Hello! Just wanted to thank you guys for all the videos you posted about the travel passes and which trains to choose. While planning our trip to Switzerland, we knew we wanted to travel by train and we were so overwhelmed with all the different passes and had no idea where to start. We took notes during your videos and were able to find the 2 passes that made the most sense for our trip. The Swiss half fare and the Jungrau pass. Saved us so much money and it was so easy to navigate. We had a wonderful trip and loved traveling by train. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
One question, with half price card, did u purchase the rest tickets on spot for teams, busses or trains, or you booked these in advance. I am not sure if I buy half fare card and later when I arrive in Zurich and buy train tickets, won't the prices of trains and busses will be high? Also additional info- I will take not more than 3-4 trains and few team or bus ride (I guess cities will be mostly walking).
Thank you SO much for.the info about 1/2 price cards and Berner Oberland travel passes. We had a wonderful trip to Grindelwald and enjoyed the free gondola rides included in our pass plus all of the regional trains and buses. Jungfraujoch tickets were half price - it was just all so helpful!!!🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Thank you so very much for clarifying this Swiss Pass. I'll be in Switzerland next month exploring and I found the choice in trains quite stressful. But you both made it easier. Thank you for your smiles and easy explanation. I've binge watched all or most of your vids and i learned something new each time from you both. Thank you again
We are SO happy we found your channel. We are planning our second winter trip to Switzerland and your videos offer the clearest, most easily understood explanation of the Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare Card. We will be watching all of your videos-you guys are great!
I have no experience when it comes to trip planning so it's been difficult to get my head around so much information. This video has been really helpful!
It is very unfortunate that public transport becomes so pricey in Switzerland which defeat the purpose of using it randomly and put off many to travel to this beautiful country. A visitor cannot plan whether they decide not to travel on a particular day but instead spend time in a town area as some people do make on-the-spot decision but the flexi pass is more pricey and the swiss pass is determined by days(durations)...so it feels like visitors are "trapped" by this system introduced by SBB.
Actually, you totally don't get the situation, since the SBB has indeed "trapped" gullible tourists like yourself... the irony in all these videos on YT informing people how to travel Switzerland is they all have one big common mistake: Swiss Travel Pass is not the same as a GA or SwissPass, but effectively they're exactly, and I mean that with very few exceptions, the same... GA is however if you buy it valid for a whole month and is cheaper than even the 6 day Travel Pass. Also, even the travel pass isn't expensive by swiss standards, since you tourists won't blink an eye when it comes to splashing the cash for a 100.- return trip up the Gornergrat which no matter what pass you get, you'll get ripped off, when just 200m down the road is a completely free funicular up to the most sought after photo spot in the country and you all just blunder past it... I guess my dear colleagues at the SBB do have some sense in keeping wine-bag tourists away from the real swiss treasures, oops!
Thank you! Last year, based on your videos I made really a good plan to go around the Switzerland in a very short time. That was the best travel I ever had.
Greetings from sunny California. It's a good video. We (three adults: 61, 55, and 28 years old) are planning to visit Switzerland on May 2024 (a few weeks from now!), and we'll consult you!
I went to Switzerland to stay there with my mom for 10 days last September and visited so many places. Your videos helped us at every corner of the trip and this one about the swiss travel pass was the best guide! I knew exactly what I would need and what I would rather avoid. Thank you two for the amazing work!
Thank you very much! It's really helpful for my family to travel in 2 months' time though it's not my first time to Switzerland. I agree the best pass to get will be Swiss pass compare to other options.
I recently purchased a Swiss Travel Pass (second class) and have a few questions about using it: 1. For travel within major stations, like going from Lucerne to Kriens, do I need to purchase a separate ticket through the SBB app or at the station, or can I hop on the train with my Swiss Travel Pass? 2. When booking through the SBB app, do I select “GA Travelcard, 2nd class” under the "Travelcards for Switzerland" section in the passenger info? Is that the correct option for the Swiss Travel Pass? 3. For journeys where reservations are mandatory, like the Glacier Express, do I need to buy the ticket separately in advance? And if my reservation is in first class but my Swiss Travel Pass is for second class, can I upgrade to first class through the app or at the boarding station? I’d appreciate any insights or advice from those who have experience with this! Thanks!
Thank you for making it more clear! Ive decided to go with the half fare card bc i can save a little and bc i dont have a lot of big travel days that will ease my journey by having the swiss travel pass by not having to purchase tickets. The rest are all cable cars which 50% is already given with the half fare card..
I'm fairly certain you can visit Domodossola in Italy from Brig with the Swiss Travel Pass. (I think it has to be the train from Brig specifically) Also, Bernina lets out at Tirano and is covered but you may need to buy a return ticket? Please don't take my word for it, but I remember those things being true lol. Also, the buses in Liechtenstein are covered with the Swiss pass. You can take a bus into Vaduz from Chur, and any bus within Liechtenstein.
Hi guys! Thanks for sharing such valuable information about Switzerland. Always so helpful! I do have some questions about traveling with someone with a mobility disability. In your experience, do you think someone with less mobility (cane, assistance to step up and down, and easier trails) is possible and most importantly, enjoyable in the Lauterbrunnen Valley? Our plan is to stay in Wengen as a base and do day trips. The time is April 2023. What should my relative be prepared for? Any suggestion and information will be so appreciated! Thanks again for your informative videos
Hi Alexis and Louis! Hello from Singapore and thank you for this really clear and informative video! My husband and I are planning for our very first trip to Switzerland (also our long awaited honeymoon since covid restrictions have finally lifted) and your video really helped to relay some of the anxiety we have planning as its our first time to Europe. However we are only able to go in Nov and not earlier, and I've read across different blogs and articles that the low season is abit tricky to plan as some attractions and rides are closed :( we didn't really know this beforehand but will now have to plan our trip anyways. Do you guys have any suggestions on where we can visit during 2nd - 3rd week of Nov? We have gotten the swiss travel pass - top of our list is to see the alps, take a scenic train, boat ide across a lake and visit a cosy town.. would love to hear from you!
Really love your Videos. Won't you please try do a video on the Zurich Card or city card.... we will be in Zurich for 5 days from 11 June. Greetings from Sunny Cape Town South Africa
Great and helpful video. I do have a question. I have a Swiss Travel Pass. When I have looked at train schedules and ticket prices I see a lot of trains that I plan to use saying that there is LIMITED AVAILABILTY. Yet, if I don't need to get a ticket with the Swiss Travel Pass, how does the train operator know the demand? Will there be a seat for me when I show up?
@@melt7945 they actually did a video recently that went more into detail on the Regional pass. I personally will be buying it for my October trip. The Jungfrau isn't included, but it is discounted.
Can you do a video navigating the SBB app? Everything I read says to try and prebook tickets if you’re getting the half fare card but I also can’t figure out how to price out transportation between destinations in general.
Hi there! We love getting all the info from you guys! We are planning to go the first week or march and wanted to get the bernese oberland regional pass but we just discovered that its validity is from April1 to oct 31 only. So is everything closed in march? Or would we not be able to use it in march when we travel?
Berner Oberland is a summer only pass! If you’re traveling in March, I recommend checking out our winter train passes guide which will cover all of your options for travel at that time of year!
Dear Alexis and Louis, we just came across your video and found.it.very useful. Hi guys!! Love ur stuff. Why am I having a problem booking a Golden Pass VIP seat from Montreaux to Zwei? Today is 6/4 and I want to travel on 8/4. All trips during the week are blocked, Only available on the weekends. When I try to book on the weekends (even in early June) it says I have to go 10 days out. So confused!
Hi, I will be visiting Switzerland froom 1st to 11th Dec 2022. I will mainly cover trips to Zermatt, Interlaken , Zurich, Lucern. On top of that , I'm also visiting Jungfrau and some other mountains in the top of europe. Is it worth to get the Swiss travel pass or half fare card in this case?
I just learned that the STP cannot be added to the SBB app. So how would I do an upgrade if I have the 2nd class pass but want to do the 1st class Glacier Express? I already reserved my 1st class seats on the G.E. Thanks for your help!
Hello guys! So glad found your video. Is it worth staying in zurich for the whole trip and just take trains to visit grindelwald, istelwald, lauterbrunnen? Or do you recommend staying near these places?
Very helpful. Love your videos! Do you have advice about taking bicyles on Swiss trains? I will be cycle touring in France/Germany prior to my arrival and may take a train from Colmar to Bern and perhaps a few train journeys within Switzerland as well with my bicycle. Thank you!
From my observation you can take bicycles on trains FAPP everywhere (in some cases you pay an extra fee for the bike, like on some mountain cable trams) but Alexis and Louis will know for sure :-)
Would you say the pass is worth it for a solo traveler who’s taking 1 round trip train from laurerbrunnen to zermatt to spend most of the time using the cable cars, funiculars, and gondolas?
I reserved a first class seat on the Glacier express but I plan on buying a 2nd class swiss travel pass. (6 day) My understanding is I can upgrade to 1st class for this train as well? Can this be done on the app and or train station before departing? Thanks for all the great info!
thank you for the details, I am looking to buy 5-day pass but the website only allowing 4 days or 6 days. Is the 5th day free, if not should I buy a separate a single day pass?
Thank you for this video- it make sense now why Swiss Travel Pass is better choice for us - we don’t need to validate it when u use it just like the FLEX but do I need to use/consume the Swiss travel pass for 3consecutive days - with in 3days (if we choose the 3days)? Is 3days means in Swiss travel pass is 👉🏾1st day I can use it In Bernina Express? The following day 2nd day I will use in Jungfrau? And the 3rd day which is the next day I will use it book the Lucerne? Is this how it works for 3days Swiss Travel Pass?
Hi thanks for all the tips! I plan to travel with my chihuahua. I read that all trains and public transit are pet friendly. Can you comment on any tips for moving around with my tiny dog? thanks
Once I buy a Swiss pass online before arrival into Switzerland ,, do I choose the dates I want it to be active ? How to do that ? And it’s valid from what time in the morning till evening or is there any cut off time ? No validation required before boarding ?
I will be going to Switzerland for 4 days in interlaken and Jungfrau I last week in September of this year Question ; Do I needed to purchase a Swiss train pas and if so which one
Hello, thanks so much for this video. We've got already purchased the Swiss Travel Pass but how do we use it? I wanted to purchase a ticket on the SBB but I don't see where to include the number so that they don't charge for it. Or with the QR code I just get to the train station? Thanks a lot!
Hi. I am going to Swiss from 31 Oct to 5 Nov. This are the three cities that I will be visiting which are Zurich 1N, Lucerne 2N and Interlaken 2N. I most likely will be going to Mt Pilatus, Jungfrau, probably 1 or 2 lake ride and 1 or 2 museums. On 5 Nov, I am going to travel from Interlaken to Italy, Milan. Base on above, which is better Travel Pass or Half Fare pass?
Hello! My question is if I already have the swiss travel pass, do I still have to book my trip or do I just go and ride the train to where I want to go(destination)? Thanks
Hi may i know if we can buy the stp upon arriving in Zurich? Or is it advisable to buy before travelling to Switzerland? We are traveling with kid and youth, upon checking this pass is a good deal for my family.
Hello, I have Swiss travel pass 2nd class with 2 children having Swiss family card as they are below 16 and travelling with both their parents. How do we go ahead to reserve glacier express for children ? Adults with Swiss pass getting it at 49CHF . What option do we chose for children with Swiss family card while booking ? When we select child 6-15.9yr as option it cost 185CHF per child - why ?
I'm still confused on how I get my travel pass on my phone. I received and email with a link to activate but I'm not ready to travel yet. Can I activate it without losing a travel day and see what it prompts me for next? is there a download or an App? Also I have the flex so if I need to activate every day I travel I don't understand how I do that if I don't necessarily have to make a reservation. How do I find out what the 500 museums are? I thought after I purchased there would be a link or a pdf listing. Also what about a train schedule? I need to plan ahead my point to point travel. I have no idea if any of my itineraries would be on the Glacier express or any of the panoramic trains. How do I find that out? Thank you.
Hi Lex & Louis, thanks so much for doing this very informative video. My sister & I will be traveling to Switzerland in April. I would like to seek your advice if it’s ok to buy our Swiss Travel Pass when we arrive at Zurich airport? In addition, we would like to go on the Glacier Express the next day. Will it be too late to reserve our seats then? I know we will have to pay for the seat reservation on the Glacier Express, but is there a seat reservation fee for the Bernina Express? Thanks very much.
I would highly recommend buying the pass and reserving your seats in advance. You will need to reserve on glacier and Bernina express lines and the reservations book out months in advance
Hi Thank you for you nice video. I was wondering if we can use the Saver Day Pass for glacier express. If so how to book glacier express in advance!p please suggest

Do you recommended the Swiss travel pass for all of these cities? Please help. Thank you so much! You guys are the best!!
Hello this video is very helpful. Does the swiss travel pass cover gruyere cheese factory nd maison cailler chocolate factory? How does one know ? Please please reply
Is there any way to figure out which train number or what the train even looks like that you need to pick up when you’re using the Bernese Oberland pass? I understand many trains are free but how do you know which are free and which you have to pay for? The area of validity doesn’t help much it just shows where the trains go but not how to get on a train covered by the pass. Can you help?

@@JanPBtest Yeah you need to pay extra fee
Is there half fare travel card for tourist?

Does it really makes sense if we travel by car?
In November, Glacier Express not operating... what are options?
Thank you for this video- it make sense now why Swiss Travel Pass is better choice for us - we don’t need to validate it when u use it just like the FLEX but do I need to use/consume the Swiss travel pass for 3consecutive days - with in 3days (if we choose the 3days)? Is 3days means in Swiss travel pass is 👉🏾1st day I can use it In Bernina Express? The following day 2nd day I will use in Jungfrau? And the 3rd day which is the next day I will use it book the Lucerne? Is this how it works for 3days Swiss Travel Pass?
When you say Swiss travel pass does it also refer to Saver pass as well right?
Hi thanks for all the tips! I plan to travel with my chihuahua. I read that all trains and public transit are pet friendly. Can you comment on any tips for moving around with my tiny dog? thanks

Thanks

Thanks for your recommendation. Is April low season? If so, when does the the high season start?
@@TheTravelingSwiss Thanks very much for the advice.
The glacier express is not in service. until after December. Thats really sucks!!!
Hi Thank you for you nice video. I was wondering if we can use the Saver Day Pass for glacier express. If so how to book glacier express in advance!p please suggest
Does Half fare cover discounts when booking top of europe pass?
Can I use the swiss Travel Pass to travel by Train from Paris to Zermatt?
Hi my family and I are visiting Europe and Switzerland is one of them..from Chamonix Mont- Blanc we are travelling to stelchberg I am thinking to buy a 3 day swiss pass use it from the boundary of France and Switzerland and boundary of Switzerland and Italy since we have a global pass. Hi there, I'm planning to visit Switzerland this summer in August, but still not sure what train passes I get. I’ll be in Zurich first, but then move from town to town. My itinerary will be Zurich to Lucerne, Lucerne to Grindelwald, Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen, Lauterbrunnen to Bern, Bern to Basel, then head back to Zurich. Do you recommended the Swiss travel pass for all of these cities? Please help. Thank you so much! You guys are the best!!

Do you know how to make a seat reservation for the panoramic trains without buying a ticket?
Hello!
Can I buy the Swiss travel pass once I arrive at the Interlaken ost train station. And would the fare differ in any manner ?
Hi Alex and Louis, if i take half fare card how do i book for bernina express? i can only see those that you need to pay in full
