Is this truly the Holy Grail or not let me know what you think
SSL 🏆👑
soon as i pick up the SiX i'll lyk
You convinced me to make the jump and order one.
I was heavy into making music 15-20 years ago but had a drug addiction and sold all my equipment around 2010. Got back into it in 2020 when I started buying gear again. I’ve always been an outboard type of guy. Now I have an MPC Live, MPC 2000xl w/ 8 outs and I have a Rossum SP1200 pre ordered on the way! So I have a lot of need to multitrack record into my DAW or into my MPC. I think the Big SiX is just what I need to expand my routing options, upgrade my focusrite Scarlett preamps, take advantage of the 8 outs on my soon to be SP1200, etc. Plus it’s sexy af
Both very good and powerful but a holy grail console to me costs way more and sounds way better. SSL sounds great, they just have some legendary consoles from the 70's and 80's that trump this (given the treated room and space)
That's a weird take... Seeing as how those consoles that you mentioned cost upwards of $40k🥴@@claycowartisamazing
Thanks for this, very interested in the MPC / SSL Big six stand alone video. Nice chill tracks by the way, great vibes.
Thank you the video is coming as soon as I get my cords I’m actually gonna shoot it while I’m hooking it up
Yup.....make a beat using Hype, sum it down the SSL tracks 15/16 and record that back into the MPC NO computers.
You Spot On! 💯 These are 2 Monsters together I run the SSL Six with the Live II and many other Hardware Devices.
Absolutely That’s a dope set up as well
I route all of my hardware chains into my Neve 5059 then route the 2 stereo outs into the SSL six. I use the insert in the SSL Six for my hardware 2bus chain and run it back into my Apollo/DAW
Love the creativity that’s routing for you thanks for sharing
BRO EVERYBODY IS ABOUT TO DO THIS! YOU WERE HELLA RIGHT! THIS IS THE WAY!
It's all good man just here to help
Im so glad i came across this video. thank you for this 🙏🏼
It’s all good man thank you I actually watch your videos bro so this is kind of surreal to me
We asked and we received A man of his word now we need the studio tour
Yessir coming soon
Your videos are great. Appreciate you! Subbed
Thank you
You make the process look so fun and accessible!! Great content!! & most of the big body akai mpcs are dream hardware for me
Heck yeah man it’s something about a big body MPC
i think you're right it's a perfect combo. i treat it like a console. of course, a lil limited but its exactly the same. great job on the video my guy can't wait to see what you have instore
Thank you man 💯
I love your videos....Great attiude, and helpful content....
Thank you man
👏👏👏 i was just a laptop setup -but now im wanting a combo like this
That's also great you definitely don't need this to make good music but it is cool 😁
I was imagining these two products might compliment each other very well, and hey presto, someone has already made a video! Many Thanks :-)

dope video as always! my friend sent me a text and pic of his new MPC Live 2..man they look soo good! but that combo with MPC and the SSL is crazy!! I dont know how you leave the studio lol i'll just be playing with them all the time

Hey man I love you channel and the way you show things is more comprehensive than a lot of other channels I’ve seen! I was wondering in the future of your Big Six videos if you could do a summing tutorial because I’m having a terrible time trying to route my channels back into the DAW from the Big Six, Thank you and keep up the good work!
Hey first of all man thank you I appreciate you and you take a lot of time on my videos but I try to present the information to people like I want it presented to me yeah and secondly I am actually gonna be doing a video on that I get that question quite often and I think that can help
@@TouchToneDSG awesome looking forward to it!
I like this guy
Thanks man
Dope.
Thank you
@@TouchToneDSG No doubt!
No you're definitely not tripping, you beat me to the punch, I was already thinking of how I could create a stand alone studio without a computer with my MPC One "being that you can plug an interface into the latest MPC's" I was just waiting on the SSL Big Six to test drive it, so thanks for doing this. I think this could be a nice mobile rig with or without a laptop incorporated. The Big Six, an MPC X, Live, or MPC One, maybe a small keyboard, synth or midi controller, one or a few Microphones, some headphones or monitors and you literally have a mobile studio rig. You could even get away with just the Six and the MPC for production!
absolutely man I totally agree basically a mobile studio
Hey just to clarify…seems to be some confusion here…the Big SiX does not currently work as an audio device with an MPC. Pops and crackles in audio. TouchTone is using his MPC here in controller mode with his SiX connected to his computer.
@@deanrinehart missunderstood that too, because I was thinking about possible latentency Problems the whole time. LoL.
Excited to pick this thing up. I’m hoping I can plug it in with a usb hub to the mpc and my laptop and get all my daw and mpc routing to play together a bit better than my regular analog mixer
you’re gonna have no problem doing that
I’m a fan of the MPC but you can achieve routing from the Machine as well for analog textures and processing 🤔😁
Not like this with the big six I can actually insert hardware on a super analog channel
@@TouchToneDSG
Yup thinking I’ll run my machine through the big six and can add processing at that point then into protools. Been thinking about upgrading and doing my own Research and your reviews help thanks bro
Wild times
Agreed
Dope video bro I been looking at the smaller ssl six what do you think of that.
I think it's dope man it is most definitely really good for Sonics and flexibility I don't think you can go wrong
I was thinking of getting an Apollo interface and looked at the prices, do you think I should get this instead due to it''s a mixer too? Also does moving the fader on the Big Six move the fader in the daw? Thanks great content.
I think this is a great option especially for flexibility it does not control your DAW
Great video. The SSL BIG SIX with the MOC Live IS the the ultimate workflow and powerhouse! The two together actually is a world class system. This is a workflow that I’ve already planned on implementing this in my studio. Plus with the latest MPC live update I can connect the big six to the MPC and have a full studio and production mode completely standalone. I would only run the big six through my MPC because it’s a class compliant interface to I can make it so that the entire workflow is not computer dependent at all. So YES this is the holy grail. If you want To make it even more powerful is to connect a powered usb hub to the MPC live. Connect a motu midi interface to the hub, connect a Moog module synth system to the motu and the MPC. Then run a Roland phantom or whatever keyboard you want to the system. No computer needed because you can even add SSDs to the hub connected to the hub. That would be the ultimate holy grail. You could even make it stupid dope and add a second big six to the situation. Hahaha Great video!
Dude that’s freaking awesome you just gave me a great idea with the USB hub because I got a motu Midi interface I think that’s gonna be great I appreciate you tapping in thank you
Thank You So Much!!! 🙌🎯
@@whodz np
The Big SiX does not work with the MPC as a class compliant interface. At least not right now. Pops and clicks.
@@deanrinehart My cords came so I’m going to try it
awesome video! big six and 2000xl with 8 outputs would be a great video
Absolutely it would be game changer
yessir! both coming in hopefully by next week or so , ill check em out and drop a comment
Heck yeah
How did you run the audio from the mpc to/thru the ssl?Usb or cables and why???
Dope dope dope video btw fam…
Thanks man I ran it both USB and TRS cables so I can use it in standalone mode
I ended up getting a SoundCraft LX7II in almost new Condition......man....Im Starting to thing the Medium Sized SoundCraft Consoles are the Best on a Low Budget, Unliess you can afford a full SSL, Trident or API.......I would put my SoundCraft LX7II against...the Little Six, Big Six, Mackie, Tascam 24 or Mix Wizard any day of week...this thing is taking my Masters up to a new level
Ive got 24 Clean Pres, Mixing Bay in Middle of the Board, Aux Sends and Returns, 4 Band British EQ on Each Channel and InBoard Headphone Tracking....you wont beat this unless you can go all the way up to a "High End Console"
Dope decision

thank you so much man that really means a lot to me I just try to bring you guys the best material I know how to do you know what I never thought of that I can actually update my videos with the link now that would be so cool thank you really
Nice video! My only concern are the 6's converters? I sold my apollo x6 to get the SIX as for now iI' running my gear into the MPCX I can hear the converter difference not bad but the x6 was better. I'M wondering should i get a soundcraft mixer for my synths and run into Prisim Lyra2 ,RME babyface or Apogee symphony desk top or will the BIG Six converters be good enough? or the pricer option Big Six and one of interfaces mention? Thoughts?
These converters are amazing you won't go wrong with this combo at all
So are you able to send stuff from your daw into the big six simultaneously as it’s expanding the I/O of the mpc? I have a hybrid setup and would love to create on the mpc, but also bounce back and forth between my daw
Yes you are 100%
I appreciate you making vid. I was hoping somebody would make a video on the possibility of The Big Six working with the MPC in standalone and you made that happen. I have a question about the UC1 and UF8 working with the MPC Live/One/X. Lets say I made a beat on the MP in standalone mode, but I wanna mix and eq it in the MPC software in controller mode. Is it possible to use the SSL channel strip and bus comp plugins in the MPC software and control them with the UC1 and UF8 without a DAW being involved?
It would be a DAW controller for sure and yes the UC1 acts like a plug-in so you have no problem there I’m not sure how well the UF8 would work with that
@@TouchToneDSG That does make sense for the UC1 to work with the software with no problem rather than the UF8. I never took the time to test it cause every time I’m in front of them, I spend that time sketching beats on the MP. Which sits on my desk between the UF8 and UC1. Thanks for the info
@@KainThaBrain anytime
Have you tried the mpc and big six recently using the 6 as a class compliant interface?
Yes that's primarily the way that I used it
To you have to open a daw when both are connectes? Anyway i dont record instruments just maschine and live 2. Do you recommend having a big six?
Yes
I use the ssl six the little bro version. Sounds amazing
Yes it does
MONSTER COMBO!!! lol
Facts
I heard about the SSL SiX via "Hanging out with Audiophiles" Podcast Tony Rolando Episode
I got a check them out
I was just wondering if I could do that with my Eurorack 1622FX-Pro and my 2KXL synced with my MPC Beats software? I know it couldn't do all of the functions of the Live 2 but what would you think?
I’m pretty sure it can you just have to run a couple of line outs
@@TouchToneDSG Thanks Touch Tone nice vid on the SSL but I'm concerned about the too hot issue and the price is because it's an SSL will they have a fix for that?
so I actually talk to them about the they getting warm issue it’s actually supposed to happen most consoles and mixers do but what this is doing with the internal components as it’s supposed to happen that’s one thing I made sure to reach out about also it’s in the manual the price is what it is like I said in the video I think it’s fairly priced especially with all the gear prices that have gone up recently
Question: Can I hook up my MPC One to the big six, have my multiple outs going into the mixer, and at the same time, going out of the Big Six into my DAW on seperate channels?
Yes you can
Have you tried using the Live 2 in standalone mode with the Big Six?
There's not much information about it on the internet if it's working fine together
Yes I have I got some new instrument cables coming within a couple weeks and I will be doing a video of that in standalone mode with the basics great question
I just got all my cables today. I have the ssl 6 and that’s my plan, setting up both devices so I can track mpc through the six. I only use my mpc live in stand alone. It’s something about focusing on just the mpc that works for me.
I totally get it that’s why I can’t wait for my cards to get here I love working with a Mpc in Stand alone mode
@@TouchToneDSG Still waitin on dat video big dawg!
What cords did u need to order ? Cuz the mpc can usb interface too!
Just some trs to use in stand alone
Are there VST plugIns that do this group sum effect too?
I’m not sure
Hey TT DSG - great video, thanks. I have this holy grail in the studio. Are you connecting all via USB and your DAW?
I'm doing both USB and TRS cables
Question my man @TouchTone DSG
So I’m old school with routing so bare with me.lol
My set up would be coming out of the mpc x outs in the back going into the big 6 and going out of big 6 into my daw. That’s the old school way.
Now I see everybody just using a usb way controlling all the ins and outs digitally but does that give you the same sound as physically running audio thru cables in and out of the 6?
I always thought running audio physically thru convertors etc gives you the warmth and fatness but if your just connecting a usb to digitally do it might be easier but your not running any audio actually thru anything…Help me out fam…
hey man I love the question personally the way that you’re doing it to me it’s better because you can use the preamp‘s off of the MPC into the big six into your DAW and yes you get a thicker sound that way
@@TouchToneDSG That’s all I needed to know family thanks,I love the channel btw!!!🙏🏾🌎🙏🏾
@@kenzoblytheproducertv4934 Thank you man anytime
Is there any issue with the MPC (or Force, in my case) being 44khz and the Big Six running 96 khz? Guessing not?
I haven't run into any issue
Thanks for doing this- there were a lot curious people.
Have you noticed and dropouts in audio or pops/clicks when using this combo? There was a guy over on gear space mentioning it, although he never mentioned what he was throwing at it (how many channels in/out).
Hey no problem man and I have not experienced any of those problems it’s been super smooth so far
Hi that other guy was me. I’m getting pops and crackles in audio when using the Big SiX as an audio device with the Live II. Just to make sure we’re on the same page TouchTone…your setup is using the Big SiX with your Live USB only…no audio lines between the two? And no issues?
@@deanrinehart That’s correct but that’s about the change in a couple days because I will be getting some TRS cables in to run the MPC directly to it and we will see you then I’m already running the micro free to it and it’s fine
Ok. In my case, Live II Retro (battery or plugged in) connected to the Big SiX via USB with the supplied USB cable I’m getting pops every 5 seconds or so. Fully loaded with 8/8 tracks or 30/30 no difference…one track at a time or many. Interestingly pops only happen when audio is playing, most evident with plugin tracks.
But yes full disclosure I’m getting household electrical noise in mine despite being on a very beefy iso power box. I do have suspicions the PSU isn’t up to snuff…and people are reporting noise issues with theirs (and a DC offset issue too.
TouchTone can you see if your PSU is labeled “FIDUS”?
Thanks man, I appreciate you.
@@deanrinehart You know that might be the problem bro if I were you I would try running everything through a power supply that at least cleans your equipment three times before it sends it back out that’s what I do and it works like a charm because at one point in time I was plugging right into an outlet in my younger days and I would get so much noise and pops so that might be it or it can be under powered
The big six is a beast !! I have the six and love it... I had an mpc x but sold it because i wasn't using it in standalone mode because i use alot of vst instruments.. And while using the software i realized i was i just was using it as a midi controller.. A $2400 midi controller.. So i sold it to get the big six..
I sum all my beats through the six for the six for that analog flavor and love it..
It just gives the music an openness and depth that hard to achieve if possible with itb mixing.. I also have the ssl2+ .. I love summing through the six into the ssl2 with the 4k engaged.. I wish the big six had the 4k engagement option !! I might not get one because it doesn't .. I love the 4k on vocals too.. That's where it shines... Idk why they didn't include an option that they have on a $300 interface on their $3000 interface .. If i get one im gonna still track through the ssl2+ because i love the 4k on vocals.. I use an Avalon v5 pre an i love how it sounds paired with the 4k... I track vocals through the Avalon into the six lil 1176 style compression a lil 2a compression into the ssl2+ with the 4k engaged ..Customers be like wow ya mic sounds good !!
You know I actually wondered that also I think I’m going to talk about that because I feel like that’s a feature that should have been added from the start I still love it but I would love to have that also thanks for the comment
Love your channel !!!
Thank you brotha 🙏🏾
They do have 4K on the big six
So Im thinking about purchasing the UC1 and UF8 to go along with my big six. I get why I need a UF8. Can I get your opinion on why I would need the UC1 if I already have the big six? Don't they do the same kind of processing?
They do not they're completely different and there is more features on the UC1 definitely get it you won't regret it

i have a six, the thing that you can't explain or describe in a yt vid is it sounds 1000x better coming out your speakers than it does a video, no matter the converters.
Bit of drinking the cool aid, as converters are always the limitation. I'll do some tests when I get a big six, I work in audio industry in electronics, I know the exact chips/converters/dacs. What I know from the six it sounds better out loud, than it does recorded.
Sounds better analog out your speakers than does recorded, I have apogee and doesn't do justice, sounds like crud really, and you'd expect apogee to have half decent converters. Idk six is better for live I reckon.
Analog is always better in my opinion
Analog it's always better in my opinion
Hey Man,
enjoying the Big Six a lot after using it for one week now. Only issue is when i plugin my main Monitors to the main out i have that much headroom on my master recording when i record back into the computer. And when i pluck in the speakers to the monitor section i can not use the faders of the big six anymore and also i‘m not able to mute. Compression & Eq‘s are all working but for some reason it‘s only possible to mix the volumes in ableton then. I read the whole manual & watched everything on youtube. But i still could not figure out. Would appreciate your help again. 🙏🏼
You got them plugged in the wrong place. Plug them up to the monitor section next to the alternate outs and that will fix your problem
@@TouchToneDSG hey man, thanks for the quick reply. I plugged them exactly to that output right next to the alt monitor. But it‘s working when i plug the monitors to the main out on the right. But then there is no chance to mono the signal or dim it. I put the output volume of my monitors on -15 and now everything is nicely balanced. But anyway it would be cool to make usage of the faders either when the monitors are plugged to the main monitor outs. I‘m wondering if this is only not working on my unit:(
And you’re monitoring stations do you have the right buttons pushed in
@@fabe86 I don’t know I haven’t heard that before to be quite honest with you I would probably check your monitor section to make Sure everything is being monitored right
@@TouchToneDSG i‘ve read the manual in detail and in all routing examples the speakers are plugged to the main monitor outs. But like i said if i do that it‘s exactly the same like when it‘s plugged to the alt outs. No fader function.
But plugging it to the main outs everything is working fine. Seems like it‘s an. Have to text the technical support from SSL.
Thanks anyway for help

Holy grail = S2400 or Drum machine of choice ->Zulu Tape -> WA Bus Comp = 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah bro that’s nasty that zulu thou 🔥🔥
I disagree! Why would the S2400 be needed if your choice of drum machines were of the new MPC series or a 4000, 3000 or 2000 xl? Much better saturation boxes than the Zulu (ex: Rupert Neve 542, SSL Fusion or Looptrotter Sa2urate 2). But the WA Bus comp has me intrigued though.
