
I've been playing fallout since 1997 I've basically been brought up playing games like this, love your content keep up the good work I'm subbed.
Thank you, welcome! :)
As someone who was deeply confused by this DLC, I love watching Dovahkiin figure all this crap out for me.
years later, still grateful that this video was made.
