    I recently purchased a Swiss Travel Pass (second class) and have a few questions about using it:
    1. For travel within major stations, like going from Lucerne to Kriens, do I need to purchase a separate ticket through the SBB app or at the station, or can I hop on the train with my Swiss Travel Pass?
    2. When booking through the SBB app, do I select “GA Travelcard, 2nd class” under the "Travelcards for Switzerland" section in the passenger info? Is that the correct option for the Swiss Travel Pass?
    3. For journeys where reservations are mandatory, like the Glacier Express, do I need to buy the ticket separately in advance? And if my reservation is in first class but my Swiss Travel Pass is for second class, can I upgrade to first class through the app or at the boarding station?
    I’d appreciate any insights or advice from those who have experience with this!
    Thanks!

      You dont need any tickets. Swiss pass is your ticket. But you do need a seat reservation on glacier or bernina express. No ticket though

    Day 1 - Zurich
    Day 2-3 - Lucerne
    Day 4 - 8 - Interlaken Region (incl. going to Jungfraujoch)
    Which would you say is ideal: STP, Half fare, Berner Oberland Pass, or a combination?
    I am eligible for youth in all passes. I will be doing a lot of train travel everyday

      It's hard to say exactly as it depends on exactly how many train rides and mountains you visit. The Swiss pass is the easiest option for travel, but not always the cheapest. I have some options on my website to help people decide - switzerlanding.com/swiss-train-pass-guide/ and switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/ if you are interested. Otherwise you have to get all the prices (train and mountasin) can calculate to figure out which is cheapest

    Day 1: Zurich (hotel) to Rhine Falls
    Rhine Falls to Stein
    Stein back to Zurich (hotel)
    Day 2: Zurich to Zermatt
    (planning to ride Cable car here to see Matterhorn)
    Day 3: Zermatt to Geneva
    Geneva to Austria.
    Which travel pass can you recommend? Half Fare Card or Swiss Travel Pass?
    Also, is Zurich to Zermatt and Zermatt to Geneva, free of charge with Swiss Travel Pass?

      he best pass for you depends on your wishes. Swiss Travel pass is more convenient if you have the money, half fare is more work (ticket purchases etc) but cheaper. I cannot give you specifically an answer

    Travelling to Geneva (mix work and leisure) last 2 weeks of August & will be my base all throughout. Planning to go out of Geneva 2 or 3 random days with 1 day for Interlakken/ Grindelwald and Lauterbraunnen (hope it's enough), other days maybe combine Zurich/Bern . Is it better to go for Day Saver Pass or Swiss Trave Pass (3 days)? Which can cover Glacier Express/Bernina or other scenic train at no extra cost? Thank you very much.

      @SwitzerLanding  Місяць тому +1

      You have to calculate yourself which is better - I cannot tell you just from your desciption. See what those train trips cost on sbb, add them up, compare to STP 3 day flex (if you want 3 days flexible travel during your time) and look at day savers (probably not much sense tbh but you can check - as it locks you into a specific date and might not be cheaper per day than STP

      You have to buy an 1st class upgrade ticket for that leg - from the machine, ticket office, website or sbb app.

      Depends how much travel and mountains you use it for. There is also the Jungfrau travel pass, or just using a half fare and paying for everything (but getting nice discounts). You have to do the calculation and see. or you can use my service to help switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/

    Hello. I will be flying into Geneva next month ultimately to hike the TMB with a group but arriving two days early to take a train to Zermatt to do some hiking and hopefully see the Matterhorn. I am planning to purchase the swiss travel pass and wondered to ride railroads and lifts for getting to the Hornli Hut for example how do I purchase the tickets. Do I use the SBB Mobile App for example. Also does the travel pass serve as my train ticket to get to Zermatt and will it be scanned on the train. I also hope to ride the train to Gornergrat and wondered about how the tickets to that and other areas nearby are purchased.

    • @SwitzerLanding
      @SwitzerLanding  2 місяці тому

      The Swiss Travel Pass (STP) might be a bit of overkill price-wise for just getting to Zermatt. Consider the Half fare. Then you need the mobile app to buy tickets (you should download it anyway to see the timetables). The STP is your ticket and you will need to show it and a passport on the trains. As for gornergrat, that leaves opposite Zermatt station and you can buy a ticket there or book it online (google it). You get a discount as a STP or half fare holder.

    • @SwitzerLanding
      @SwitzerLanding  4 місяці тому +3

      Unfortunately the answer is not that simple. Depends "exactly" how many trains you catch, from/to, how many days total ttravel, which mountains you go to etc. That is why I have a service for it. switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/?swcfpc=1 You can calculate it yourself, go to all the websites and get the prices. Plus there are 4 passes that are relevant to that exact trip you talk about. So it is nearly impossible for me to give you an answer just like that. Sorry. If you want to look at my service you can, its cheap for what I actually do, or you can watch my other video on "all" the train passes available. ua-cam.com/video/S1Kexqn-C2M/v-deo.html

      It is. That is the problem. Like choosing a car. In your case you also have to consider the eurail. Ut half fare is likely your best option. But you have to write down all the costs. One by one. It’s complicated. Thats why i have a service for it. No easy answers. Everyone is different. Every itinerary different

    This are the three cities that I will be at Zurich, Lucerne and Interlaken.
    I most likely will be going to Mt Pilatus, Jungfrau, probably 1 or 2 lake ride and musems
    On 5 Nov, I am going to travel from Interlaken to Italy, Milan.

      Yes, but purchasing a HFC for the first time online looks like a lot of extra work in terms of having to upload documents to verify myself. I think it will be easier to do this in person.
