Bravo Olivia. Everything - right to the point. For whatever reason - hardly any other blogger finds it important to inform tourists that in the Swiss Retail business, and that includes Gasoline stations - there are "lights out" on weekends.
I just came back from a short trip to Luzern, Grinderwald and Zurich. A couple of days is definitely too short to explore the beauty of this country! But my biggest mistake is not realising that my phone couldn’t roam. I had signal, but no data. I had no problem with this when I was in Italy and it was then I realised that Switzerland is not part of the EU. So a travel tip from me is to get an E-Sim (app) or a Swiss sim card in advance!
Just found your channel and I'm so happy! Your videos really helped as I'm going for a short trip on my own from Singapore to Lausanne in December! Thank you ❤
Regarding Interlaken it is not that much that it has value itself, I think its popularity is mainly because it is used as starting base to reach the real hotspots such as Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald First, Schilthorn or Lauterbrunnen which are all really great spots (very expensive though...)
You’re right! It is a good base for exploring the region. I’m not a huge fan of Interlaken but it does have some gems like the Harder Kulm and Niederhorn

Hi!! I would like to know if someone is coming for the first time to Switzerland from the USA. What kind of pass is supposed to purchase like a half card or a Swiss pass? Pls kindly answer my question.
It really depends on your budget. If you want a hassle free experience then swiss travel pass is the way to go. But HFC is more friendly on the pockets.
Great video. What do you think about renting a car instead of getting a travel pass? I know gas is expensive but by having a car I won't feel limited if it makes sense. What's your opinion on this?
It depends on everyone’s preferences. If you prefer to be more carefree and go anywhere on a whim without relying on train schedules then go for it! However, budget wise: I think a car would only be worth it if it’s for a large group of 4 and above.
@Olliechinny I appreciate you responding. Based on all the videos I have seen, including yours, I think I will get the pass. Now, my next worry is how to take the trains/public transportation without getting lost or missing stops. Do you have such a video on your channel?
Transport is free for children below 6. for children between 6-15, you can get the junior card for just 30CHF for unlimited travel. www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/railpasses/junior-travelcard.html
Thank you for explaining the electrical plug issue. Having those visual aids really helped me to understand. However, can you please speak more slowly? As a native English speaker, I had difficulty understanding your entire message.
As a Swiss I‘d recommend bringing a warm jacket, especially if you plan to visit mountains like Pilatus, Titlis etc. But July is a great month fo come here; enjoy!
the weather is already quite hot at the moment (25+°C), it might get even hotter in July as it‘s one of the summer months. but it‘s right that if you go higher up, you‘ll need a jacket, ideally a light one that protects against winds as long as the sun is shining, and to be safe a pullover for underneath, just in case. other than that, July is a great month to travel, can be quite busy because of the summer holidays tho.
The first mistake is to visit Switzerland if you do not have the proper budget. Beautiful mountains and landscapes are everywhere in Europe, especially in Italy, France, Austria, and Norway-but in Norway is expensive too.
Yes, since it is a tourist destination the shops will likely still remain open. I was in Grindelwald on Easter Sunday and the restaurants were all still bustling with people!
Hi olivia. Thankyou so much for the info btw! I plan to go to Switzerland for 6 days and the next 6 days to another European country nearby, do you think i should get Swiss Pass + Eurail Pass or Eurail Pass only is ok?
You can get the Eurail pass for ur train travels however buses, trams and visits to attractions and cablecar rides would not be covered under the pass. You can combine it with the half fare card to get 50% off your local transport, attractions and cable cars.
Eurail and Interrail passes in France and Italy make little sense. In Italy, the places available for holders of these passes are limited. Furthermore, they do not entitle you to the ultra-discounted Economy and Super Economy fares, therefore the "service change" is always calculated on the full price. For international trains at market price (for example the Eurocity from Milan Central Station to Zurich), the cost of the ticket for the foreign section not covered by the pass is half the total price of the journey, even if it is uncovered for 2 km! For example, to travel from Como to Zurich, even though I have Interrail SWITZERLAND, I will pay half even though I am only discovered for the 2 km that separate Como from Chiasso. As far as Switzerland is concerned, if you don't intend to travel 24 hours a day, perhaps the Half Price season ticket is preferable, possibly accompanied by day passes, generally also valid on postbuses, steamers, urban trams, etc., as well as on certain foreign transport companies such as, for example, the Italian SSIF (Camedo transit - Domodossola
So helpful! Trying to help my parents for their trip. They already got a Swiss Pass 1st class. 1. Do you have to book trains beforehand? 2. How do you book on Glacier express? thanks!!
Finally someone said the truth about Interlaken, there are so many other beautiful places that are way cheaper with less people and won't take a 3 hour train ride to get on top
U can get a bespoke itinerary from me at www.Buymeacoffee.com/olliechinny/extras! I’m not a guide but I will plan the itinerary perfectly for you to do it free and easy with confidence!
U are probably a larger group of 6-7 adults and hence the car rental cost was divided and cheaper. But it wouldn’t be the casefor say a couple, or a family of 4 with children where public transport is free. With that being said, there’s always pros and cons to car or train so it depends on your travel needs :)
Don’t flush the toilet after 10pm! It is illegal. Also, a bin does not mean u can throw trash it in, there r bins for specific types of trash only and officers will actually wait and open the bins to check n fine u!!!
Regarding the fine, even if they do send it back to your home country, you can still choose to ignore it can’t you? They can’t really enforce this outside their borders.
Im sure you can, but you will be blacklisted whenever you return to Schengen countries or Switzerland ie more trouble for you when you travel to Europe next time. Besides, and more importantly, it’s a matter of integrity, no?
In downtown Lugano (via Nassa) the pharmacist of the famous pharmacy sent to that country a copy of people who speak English with the excuse that she only speaks Italian: but what language do they teach future pharmacists? Zulu?
Small disagreements: 1. Interlaken is a good base for the region. Please don’t rubbish it. 2. One mistake not mentioned. Not to read advance weather forecast before going to scenic mountain regions. There is nothing to see at Zermatt, Jungfraujoch etc in bad weather and will be waste of money.

Using the train we had to pay 1200 CHF(week pass) instead with car, we paid 220 Euro for a week.
U are probably a larger group of 6-7 adults and hence the car rental cost was divided and cheaper. But it wouldn’t be the casefor say a couple, or a family of 4 with children where public transport is free. With that being said, there’s always pros and cons to car or train so it depends on your travel needs :)

Thank you!
@@Olliechinny No problem, and yes Interlaken is a tourist trap but it really is a great hub to get to the rest of Switzerland and its super beautiful.
Don’t flush the toilet after 10pm! It is illegal. Also, a bin does not mean u can throw trash it in, there r bins for specific types of trash only and officers will actually wait and open the bins to check n fine u!!!
As a Swiss I guarantee these are just myths - absolutely not true!
Spoke Italian there got by no problem
In downtown Lugano (via Nassa) the pharmacist of the famous pharmacy sent to that country a copy of people who speak English with the excuse that she only speaks Italian: but what language do they teach future pharmacists? Zulu?
👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💕
Small disagreements:
1. Interlaken is a good base for the region. Please don’t rubbish it.
2. One mistake not mentioned. Not to read advance weather forecast before going to scenic mountain regions. There is nothing to see at Zermatt, Jungfraujoch etc in bad weather and will be waste of money.
❤
Thank you!
Just to note: Swiss german is different from german
Bruh Interlaken has the best views during autumn
What about English????
No matter what you doing here.. but dont drive too fast.. u will regret it :P
EXACTLY… Uness you want a surprise gift waiting for you back home in the mail box 💸💸💸
Those Clickbaits are getting annoying, 我觉得不好。
How is this a click bait? I presented exactly what was presented in the title.
You can’t just spend 7 days in one place that’s just stupid at least be more realistic
