The Music is Beutiful by the way...May I ask ...are you on Windows or Mac ...I don't have the Bix Six yet ...but getting it lol
@@paolotonolo1140 I'm on Mac
Could I ask you what your wiring is like for midi? Right now I’m going from the usb hub main out to the mpc. All my midi gear connected to that hub. Then out the mpc usb with the blue cable to my MacBook pro. Problem is, I have to be in controller mode to use the big six with both ableton and the mpc simultaneously.
I record a lot of guitar, bass, and various synths and other keys, so most of my analog inputs are taken up.
I only use USB as of right now
Mr.DSG ..I'M AGUNNA GET IT YAY ...I'M TRAD8NG MY SIX FOR THE BIG ONE ..I EXPRESS HOW HELPFUL YOUR VIDS ARE ...THANKS FROM ALL THE WAY UP ONTARIO CANADA EH
SSL owes you big time. And probably owes you some sales. Thanks for the amazing, no bullcrap reviews!
Hey man I really do appreciate that I'm pretty sure that @ssl doesn't care about us like that but it's all good we do it for the community
great video bruh. just got my big six a few days ago. I started in the analog era of music production. I have come up with a great workflow using the big six for analog gear insertion into my daw and my daw getting headroom and analog vibe from the big six. Keep up the good work. Your videos on the big six were all I watched while waiting on mine to arrive. Thanks for the info.
Heck yeah man I think that’s awesome bro I’m happy for you thank you welcome to the community let me know what you think when you start working with it more
Your content rlly bridges the gap for ppl who r bedroom producers and those who wanna be legit mixers/masterers
Hey man I think we all started there thank you
I just got my big six today TouchTone! I’m so excited bro.! I have a lot of the same gear that you do… Portico2 I have focal monitors… Trio6 but you got them boys! I saw that! That’s wassup. My name is Tanner, bro I watch your show all the time! Keep up the good work dog.
Hey man I'm so happy for you to start your journey with that piece of gear it's fantastic You're going to love it stay in touch would love to hear about it
Starting to get a much better understanding of why the "Big Six" is so highly regarded. Thanks for another informative video. Always learn something from your content.
Hey man I’m glad I could help and you’re absolutely right it’s like the more you start to use this thing it becomes more parent how useful it really is thanks for tapping in as always
Hi, I bought a BiG SiX (aka the "B6") two weeks ago, completely changing my workflow from "in the box" in Cubase. This is a life changer for real. Having faders cannot be overrated. I can now mix with my eyes closed (literally) and "listen and feel" the music while I mix, which is totally impossible with a mouse (or trackball).
The way I setup the B6 is straightforward. If my music has too many tracks, I simply make a first pass using the whole B6 as a drum buss, that I print. Then I simply decide how I'm going to map my tracks on the B6, trying to leave one stereo channel free, and i use it as a reverb return from Cue 2. I use Cue 1 as a parallel compression channel into the main buss. This really gives depth to the whole mix. It's really fantastic and so easy to use.
Hey man I love that workflow sounds like a winner to me I’m glad that you’re liking it
Big six took me by surprise. I was excited to get it but, wasn’t expecting such a dramatic upgrade. Sounds better than the ssl 2 audio interface. The routing is so completely genius. Really speeds up your work flow. Overdrive the analog inputs sounds like ear candy. Best piece of gear I’ve gotten in terms of thinking this is going to make my music sound better. Hope this helps someone.
I agree with everything you said freaking wonderful
Oh yea! Make sure you use balanced cables. That was one little problem I ran into. If your experiencing noise from the mixer. Try balance cables and the manual does mention this. 😀
@@NeuroFrquency I most definitely did thanks for the call out
Thank you so much for this video! I love the simplicity and professionalism of your tutorials, very excited to see the future of your channel!
Thanks man I'm glad you enjoy them welcome to the family
Yooo this was so informative💯 I literally learn something on every video..definitely can see you putting your heart and soul in these vids bro!! Thanks for everything 🙏🏽
My absolute pleasure man
Cool videos man. 👏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you
Thanks for sharing this and blessing us with some fly production. Can you do this to each stem?
Like could you have printed your kick, snare, bass, guitar, etc separate?
Yessir you can
Great presentation.
Thank you
Excellent walkthrough , very informative :)
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it
Great vid man! I just picked up a Big SiX mostly for summing and I’m stoked
As you should be my man congratulations
Much appreciated video, I plan on getting the big six this year and these videos are really helpful
You’re very welcome anytime
Would love to see a in-depth tutorial on how you're integrating your outboard gear!
Coming soon
When you closed you’re eyes while playing your jam… I dig that
Feeling the music 💯
Just ordered mine today. Can’t wait to to get it in the studio. Thank you for this. I just subbed by the way.
Hey man I really do appreciate that and congratulations you're going to love it I got a new video out coming in a couple of days it's an update
thank you bro! keep up the great work!
Hey thanks for the engagement I most definitely will
Great video
Thank you 😁
Another Great video! Enjoyed the track. 👌I can see how much work goes into it. Let me know when I can download it. Super smooth.
Thank you I sure will got more on the way
another banger video, the beat is awesome too.
i was confused about the possible feedback loop, and then right on cue you talked about it. amazing pacing and editing of the video and super easy to follow.
this is definitely my next piece of gear. i want the UF8 too, and i'm concerned about not having motorized faders, but having the preamps and g bus compressor are far far far more important.
Yeah man the UF8 really takes care of the motorized faders especially if you are doing automation it comes in really handy but you’re exactly right those preamps in the drive are awesome
DUDE THIS WAS SICK MAN.. LOVIN THE CONTENT!!!!
thank you man I’m grateful I appreciate you watching
@@TouchToneDSG yup
Great video!
Thank you man 💯
@@TouchToneDSG thank u for answering. Keep doing that great content. Greetings from Germany :)
@@vincent5917 greatings my friend welcome to the community
Great vid, TouchTone. One word of warning for folks from another Big Six owner: Be sure to disable the G-Bus Compressor before you listen back to your print on 15/16 or else you’re hearing the mix double-compressed. Also makes it difficult to A/B against the rough mix if the rough is getting the G-Bus goodness. 😂
Yep exactly that’s what I was saying in the video I made that mistake the first couple times and didn’t realize it I was wondering why it was louder but then I figured it out I made sure to say that in this definitely don’t make that mistake good call out 😁
Ha! Rushed to comment this midway through, but then saw you disabled it @10:15 or so.

just ordered my big six thx 4 the vid
Glad to help
Really loving your content your so cool ❤ you Brother
Thanks man for doing these. Not a lot of info on this console yet. I just got mine. I’ve gotten it to work in controller mode expanding the mpc and also sending tracks to daw, but I just loathe controller mode.
I’m loving it so far apart from that
Agreed man hey it’s my pleasure I got more on the way
I like this channel. Hi from Australia! :)
Thank you man greetings from Arizona
Alright another fire video!!! My six just arrived? Now, its go time...
Yessur
@TouchToneDSG, another great video, thank you so much. I am enjoying working with the B6, amazing sound and workflow. One thing is puzzling me and that is how the stereo cues work with external effects. It seems that you have to do a return on one of the stereo channels for an external effect. You can send a cue to 9/10 or 11/12 and that is great for going through fx in the box but not for external. That is the only critique I have ; no dedicated send and return so you can print fx without losing stereo channels.
So the way that I did it was hook my guitar pedal up to stereo que 1 and also put it in efx return one and it acts like a Reverb over what I’m doing It’s pretty cool because you get some pretty cool tones with it so that’s the way I’m using it and routing it and it’s working
hell yhea. This ssl big six its awsome! Think this is the future.. Next video would be cool to see Eq and compression On and Off, to see the diference, or just a live mix. Nice Video 👍👍
That’s a great idea I’m gonna do that just for you bro
nice work flow my guy. once again another dope video.i have my daw controllers in the same spot, its gotta work! lol. mix sounds great. you got a console work flow goin on with no problems, its a console my guy. i kept my og six for the extra channels and love the setup
Absolutely my guy I love it and this mix came out great because it was really easy to work with you know big fader small fader
I got both two ❤ love it
Thanks for the videos , I just got a big six . It is so nice to see someone using gear doing videos that makes Hiphop/down tempo beats, all other videos are rock. Do you have a video on your whole set up with the flock audio patch bay?
Hey man first of all thank you I appreciate it and secondly I’m working on that video right now because I think that’s important just to kind of show what we have so we can compare and what not
@@TouchToneDSG can’t wait for that video , thx again !
Niiiiiice😎
Thanks Broski
plz do more about SSL Big Six, that s so cool!
I promise there’s more on the way I’ve been preoccupied but I’m good now
I so get all of your “weird” moments lol
🤣🤣
dá deus nozes, good vid

Great videos bro! I bought mine thanks to your reviews. Quick question, how do I route the computer audio through the big six (so I can listen to UA-cam videos etc)? I haven’t been able to figure it out. Thank you and keep ‘‘em coming!
Make sure your computer audio inside of your computer is routed to the big six press external two on the big six and it should come out of channels 15 and 16 and that should take care of your problem
I subscribed to your Chan cuz of my interest in the Big Six.
Thank you
You´re an awesome guy! Love your videos! Just ordered my Big Six and a new computer. Can´t wait to try the new setup! I never thought about using it as a summing mixer. How many channels (from the daw) can you sum at once? Do you need to buy an expansion kit to get more ins and outs? Do you think there is a big difference summing on the SSL vs itb? Better stereo, more space, etc?
Nah bro you get four channels of summing
Analog inserts and a software-controlled patchbay. This producer is making beats with style.
😁😁😁
Just got SSL 6, mini version...How do you send mono track from DAW to superanalog 1 on mixer? Cant figure it out. Whats the routing ( cables and DAW), my interface is Apollo Twin.Thank you, great video.

Hello man! Great tutorial and nice music 😉 I would ask you things.
I have some configuration problem on my b6 with the ableton live daw. I can't send the analog processed channels back on the master track configured on outs 15 and 16. I don't get any output signal and therefore I can't print my mix after equalizing/etc it from the b6 channels. May I ask what kind of routing did you use from ableton preferences and on your computer? I enabled all outputs but nothing comes! I use a mac m1 with os Monterey Thanks in advance. 🙏

Hey friend! Thanks so much for all of these videos on Big Six. Quick Q:
I noticed on this mix there are no sends/returns for effects/reverb/delay. I hear reverb on some of your instruments. Do you print your effects/reverbs/delays and then bring them into Big Six for mixing/analog summing?
Currently struggling with that part because I run out of channels if I bring in my sends/returns. Thanks for any insight!
I have a question when does your UF8 and UC1 come into play with your new set up? Do you still use either for mixing or mastering?
Absolutely the UF8 is my DAW controller and UC1 is definitely my mixing eq and multiple bus compressors
Thank you for your good videos. I'm wondering how you work with return tracks for reveb and delay with the Big Six in Ableton. I just do not understand this. Do you also print the send effects? Or what is your workflow? Thanks!
Hey man make sure you join my discord I’m gonna be making a section just for SSL big six users to where you can ask questions and bounce ideas off each other all day
@@TouchToneDSG Hey Tone, in my opinion, your frank delivery and thorough coverage have established you as a solid audio destination on YT. Your B6 content provided the details I needed to confirm my suspicions that this was the way my brain wanted to go. (It was). My Big 6 just got here a minute ago. Keep on making these, bro, you’ve got the audio gear content stuff dialed in, IMHO.
@@randalnielson6857 Thank you man and I really do appreciate that that makes me feel really good I'm glad I can help I hope you enjoy
yyyeeesssss epic content, man please can you test the latency with a vst synth or drum program, im itching to pull on this but im a usb drumkit player and its a massive factor for me, the big 6 its swish
Hey that’s a great idea I think I will bro and I might put it on like a UA-cam shorter something or put it in my discord make sure you join
@@TouchToneDSG quality, respect
It sounds warm and smooth with punch. Is it truly that without using other hardware?
Yes
@@TouchToneDSG I appreciate the feed back brother.
Since you do mix more so R&B and Hiphop tracks could I send you a clean but complex hiphop song I did a few years ago for example purposes. I already released it but will like to know what it sounds like through analog. I was thinking to purchase the SSL Big Six but wasn't sure how my mix will sound on it.
ITS A SHAME SSL ISN'T DOING VIDEOS LIKE THIS AND HAVING THE CONSUMER DO A GANG OF GUESS WORK SMH. GOOD STUFF
Bro that’s exactly why I did it is crazy to me good call out
I wonder if this hardware would go along well with Cubase DAW?
Absolutely
Would you be able to tell the benefit of using 96k sample rate and 32 bit float vs. using 48k sample rate and 24 bit ?
Instantly I’ve done test
Do you still have your push 2? I ask because I know the UF8 is dope, and seen people use the encoders to tweak other plugins. I wondering if my push 2 would do a better job than the UF8 at that task since I only use Ableton?
I do not have my push anymore I sold it it wasn’t getting any used especially when I got the USA with my particular workflow
@@TouchToneDSG ok cool, thank you!!
I really wish it had that 4k button !!!
That would be nice
what if you want to print out all the tracks separate. Sometimes when I send over my song to my mix engineer, he said its better if I send all of the tracks to the beat separate cause its helps when he is putting my vocals with the beat. Also another question, If I use external fx thru the ssl on my song and print out each track separate, will the FX over process on each track. Meaning will the reverb on the strings and piano now be too much when played together because of the print treating each track separately. One last question, in one of your other videos, you mentioned taking the MPC outs into the ssl, then adding fx and mixing. Then you said you would send that back into the MPC from the ssl. Im trying to understand that process
I got to work flow that works in Ableton that's pretty dope I can show you
@@TouchToneDSG would be amazing if you could teach that to us.
So question. I am not yet full time in music and so often my mixes take multiple days. Also, I usually work on a couple projects at once to stay busy. I really like what I see from this so far, but the way you talk about the faders not being motorized scares me. There's no way I can avoid faders moving mid-project. Should I stay away from this?
I wouldn’t say that man all comes down to the belief you have in yourself just don’t touch it or what I’ve done is I’ve taken pictures of the board in sessions detailed pictures so I can bring them back to where I had it so it just depends on your confidence level
Push all the big 6 faders to 0. Then mix using the uf8. It will then save the settings
Good call out
You have select the six as a Interface in ableton?
Yes
I think the only ball dropped by the BIG SiX was loosing the amount of connections of the small SiX.
If the kept it DB25 connections then they could have fit inserts on all channels and probably a couple busses.
It’s probably because they didn’t commit to being either a full analog mixing console or a all in one solution.
Let’s say for a all in one solution they take away inputs on the stereo tracks and put inserts… the returns on the inserts could act as channel inputs, then allowing the usb to still have full functionality of those inserts and make it a all in one solution more so.
If the conversation is way better than a Apollo interface then it’s definitely a wise bet anyway.
I was thinking it’ll be better for a mobile recording setup, until I heard you speaking about the conversation quality.
I’m still not sure on this or the heritage audio summers simply because of the busses on the heritage audio summers.
But then again they cost more than this, have no eq’s or compressors and haven’t also digital converters.
That makes sense man they had to keep the price down
@@TouchToneDSG fair
Don't forget the Cranborne lunchbox/summing/interface which is another seriously interesting option, and it can be loaded with 8 SSL "SiX Channel" modules. It's about twice the price of the BiG SiX, but it offers more too.
I'm sitting here wondering if you can link two of these together,i know there's a way but i just don't know...
Absolutely you can
@@TouchToneDSG HOW???
@@ashaolujimi3751 you can daisy chain these together I actually got confirmation from SSL that you can do that
@@TouchToneDSG Alright, cause the guys at sweetwater told me you couldn't combine them so you could get like 32 in and 32 out as if it's one unit...
