    Speck rigs are a long time favorite of mine. They are effective on most saltwater bay fish day or night. Looks like you guys have a good spot with that causeway.

    Hey Josh.. Yeah the back have been hitting pretty good in the Sarasota area also.. I heard a couple of ughs from Chrissypoo, so figured he was having his normal aggravation. Lol. You know we all love your catch and cook videos.. I found if you let the fillets sit in milk a couple hours that also helps with the taste not being so fishy.. Loved the video and thanks so much with sharing with us.. I always look forward to your videos.. Always your friend, fan, and subscriber..

    • @Saltyscales

      Hey Rick, you are right about that. Milk or lemon juice pulls that fishy taste right out. I like to allow mine to soak for 24 hours when possible.

      @@Saltyscales I see this about Spanish all the time. Not sure what ya'll mean. I don't even soak my blues, just bleed 'em. That "fishy" taste doesn't really exist unless you eat the dark meat (bloodline) in my opinion. I caught a 20" Spaniard off the cocoa beach area, cleaned him, didn't even bleed him, best, pure white fillets I've scene besides Pompano. Ate it raw like sushi on the pier to be a badass... Was perfectly fine. Long story short, I think Kings give the Spaniards a bad rap for the quality of meat. You don't need to do anything besides season and cook for a spanny. Thanks for the video though!

    Hey josh, always love to watch your skyway videos ,informative and for us daily meat hunters that want to have fun and bring back fish for the table and learn what tackle to use , you say y'all got cut off a lot have you tried thin wire , I bought a spool of strong thin stainless steal wire that you use for making jewelry at Walmart , it's cheaper than the wire leader in the fishing tackle section and its strong and thin , gonna try it on my next run to the pier watch'n y'all flog the water always gets me motivated ! Tight lines and good times 🎣

    When do you guys typically fish? In the morning or afternoon? Is there a leading factor on the time of day you go to the pier such as tide over time of day? Coming from Citrus County, it seems by the time I get there, the current and wind pick up making fishing tough. Then I see videos like this where the water seems calm compared to what I see :)

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  4 роки тому

      We fish all day but the most productive times are sunrise and a couple hours before sunset. Pay attention to feed times, wind and pressure.

    Ok I have caught several Goliaths from a boat but wondering what the strategy is from the pier? In terms of de-hooking them. Since you can’t take them out of the water? Or are the Goliath at the skyway small enough typically to bring out of the water? I’ve been wanting to try that but have shy’d away because I don’t want to cut the line 20’ up if you catch one too big to haul up?

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  4 роки тому +2

      Use a circle hook and a DGX Titanium Tek Line Cutter with rope to cut. We never take them out of the water unless they are babies.

    • @Saltyscales
