Hey Paul, I have to say thanks for rekindling my love of Fallout 4! After putting in hundreds of hours i had grown quite bored. Now i'm erasing all my settlements and starting fresh with these amazing tips. Keep up the great work!
Don't know if anyone already posted this but I'm just trying to do my part in bringing in new info about interior settlements like Home Plate to the light. DO NOT leave Power Armors in Home Plate because Diamond City residents can randomly wander in, TAKE IT and later disappear forever from the game. There's a recently discovered bug regarding interior settlements like Home Plate and Vault 88 where they affect each other, even when they are NOT the same place. I'm no expert about this but basically, it affects NPC pathfinding AI when you place objects at certain places (where it is IMPOSSIBLE for average FO4 players to figure out exactly where) during settlement building.
I guess in this respect I'm behind the rest of the class since I had no idea that's what Home Plate was referring to! You definitely taught this student more today than most of the class! Thank once again Paul!
I wanted surround sound in homeplate so what i did was i glitched radios tuned to Diamond City Radio into the ceilings to the point you could barely see a sliver of a corner just in case i wanted to shut them off. It was pretty cool.
And here I was thinking that Home Plate in Diamond City was useless. Looking forward to see the end result :) Once again, great video. Really like your video's.
Glad I found his channel. This room is usually a pain in the ass for me for how limited it is without mods. This is a huge help 👍 I’m trying to no mod Fallout 4.
The idea of having home plate as a sort of museum is a great idea. I love it! I never think of homeplate when I fast travel because I usually use the trading routes view to fast travel to around the map. My Red Rocket has gotten too big anyway with the garage being my museum for now. I really like your other videos too, especially on the fzctory stuff, never dabbled in it.
Thats exactly what i did years ago and am just now discovering others have done it to. I collected so many items my game would crash sometimes so i had to limit what i carried at times.
Love your videos man! Will be a pateron as soon as I can afford it haha! Fallout 4 is such a rocking game and this channel provides a much needed gap in information on settlement building! Loyal fan :)
Love the fact you can fast travel to and from indoors; would never have thought of it. Cheers buddy, great vid. PS. Where did you all those friggin' posters? lol :-)
home plate is great place to store all your legendary items and if you put a metal box in there store all your fusion cores in the metal box it's safe storage.
yep i keep everything there , i also empty the workshops in other settlements and drop it all at homeplate , workshops have a limit and settlers stop filling them when reached
Long-time viewer, first-time commentator, I love the channel, you've done a ton of great work! Except all those times you made me want to go back to a settlement to tear it all down and start over. All while Preston stands behind me ringing a bell and shouting "Shame! Shame! Shame!" So..., thanks? Regarding Home Plate, Blubox84 mentioned this earlier in the comments, but have you tried using the weapon racks as walling material? The plain peg-board racks, the ones without the metal ring, will snap to each other even if nothing is behind them, they kinda hang from each other. So you can attach one to the ceiling walls(where your posters are), and then snap all the way to the floor. The racks will snap, and/or sink into the floor without problem, and can be moved to taste. I also used them to patch up walls in the Sanctuary houses to great effect.
"Long-time viewer, first-time commentator, I love the channel..." Haha, love that intro! Anyway, I'm definitely using the display racks in creative ways. It's taking a while to finish everything up but it'll be pretty epic when I show it off. Stay tuned. ;)
I tried this for a laugh, and ended up having problems with sinking the tables down after a while. But please do show us how it turned out for you! I am really excited to see if it works out for you! 😊😊
Don EJ Sabalboro i do. I still haven’t finished it, so no spoilers, please 😊 having a heap of fun with it. Been procrastinating doing the story a whole heap with building the settlements 😂😛 you have completed it then?
I have been playing around with building out different floor coverings (Tabletops, cabinets, and mats) and I cannot get a consistent, smooth, wall to wall finish. I cannot wait to see how you do it. Please be detailed in your walkthrough!
I just started building. And i am having a lot of trouble laying down carpets. Why do they not auto click onto the concret foundation squares ? Or at least auto click onto each other ? I cant find any videos where other people lay down carpets or wooden floors. Im also using a uso mod so i have access to other floor tiles like the wooden floor clean and vault carpet flooring tiles. Help kind regards K
I usually turn part of Home Plate into a Nuka Cola museum. Then I invite Piper over to share a cola. The various glitches are handy to line up vending machines with the wall, since they have a crazy large bounding box by default. I also installed a weight bench on the lower level, which Piper likes to use while I figure out where the next poster or flag or shelf is going to be placed. While part of the first floor is the museum I used the larger, more run down space as a workshop of sorts, with various crafting tables and labeled boxes filled with extra items or gear. By keeping it all in one central location, free of Settlers, it's easy to keep track of stuff.
Watching these always makes me wanna go back into my save and do cool stuff with my settlements. You're so creative man, homeplate was one of the places I abandoned because of how cramped it was but with the wifi glitch and pillar glitch I feel like it's gonna be my favourite place to work on :D
The only thing about the home plate is the fact that you can't send a supply line there. That's real annoying when your someone like me and have all of your loot spread out across the 30 or so settlements, so it makes it real hard to bring it all with you!
yeah, I don't care for the 1000 bugs. There are 2 things I like Bethesda to fix (although there are mods for it, but come on, it's a publishers job..) 1. supply line to Diamond city 2. scrap all junk at once (only scraped material is distributed among all workshops, not whole junk items)
Loving this, Paul!! Home Plate has always seemed impossible to me, but you've changed my opinion. Will definitely be working on it now. Btw, love all the posters you put up! Thanks for the tips video! 👍
Im new to your vids but man thank you for al the tutorial vids this helps me hell of a lot because sometimes im to impatient or its way to complicated doing it by yourself. So thanks man!
You can stop settlers from stealing your guns by moving ammo to a place they cant access so make a little room you can enter by removing a wall in Workshop mode and place your ammo in a box in that room And for power armour just remove the core
"Inaccesible rooms" do not always work (but often can reduce the issue). Settlers can spawn in weird places when a cell is loaded and settlers can sometimes access things through walls. Removing cores from power armor mostly works but ONLY if you made sure no settler either has a core in their personal inventory or won't have any access to them. Settlers can also loot after attacks and this includes ammo and cores. So unless you check every settler often (mostly after attacks that you have been present with) it is possible a settler gains some ammo and/or cores and when they do they WILL grab any weapon that they have some access to. Then you have the scavenger station that can find ammo and cores which it will store. It will mostly find junk though so this is again rare, but if they do and store ammo/cores in the workbench settlers can and often will grab it if they have access to something that's able to use it. Unless you use some mods things are never 100% safe. Home plate is a location that doesn't have these issues but also in Sanctuary you have the root cellar behind a house that is a separate cell where it's 100% safe to store items you will not want to lose. The cellar however is not a buildable location but you can trust the containers in there to never despawn your valuable loot. Using another settlement that's free of settlers technically isn't safe since it can be attacked and attackers can also loot. Homeplate cannot be attacked and so this is the safest buildable place for you to store and showcase things you like.
Build Strongboxes and put all important stuff in there instead of the workshop. I have had little to no problems with stuff missing, and if you actually have defenses in your settlement, because only a moron would store stuff in an undefended one, then your fine. Also, why do you need to store ammo? You can carry all of it without any weight effecting you.
There are actually some ways you can get more stuff for Home Plate if you have the creation club content for Schlocums Joe which gives you access to brick walls doorways and the windows you can use them in the Home Plate interior and last I checked the Noir Penthouse items also show there but that's mainly furniture. I also believe the Nucola Cafe items will work there as well. That is if you want some tile floors instead.
@@SkooledZone Oh I meant to comment on that video. Okay so you haven't finished a video yet. Sweet. That'll be exciting to see. It's pretty sweet how you used to tops of the tables for the flooring!
You do know that Home plate extends down to a LARGER area that has among other things, a bunker that is only partial, and you can bring settlers into the place.
Troy Blecha I was just coming in here to say the same thing. Don't know if CC stuff is considered "mods" for the purposes of this series or not, though.
Awesome job on the flooring. Home Plate is a bear to decorate without mods or console commands. If you wanted to make a "conduit look" so it can look electrically connected, you can use the tall and short curved vertical conduits. Attach the longer one to the shorter one, then drag the top of the short to the top of the long one, then drag the bottom of the long to the bottom of the short. You can "climb" them up to the height you want. Or, you can also use the stairs to elevate your conduits to the height you want as well and snap pipes to it until you get to the wall you want. With group select, you can turn the whole setup to line up with the walls and then deconstruct what's next to the stairs.
Great vid! I was so uninspired by Home Plate as it seemed so limited as to what you could do, but this has opened up a whole bunch of ideas! Can't wait to see what you've done when it's complete!

Lighting up a settlement for nighttime. You will need skulls for this, depending on how many of those you want to 'plant'. 01. open workbench. 02. go to 'Raider'. 03. scroll up to 'flags'. 04. scroll right to 'Miscellaneous' 05. scroll up all the way. 06. scroll right till you reach 'spiked pole (1)'. 07. Plant 'spiked pole' where you want it. 08. Scroll to 'Power'. 09. Find 'lightbulb (94). 10. Place 'lightbulb (94)' inside 'spiked pole' hanging cage. The more bulbs you put in the cage, the brighter the surroundings.
There is a poster, seen in various locations across the Commonwealth, that does not appear to be available to use in build mode. The 'Giddyup Buttercup' advert pricing it at $16,000. I only found this out after building my 'Arlen Glass 'Giddyup Buttercup' Museum' at The Slog, then going looking for it for some extra decoration. Disappointed enough in seeing it wasn't there to send me looking for a mod that had it. To the flooring of Home Plate, instead of using a table top, could you not do the same thing with the basic wooden floor? It would fit more with what is already there. .
I used a mod (which i know you wont) and shelving to fix hubcaps to the wall in a pyramid shape. The hubcaps will stand upright on a shelf and clip through just a little bit on the bottom. Using the mod id lock them in place on the wall and then move the shelf up slight to form the next one. It was a simple 3-2-1 pyramid but it looked neat to me and i was rather proud of the surprisingly difficult decorating it was. I dont know if theres a way to permantely stick items with dynamic physcis in vanilla or not but just thought id share it. If i can find the picture i made of it I'll share it
Wi-Fi glitch the cycling lights. You can not only put them up with no wiring or conduits, but you can set them to different intensities. I use them in bedrooms and put them on their lowest level.
I will build it as the "Diamond safehouse" on my rr character. What could I do to make it feel more like it? Edit: how did he build the cooking workbench in hp?
Clever stuff. The only thing is im thinking with using the tables 4 hardwood flooring u might paint urself into a corner where u end up group selecting everything unintentionally. Unless u can sink into the preexisting wood floor then ur good! Otherwise, just say mmmmmmmk! Mmmmmmk?
You can't pillar glitch into the preexisting wood floor. But if planned carefully then you could jimmy everything in like a jigsaw puzzle. Any gaps could be covered by furniture or rugs. =)
If I group select everything then yes, but I use the area around the corner to start the group selecting so nothing but what I want gets group selected. I got all the flooring in and it looks pretty good. Hopefully I'll finish up soon and show off a tour video.
I know this video is old, and you may never see this comment, but any follow-up tours of this settlement? I just got back into the game and was hoping to see how the flooring went with the tables

Lighting up a settlement for nighttime. You will need skulls for this, depending on how many of those you want to 'plant'.
01. open workbench.
02. go to 'Raider'.
03. scroll up to 'flags'.
04. scroll right to 'Miscellaneous'
05. scroll up all the way.
06. scroll right till you reach 'spiked pole (1)'.
It would fit more with what is already there.
.
Many normal items are missing from the build menu when you go into Homeplate.
Good job
Ty!
*Build Limit*
There's a fix for that. A mod that disables the *Build Limit*
I have it, and I love it.
If i can find the picture i made of it I'll share it
Did you ever finish your home plate? I've had a look through your site but can't see many tours :)
Still working on it. :) Here's my last update video: ua-cam.com/video/mNiukjEjqOA/v-deo.html
Use rug glitch on the big yellow shelf you can put them in the piller but you can use it as a big wall so you can sepret the rooms
Thanks man
Wi-Fi glitch the cycling lights. You can not only put them up with no wiring or conduits, but you can set them to different intensities. I use them in bedrooms and put them on their lowest level.
Totally. I wish we had knobs in the building system or lighting dimmers to go along with the switches.
Did you ever do the home plate video? I can't seem to find it.
I did do an update video: ua-cam.com/video/mNiukjEjqOA/v-deo.html ...but I haven't finished the whole thing yet. Stay tuned! :)
True! U r a master Jimmyer
When you get more "flooring" done, wont the previous laid tables also "group"?? Hope i said that so you know what i mean
If I group select everything then yes, but I use the area around the corner to start the group selecting so nothing but what I want gets group selected. I got all the flooring in and it looks pretty good. Hopefully I'll finish up soon and show off a tour video.
good video
I know this video is old, and you may never see this comment, but any follow-up tours of this settlement? I just got back into the game and was hoping to see how the flooring went with the tables
Yup, saw the comment :) and yup, there's an epic tour coming soon. Stay tuned!
@@SkooledZone That's so exciting! I'm super stoked to see what you've done!
