Hey Ponchy, thanks for doing these videos! Just picked up a used Big Six and am learning my way around it (having never used a mixing board before) and your stuff is really helpful. If I’m understanding right, if all I want is to use a DAW reverb just for monitoring while tracking (no need to print), does that mean I don’t need to send the Logic channel back to the BS and the artist will still hear it in their headphones while tracking?
I rarely comment on YT. I've owned a mackie 32-8 and had no where near the confusion of now owning the SSL Big 6. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. A closer visual of the channel setups would be nicer to be able to see how you're configuring the input returns in Logic (I don't use Logic, never have and most likely won't). I'm more interested in sending the SSL channels to Mac DAW plugins. Thanks again. SSL keeps sending me to the schematics, I missed that day in college, not an electrical engineer.
They are signal flow diagrams, not schematics. If you can follow a line you can probably figure them out - it’s not rocket surgery. 🚀
Super! I just have one doubt... can I use ext.in1 as an efx return and send it to st.cue2 for a headphone preamp. In Six this excluded everything except ext. Thank you!

Question when you have your sends dialed up full on the mixer do you use the pedal to mix in the verb? I thought the pedal should be 100 percent wet then use the mixer to send level to blend in the verb.

Glad to help! Yeah you are definitely correct in most cases but in this case with the Space Echo pedal it’s possible to clip the signal in an undesirable way and it has a clipping (input) light on it so I just turn the pedal up just before the point of clipping.

Pero tengo una gran duda de como conectarla y no perder mi 5057 ORBIT SUMMING NEVE . ya que el tiene hasta 16 entradas . Si tu tuvieras ese NEVE como lo conectarías para aprovecharlo con la Big SIx . mi conexión por ahora es de la interfase UAD al 5057 Orbit y su salida al Fusion de ssl y del Fusion retorno a mi DAW . Disculpa las molestia
Friend, I saw your video on UA-cam where you have a Big Six SSL and it's really cool. I think in a few months I might buy one. But I have a big question about how to connect it and not lose my 5057 ORBIT SUMMING NEVE. since he has up to 16 entries. If you had that NEVE, how would you connect it to take advantage of it with the Big SIx. My connection for now is from the UAD interface to the 5057 Orbit and its output to the SSL Fusion and from the Fusion I return to my DAW. Sorry for the inconvenience
I don't mean this to be so much of a criticism, but more of an ask. I understand that Big Six is certainly a challenging piece of equipment, but what I'd really like to see is a flawless step by step. Not all this mistakenly pressing buttons and then explaining why these things happen. I'm sure you can see how confusing this can be. And after all, you are the only one who comes close to explaining B Six and I'd just like to see better. Is that okay? Anyway, this is something about UA-cam that can be annoying. It seems that whenever there are obvious mistakes made, then it's called a journey and we're all supposed to think that's okay. Myself, I think all the videos as described should be taken down and should be redone in a clear concise professional manner. But then, you wouldn't get paid, so I guess that comes into it. I might even become a member and maybe even pay for the honour. But I guess this is all just me. I've been told I sometimes expect too much.

Question - For your 'USB to cue 1', why wouldn't you press USB From 9-10 on channels 9-10. This would effectively return the effected signal on that channel.

Not for ease of use of the analog gear. In the future, an all analog SSL Big 8, or Big 10 would be better. Inserts, main bus inserts, 2-3 outs with multi monitoring choices would be good. I have an Apollo X8p, I don't need another puzzle. Happy with my A&H ZED 14 (no effects, and 499 Euros). Great video, thank you.
