Thank you! Last year, based on your videos I made really a good plan to go around the Switzerland in a very short time. That was the best travel I ever had.
We are SO happy we found your channel. We are planning our second winter trip to Switzerland and your videos offer the clearest, most easily understood explanation of the Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare Card. We will be watching all of your videos-you guys are great!
Thank you guys so much!! You have made planning our trip so much fun and so much easier
Thank you so very much for clarifying this Swiss Pass. I'll be in Switzerland next month exploring and I found the choice in trains quite stressful. But you both made it easier. Thank you for your smiles and easy explanation. I've binge watched all or most of your vids and i learned something new each time from you both. Thank you again
I have no experience when it comes to trip planning so it's been difficult to get my head around so much information. This video has been really helpful!
Hello!
Just wanted to thank you guys for all the videos you posted about the travel passes and which trains to choose. While planning our trip to Switzerland, we knew we wanted to travel by train and we were so overwhelmed with all the different passes and had no idea where to start. We took notes during your videos and were able to find the 2 passes that made the most sense for our trip. The Swiss half fare and the Jungrau pass. Saved us so much money and it was so easy to navigate. We had a wonderful trip and loved traveling by train.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
So glad to hear it!
A ton of helpful tips and information, narrated part is great as always.👌👌
I went to Switzerland to stay there with my mom for 10 days last September and visited so many places. Your videos helped us at every corner of the trip and this one about the swiss travel pass was the best guide! I knew exactly what I would need and what I would rather avoid. Thank you two for the amazing work!
Hey. I'm going this next September. Which pass did you use on your trip?
This was great! I am looking forward to the Jungfrau Pass explanation for sure!
Yeah that's most sold pass in Switzerland
Thank you for this info!! I was so confused and overwhelmed.
❤ Absolutely love these videos and how informative they are! Thank You🇨🇭
Thank you so much for this! We're traveling for 6 days this summer, and this is so helpful.
Thank you for this video! Keep it up! Going next week!
Thank you for making it more clear! Ive decided to go with the half fare card bc i can save a little and bc i dont have a lot of big travel days that will ease my journey by having the swiss travel pass by not having to purchase tickets. The rest are all cable cars which 50% is already given with the half fare card..
Waited a while for this one! We are visiting in June and this is very helpful
Why June? It will be packed with tourists and the hotel prices will rise up.
Thank you so much for explaining the Swiss Travel pass, so helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you SO much for.the info about 1/2 price cards and Berner Oberland travel passes. We had a wonderful trip to Grindelwald and enjoyed the free gondola rides included in our pass plus all of the regional trains and buses. Jungfraujoch tickets were half price - it was just all so helpful!!!🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
This video is very helpful, thank you for all the tips!
Excellent video, you two are so lovely together. Thank you for these videos.
super duper helpful! can't wait to finally visit Switzerland this summer :))
It's much cheaper to go in the winter
Thank YOU! Just bought the pass🙏visiting switzerland again on tuesday
I buy Eurail or Interrail pass is much cheaper than the Swiss Train pass!
Greetings from sunny California. It's a good video. We (three adults: 61, 55, and 28 years old) are planning to visit Switzerland on May 2024 (a few weeks from now!), and we'll consult you!
Hi guys!
Thanks for sharing such valuable information about Switzerland. Always so helpful!
I do have some questions about traveling with someone with a mobility disability. In your experience, do you think someone with less mobility (cane, assistance to step up and down, and easier trails) is possible and most importantly, enjoyable in the Lauterbrunnen Valley? Our plan is to stay in Wengen as a base and do day trips. The time is April 2023. What should my relative be prepared for? Any suggestion and information will be so appreciated!
Thanks again for your informative videos
It is very unfortunate that public transport becomes so pricey in Switzerland which defeat the purpose of using it randomly and put off many to travel to this beautiful country. A visitor cannot plan whether they decide not to travel on a particular day but instead spend time in a town area as some people do make on-the-spot decision but the flexi pass is more pricey and the swiss pass is determined by days(durations)...so it feels like visitors are "trapped" by this system introduced by SBB.
Actually, you totally don't get the situation, since the SBB has indeed "trapped" gullible tourists like yourself... the irony in all these videos on YT informing people how to travel Switzerland is they all have one big common mistake: Swiss Travel Pass is not the same as a GA or SwissPass, but effectively they're exactly, and I mean that with very few exceptions, the same... GA is however if you buy it valid for a whole month and is cheaper than even the 6 day Travel Pass. Also, even the travel pass isn't expensive by swiss standards, since you tourists won't blink an eye when it comes to splashing the cash for a 100.- return trip up the Gornergrat which no matter what pass you get, you'll get ripped off, when just 200m down the road is a completely free funicular up to the most sought after photo spot in the country and you all just blunder past it... I guess my dear colleagues at the SBB do have some sense in keeping wine-bag tourists away from the real swiss treasures, oops!
Very informative ! 👍
Thank you very much! It's really helpful for my family to travel in 2 months' time though it's not my first time to Switzerland. I agree the best pass to get will be Swiss pass compare to other options.
Thx for the vid. I also found the online Swiss pass validity map to be helpful.
Very useful information about the Swiss travel pass thanks so much
That is a super informative video and accurate. Danke ☺️
Bitte!
Helpful video.Thanks.
This Helped. Thank you!
Booked my tickets to Switzerland and flying in 7 months. Cannot wait 😁
Smart choice. Avoid tourists in the summer
Really helpful. Thanks.
Unfortunately I found your channel while searching in google .
It cleared many of my doubts .
Thanks
Thank you so much for the kind comment
Thank you for such detailed info. I would like to ask if the Eurail Pass works with Switerzland public buses, trains and trams services?
Thank you, very good video 👍💯💕
LOVE U GUYS ! I'M COMING WITH DAMIKY THIS JULY
Hi Alexis and Louis! Hello from Singapore and thank you for this really clear and informative video! My husband and I are planning for our very first trip to Switzerland (also our long awaited honeymoon since covid restrictions have finally lifted) and your video really helped to relay some of the anxiety we have planning as its our first time to Europe. However we are only able to go in Nov and not earlier, and I've read across different blogs and articles that the low season is abit tricky to plan as some attractions and rides are closed :( we didn't really know this beforehand but will now have to plan our trip anyways. Do you guys have any suggestions on where we can visit during 2nd - 3rd week of Nov? We have gotten the swiss travel pass - top of our list is to see the alps, take a scenic train, boat ide across a lake and visit a cosy town.. would love to hear from you!
Get the half fare card before buying any pass. If you go to the Interlaken area, you want to get the Oberland Pass.
I'm fairly certain you can visit Domodossola in Italy from Brig with the Swiss Travel Pass. (I think it has to be the train from Brig specifically) Also, Bernina lets out at Tirano and is covered but you may need to buy a return ticket? Please don't take my word for it, but I remember those things being true lol. Also, the buses in Liechtenstein are covered with the Swiss pass. You can take a bus into Vaduz from Chur, and any bus within Liechtenstein.
Really love your Videos. Won't you please try do a video on the Zurich Card or city card.... we will be in Zurich for 5 days from 11 June. Greetings from Sunny Cape Town South Africa
I just learned that the STP cannot be added to the SBB app. So how would I do an upgrade if I have the 2nd class pass but want to do the 1st class Glacier Express? I already reserved my 1st class seats on the G.E. Thanks for your help!
Hi guys!! Love ur stuff.
Why am I having a problem booking a Golden Pass VIP seat from Montreaux to Zwei? Today is 6/4 and I want to travel on 8/4. All trips during the week are blocked, Only available on the weekends. When I try to book on the weekends (even in early June) it says I have to go 10 days out. So confused!
Hello guys! So glad found your video. Is it worth staying in zurich for the whole trip and just take trains to visit grindelwald, istelwald, lauterbrunnen? Or do you recommend staying near these places?
Dear Alexis and Louis, we just came across your video and found.it.very useful. We.are planning to visit.Swizertland in early July, want your advice on which transportation cards that can be most.cost.efficient as our trip.is around.3.weeks and solely rely on public transportation. our planned itinerary is below.
Day 1: airport to st moritz
Day 3: Glacier express to Zermatt
(Need a pass to go up maintains within this region ?)
Day 7: zermatt to Grindelwald ,
(Need a pass like Top of.Europe or others?)
Day 12: Grindelwald to Luzern
Day 17: Luzern to St.Gallen
Day 22: St Gallen to Salzberg
For cities we stay longer than one day, we plan to take day trips to areas nearby, so we will take either train, bus or boat, ets.
As our trip is around 3 weeks in Switzerland, we want to find ways to make it more cost efficient, especially transportation. Appreciate your advice on it. Thanks a lot.
Very helpful. Love your videos! Do you have advice about taking bicyles on Swiss trains? I will be cycle touring in France/Germany prior to my arrival and may take a train from Colmar to Bern and perhaps a few train journeys within Switzerland as well with my bicycle. Thank you!
From my observation you can take bicycles on trains FAPP everywhere (in some cases you pay an extra fee for the bike, like on some mountain cable trams) but Alexis and Louis will know for sure :-)
@@JanPBtest Yeah you need to pay extra fee
Is there any way to figure out which train number or what the train even looks like that you need to pick up when you’re using the Bernese Oberland pass? I understand many trains are free but how do you know which are free and which you have to pay for? The area of validity doesn’t help much it just shows where the trains go but not how to get on a train covered by the pass. Can you help?
Hello excellent information. I have planned to travel to Switzerland for 6 days. The last day I will be in Lucern and my next destination will be Italy, so I want to know if the Swiss Travel Pass allows me to travel from Lucern to Milan Termini? or in any case until which station could make use of the pass. or any route that you recommend to get to Milan? I had planned to take the Lucern-Lugano route... Please, I will appreciate your answer. Thanks
Hi thanks for all the tips! I plan to travel with my chihuahua. I read that all trains and public transit are pet friendly. Can you comment on any tips for moving around with my tiny dog? thanks
Hi there! We love getting all the info from you guys! We are planning to go the first week or march and wanted to get the bernese oberland regional pass but we just discovered that its validity is from April1 to oct 31 only. So is everything closed in march? Or would we not be able to use it in march when we travel?
Berner Oberland is a summer only pass! If you’re traveling in March, I recommend checking out our winter train passes guide which will cover all of your options for travel at that time of year!
Louie or Alexis: I appreciate your show about the Glacier Express scenery from Zermatt to Chur, but someone said the 8 hour tour is somehow a bit too long, and I am asking your comments if I only take it from Zermatt to Andermatt, and transit to Lucerne, in this case, will I miss too much from Andermatt to Chur?
Would you say the pass is worth it for a solo traveler who’s taking 1 round trip train from laurerbrunnen to zermatt to spend most of the time using the cable cars, funiculars, and gondolas?
Thank you so much for all your videos! I’m still confused if i should buy the half off travel pass or the tell pass. We going to Lucerne from Paris and planning to explore Mt pilatus and Mt Titlis and leaving Switzerland from Zurich . Help please! Recommendations welcome. Thank you 🙏🏽
Hi I m visiting Switzerland from May 2. I have booked Swiss pass for 8 day. I have a printed paper. What will I require to do to avail the facility once I land Zurich?
Hi. I’ll be talking a train from Geneva to Les Diablerets (& back)
Activities include Peak walk, skiing & paragliding. So should I buy half fare pass or Swiss travel pass.
Family of 5; kids’ age 16, 22 &24.
Hi, I will be visiting Switzerland froom 1st to 11th Dec 2022. I will mainly cover trips to Zermatt, Interlaken , Zurich, Lucern. On top of that , I'm also visiting Jungfrau and some other mountains in the top of europe. Is it worth to get the Swiss travel pass or half fare card in this case?
Hi there, I'm planning to visit Switzerland this summer in August, but still not sure what train passes I get. I’ll be in Zurich first, but then move from town to town. My itinerary will be Zurich to Lucerne, Lucerne to Grindelwald, Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen, Lauterbrunnen to Bern, Bern to Basel, then head back to Zurich. Do you recommended the Swiss travel pass for all of these cities? Please help. Thank you so much! You guys are the best!!
Thank you for this video- it make sense now why Swiss Travel Pass is better choice for us - we don’t need to validate it when u use it just like the FLEX but do I need to use/consume the Swiss travel pass for 3consecutive days - with in 3days (if we choose the 3days)? Is 3days means in Swiss travel pass is 👉🏾1st day I can use it In Bernina Express? The following day 2nd day I will use in Jungfrau? And the 3rd day which is the next day I will use it book the Lucerne? Is this how it works for 3days Swiss Travel Pass?
Hi Alex and Louis, if i take half fare card how do i book for bernina express? i can only see those that you need to pay in full
Thank you for talking!!!
Do you know how to make a seat reservation for the panoramic trains without buying a ticket?
thank you so much !!
Hi my family and I are visiting Europe and Switzerland is one of them..from Chamonix Mont- Blanc we are travelling to stelchberg I am thinking to buy a 3 day swiss pass use it from the boundary of France and Switzerland and boundary of Switzerland and Italy since we have a global pass. My question is can I buy the swiss pass in Chamonix and is it ready to use once we reach the Switzerland side? Also how do I get to foroglio is closer from lucern or is closer from stelchberg? What is our best option? Thank you
Hi thanks for your helful video, I have a question, can I buy 10days swisspass ? I saw they only have 8, 15 day option. I want to plan travel in 10day. :) thanks
When you say Swiss travel pass does it also refer to Saver pass as well right?
hi! I tried to order the 3 days pass for next week, but it said: "Unfortunately, the selected offer is not available. Please choose another product or contact Support". I tried to move the date to September, but the result is still the same.
have you experienced this kind of thing before?
Hi Thank you for you nice video. I was wondering if we can use the Saver Day Pass for glacier express. If so how to book glacier express in advance!p please suggest
Thank you for the informative videos. Its very helpful!!! I've a question, hope you can help me decide. Have a trip next month going to 4 countries in 19 days so i purchased eurail global pass. Wanted to ask your opinion if I still need to buy a swiss travel card since Ill be staying in Switzerland for 8 days (5 of which is in Jungfrau region- heading to Top of World and Schilthorn). Aint sure if my global bass will cover my inter city transport (bus/trams) in Switzerland. If you advice to buy, would it be the swiss travel card or half swiss travel pass. Thank you....
as far as I know it won't cover inter city transport, just the trains. Additionally, the eurail pass will not work on Jungfrau, Schilthorn, etc. or the gondolas
I reserved a first class seat on the Glacier express but I plan on buying a 2nd class swiss travel pass. (6 day) My understanding is I can upgrade to 1st class for this train as well? Can this be done on the app and or train station before departing? Thanks for all the great info!
Hi may i know if we can buy the stp upon arriving in Zurich? Or is it advisable to buy before travelling to Switzerland? We are traveling with kid and youth, upon checking this pass is a good deal for my family.
if i will stay in the area of the regional pass for 3 days but also will go elsewhere maybe for 4 other days or so should i just get the half price card?
Which pass is better for 3 day travel?
Swiss travel pass or half price travel card ?
Hello, thanks so much for this video. We've got already purchased the Swiss Travel Pass but how do we use it? I wanted to purchase a ticket on the SBB but I don't see where to include the number so that they don't charge for it. Or with the QR code I just get to the train station? Thanks a lot!
I am planning to come with my 3 other family members in June . Swiss Travel pass or Swiss half card ? Which will be better ?
Switzerland id Beautiful place n country 👍👍👍
Hey, we are planning to goto Switzerland in may end 23... I saw somewhere that golden pass express train, the panoramic train from interlaken ost to montreux doesn't require seat reservation. Only swiss travel pass is sufficient. Kindly guide me if i am right or not?
thank you for the details, I am looking to buy 5-day pass but the website only allowing 4 days or 6 days. Is the 5th day free, if not should I buy a separate a single day pass?
Hi, does the Swiss travel pass include the Trainline (from chur to Tirano)
Hello!
Can I buy the Swiss travel pass once I arrive at the Interlaken ost train station. And would the fare differ in any manner ?
Would love to here more on the Regional Pass Berner Oberland.
I second that! It seems to cover most of what Top of Europe covers excluding free ride to Jungfraujoch? Or am I completely wrong 😅
@@melt7945 they actually did a video recently that went more into detail on the Regional pass. I personally will be buying it for my October trip. The Jungfrau isn't included, but it is discounted.
Hello,
What is diffent between half fair card and swiss travel pass???
Hello there, thank you for the great video. Super helpful!
We are a family of 3 adults and after comparison, we figured that Swiss Travel Pass will be the best option for our itinerary. But I have two practical questions that I hope you can help me with.
Question 1: Do I have to install the SBB app to upload/show the ticket?
Question 2: Can we load all 3 tickets on one mobile phone? Or do we have to use 3 phones for 3 individual tickets?
Thank you in advance!
Question 1: You can add your ticket to the app or you can print it. Best way is to do both. For example if your phone battery die, then you will still have the paper version to show.
Question 2: Yeah, this is possible, but not recomended. Best is that every head has his own ticket on mobile or print with him.
Any Swiss out there know what time the last train is to go from the airport to Zurich mai station? And what time is the first train from the station to the airport?
Hello this video is very helpful. Does the swiss travel pass cover gruyere cheese factory nd maison cailler chocolate factory? How does one know ? Please please reply
Hi Lex & Louis, thanks so much for doing this very informative video. My sister & I will be traveling to Switzerland in April. I would like to seek your advice if it’s ok to buy our Swiss Travel Pass when we arrive at Zurich airport? In addition, we would like to go on the Glacier Express the next day. Will it be too late to reserve our seats then? I know we will have to pay for the seat reservation on the Glacier Express, but is there a seat reservation fee for the Bernina Express? Thanks very much.
I would highly recommend buying the pass and reserving your seats in advance. You will need to reserve on glacier and Bernina express lines and the reservations book out months in advance
Thanks for your recommendation. Is April low season? If so, when does the the high season start?
@@TheTravelingSwiss Thanks very much for the advice.
If two adults and 3 kids planned a 6 nights trip to Switzerland. which pass is more economical swiss travel pass or regional barnese oberland pass . Family is interested in activities and mountains top excursions near lucerne e.g Rigi and near interlaken e.g grindelwald first.
Or swiss half fare card with barnese oberland pass ?
Hi, do this pass can be used to travel by train to and from Interlaken and Grindewald / Lauterbrunenn?. Thks
Is Swiss travel pass cover all mountains train and everywhere in Switzerland or we have to pay for moutain trains
I will be going to Switzerland for 4 days in interlaken and Jungfrau I last week in September of this year
Question ; Do I needed to purchase a Swiss train pas and if so which one
In November, Glacier Express not operating... what are options?
Does Half fare cover discounts when booking top of europe pass?
Hi. I am going to Swiss from 31 Oct to 5 Nov.
This are the three cities that I will be visiting which are Zurich 1N, Lucerne 2N and Interlaken 2N.
I most likely will be going to Mt Pilatus, Jungfrau, probably 1 or 2 lake ride and 1 or 2 museums.
On 5 Nov, I am going to travel from Interlaken to Italy, Milan.
Base on above, which is better Travel Pass or Half Fare pass?
Hii I have buyed online swiss travel pass for 6 days do I need to do anything else to use the trains ,buses . Do we need to activate pass , or buy ticket . If the officer of train r bus comes n ask to show ticket , then do we only need to show our pass ? Do we need to take print out of pass?
Hey,
Can we use the Swiss pass to travel from Zermatt to Milan?
7:22 Can I use the Swiss Travel Pass to visit Salzburg? Or is this a separate ticket?
Thank
How do you reserve for panoramic trains?
Hi there, I am travelling with my family this Dec 2022 to Switzerland and we have purchased a 15-Day Swiss Travel Pass (2nd Class) for us. I plan to take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St.Moritz on the 15Dec and I know that I have to reserve the seats on glacierexpress's webpage. However, there are only 1st Class seats left for seats reservation.
Question: How am I able to pre-book a 1st Class upgrade for this particular ride only, so that I can reserve the 1st class seats for my family? Do I reserve the seats (1st class) on glacier express first - > followed by purchasing the point-to-point upgrade on the SBB webpage, or vice-versa?
Seeking for some advice on my current situation! Thank you in advance :D
Hi, Shaun! I would love to know what you ended up doing? My husband and I will be going in May '23, and will be travelling the G.E. from St. Moritz to Zermatt. We'll also be getting the 2nd class STP.
Thank you for such an informative video. I've a question about cancellation. Can you cancel the Swiss travel pass for a full refund if your plan changes?
