Perhaps because the only purpose of this trem backplate is to be removed for ever?

HA! I posted this question on a Facebook page and it seems, like me, everyone else removes the plate.
Yeah. Everyone who owns a floating trem and uses it got tired of fucking with that cover a long time ago.
I agree, pretty inexcusable in a guitar of this price, and no, I don't leave the backplate off my trem guitars because I've had clothing catch in the springs and mess up a live performance. It might not be enough to stop me buying one, but if I was comparing with another equally lovely guitar which DID have a recessed backplate, i'd buy that one. Vote with your wallet....

I completely agree with your buying advice, take the guitar you consider in your hands and play it yourself.
I am forever sorry that I ordered my first "expensive" guitar blindly because I trusted the brand's reputation. By doing so I actually limited my choice.
With Sentient and Pegasus pups, this is clearly a metal machine!
Vintage Fender tuners are as easy if not easier than locking tuners imho. Nice work Henning ! :-)

I just wonder why they have bothered ? It's not quite a PRS, it's not quite an Ibanez, it's not quite a Suhr and it comes in a not quite MusicMan case... and the ergonomics haven't been thought through properly. It's got a pretty top but a very heavy price-tag for a mongrel... and my guess is that it'll depreciate even quicker than a new American PRS... that is if it can be sold at all.
In my humblest of honest opinions, I'm gonna have to say I didn't much care for this one Henning... Yes, the quilt is to die for and I'm sure it feels and plays amazing - but the in-between tones really didn't do it for me (always a compromise when you're splitting two hamburgers..). Plus it reminds me of the Harley Benton Fusion (not their fault...). Keep up the fantastic work :-)
I'm liking the Vola guitars, however, I would've gone with the green one. Because I love burl tops, and hate quilted ones with a passion that burns brighter than a thousand suns.
Having said that, I prefer the sounds and looks of the cheaper Oz to this anyway.
