    Hi Hunter, what do you think of 09 vs 10 gague strings? Tone? Feel? Hybrid??

    • @xXEmbracetheMetalXx
      @xXEmbracetheMetalXx 6 років тому

      Axel Ytreberg Obviously, Im not Hunter, but I would suggest sticking with 10 or even 11 guage string if youre playing metal.
      10 would do great, but 9 just feels too thin to me. In my experience, you also get a bit of a heavier sound when playing through thicker strings, generally.
      Now, if 9 is comfy for you then go with that, but my advice is to go with the 10s.
      I have no experience with hybrid strings, sorry. Cant help you out with that one.

    • @TheAir97
      @TheAir97 6 років тому +1

      Check out 10-52. You get the slinkiness of the top 3 strings, and sturdiness and beefiness of the low strings. Amazing for downtuning, and they feel solid for stuff like e standard and eb. Sorry about typing out a novel, good luck with finding your desired string gauge!

    Great riffage and awesome review as always (you just keep getting better and better!) My only question is, resale value? I love the Vola guitars and they appear to be absolutely stellar quality. But, and this is a big but, in 5 years if you need to sell the guitar will you get your money back out of this like you would a PRS or [fill in the blank with other more well-known high end guitars]? I usually never buy guitars thinking of resale value, but pushing $3K, I would have to think about that. I guess we will see in 5 years. The finishes and tones on the Vola's look amazing. God Bless bro!

    • @FunkyMonkey-ip4xy
      @FunkyMonkey-ip4xy 6 років тому

      jcoulter43 That's an unknown quantity really. They're a new company and if you check Reverb there are no used ones for sale. Relatively few brands hold their value, Gibson's do, some PRS do but not many. You can probably write off 1/3 of the value as a rule of thumb, but if the brand ends up niche maybe even more. Until they start coming up for resale it's anyones guess really.

    • @randyeppyt
      @randyeppyt 6 років тому +1

      PRS have kinda crap resale value. So maybe a good comparison?

    • @seanmatson1063
      @seanmatson1063 6 років тому

      Agreed -- your $3k PRS will likely sell for ~$2k in 5 years. On the one hand, you'll get 2 grand when you sell, on the other hand, you'll lose $1000 overall.

    • @randyeppyt
      @randyeppyt 6 років тому

      Sean - I've seen them sell at 60% of new within a few years. Usually you can get better money back on Fender/Gibson/ESP. Lose a lot of money on higher end PRS, Ibanez, Schecter, G&L, Godin

  • @greatreset3
    @greatreset3 6 років тому +1

    My vote is for the Schecter C1 FR S Apocalypse in Red Reign, or the Ibanez S1070PBZ for more features and better value at a way lower $1200 - $1400 price range. Just say'in. 🎵🎸

    What is everyone's opinion on V's for djent? I'm looking at a Jackson King V in my periphery-inspired band, but I don't think the overall aesthetic really suits that style. Should I stick with my original plan, or get a superstrat?

    I just came across Vola guitars for the first time yesterday. This is my favorite and it's only $1,399. I wonder if they started using some lower quality parts now, to sell at that price, if they were over $2,600 when you made this video 5 years ago. Or, if it's cheaper now because Vola exclusively sells direct to consumer now. Hopefully, it's the second of the two. The specs look to be the same over the years. Unfortunately, their website says this one is sold out currently....or I would have ordered one this morning!

  • @Unchainedmaple888

    I typically dislike Floyd's, but if the guitar has to have a Floyd (so many guitars I want only come with a Floyd), it needs to be a gotoh ge1996t Floyd. It's absolutely criminal that the gotoh Floyd doesn't come stock on more guitars. Good thing it's only like $120 aftermarket.

  • @KellyEastwood855

    Another great video, thank You!
    But! I think, it's not a big magic to give such a good guitar for that money! It's a premium guitar with a premium pricetag. It's not meant for the people! I can imagine that it's a big satisfaction to play it though.
    I prefer your videos in which you present guitars of good quality for reasonable price (not necessary cheap, just affordable ).
    Keep up the good work!
    Cheers!

    I know you've said you don't like Ibanez guitars because of their skinny neck shapes, but maybe you can try the Fireman if you spot one? It's got a much thicker neck then most ibbys and it might be more your thing. Also has mini's these days. The JS line also has a thicker then average neck then most.

      Agufish the only guitar I remember sounding good in dual humbucker position is my Chapman Norseman, because the pickups are kinda close together.
      Btw, I think you should review the new Chapman ML1 Norseman when Chapman will start making them again, I have the older version (2016) and I think you'll really like it. It's basically a full thickness single cut in a strat body and a Floyd, especially the older ones vibed like Les Pauls because they were heavier than boat anchors (mine weighs 15lbs lol), but the newer ones are 25 percent lighter according to Chappers himself

    It looks so sick though. Why can’t we get single cut guitars like this!!!!!!!!! For real goddamnitt!

    I have to give 1- point, because of the bolt-on neck.

      Josensalot Why?
      They carved a nice little spot around it, to make it easy to reach all the frets, which is the general complaint about bolt on necks.
      The guitar sounded great.
