As an owner of a previous Ltd Mh400nt and a current owner of a Les Paul studio faded from 2016, I'm seriously considering getting this as a cross over guitar combining my love for metal guitars and single cuts.

It seems to have a Les Paul-esque vibe in the tone at points (or maybe more Eclipse-like?) on the recording. Is it similar(ish) in the room?
With all the hoopla surrounding that "Play Authentic" video Gibson put out, this guitar PROVES my point!! I am a Les Paul fanatic and have been defending Gibson these past few days on numerous channels - I am shocked by the amount of people who think it is OK to steal another company's ideas, people disgust me sometimes.... This Solar model is EXACTLY what I have been saying is NOT ripping Gibson off!! Solar took the single cut design mostly associated with the Gibson Les Paul but they made it their own by just tweaking the design somewhat, and that is OK!! No way would a guitar player look at that one you are holding and think it was a Gibson Les Paul, well they might think it was a customized one but not a factory bought version. With the way they laid out the controls, the access point carve out and that head stock make the Solar it's OWN single cut.
All of these cheap knock off ( I prefer to call them rip off) company's just changed the head stock a little and people think that is enough to not be them stealing the Gibson design. When was the first Gibson Les Paul copy cat made? The Les Paul came out in 1952 and in either 1953 or 1954 Gretsch came out with their Electromatic line and is most definitely a Les Paul wannabe BUT... BUT.. they changed the control layouts and the bottom horn just enough to make their's NOT be an exact copy of the Gibson,and that is perfectly fine. Gibson did NOT invent the single cut shape we know to be the L:es Paul, so anyone can copy that and I do not consider it a rip off. It's when a company tries to make their guitar look "just like" a Gibson that I have my issue. On another guys You Tube channel there has been some back and forth going on between myself and his other subscribers. In the back ground he has all of his guitars hanging up, but I notice that he now has his Les Paul copies at the end of his wall rack and they stand out like a sore thumb. You can only see the bodies and about half the neck and I guarantee you that people who have not watched his videos on those two guitars think he has two GIBSON Les Paul's hanging there because they look "just like" a Les Paul. THAT is where my issue comes in at! Do what Solar and Gretsch and a few others have done, use the single cut "Les Paul" body style if you want, but change a few things on the face so as to not appear to be trying to rip off Gibson.

Here in Brazil to have a guitar like this you have to sell your house, the sellers put the price far beyond what the instrument is worth, the value it is here for you to have an idea, it is easier for me to go to the United States and buy there
I’ve actually heard that happens a lot, like anytime anyone I know goes down to Brazil they try to bring a guitar or two down with them. It’s not the retailer’s fault, necessarily. It’s the import taxes, from what I understand :’(
@@agufish I buy only used guitars and with an affordable price, which is hard to find, guitars like Gibson, music man, esp, are out of our reality to find something cheap, here are very expensive brands no matter the series, even Chinese guitars with low quality here usually are expensive

My insult to Gibson is that PRS wouldn't exist as a guitar company if Gibson had proper quality control. If you see PRS still around, chances are Gibson still has quality control issues.
Bad ass looking guitar. Plus, you can stab your neighbors with the headstock if they complain about the noise.
Something I noticed when mixing this, these pickups have a very unique sound to them. Very Ola Englund sounding as you guys can hear.

How about balance and weight of this baby? Swamp ash might be very heavy sometimes. Also my Washburn Solar Px-170's neck overweighted and needs additional support by left hand.

ESP, IBANEZ, many others are now producing single cuts, just as good as Gibson, no wonder they are upset. Aside from the $2500 and up Axxess or whatever, you can get the same quality for a third of the price, so it's just buyer beware. If you need that name on your headstock then fine, but for the shredders, well I don't even own a Gibson. I do however have many others. And 1 great single cut.

My only experience with Solar Guitars was an inquiry I made about a model with an Evertune bridge. I don't play 9s and emailed to ask if they would put another set of strings on (at my expense - for the strings and any other costs) and they said they would not. I asked if they knew of anyone here in the U.S. who could adjust an Evertune for the change in string gauge and, again, they said "No". Not very helpful given the $1,400 cost of the guitar I was trying to order.

Have you seen the new Gibson single cut? It's called Les Paul, which means "The Paul" in French. It's supposed to be super authentic, but I think they just copied Solar. Still a pretty nice guitar, though.

I think the pickups should be thought of the same as the Ibanez/Seymour Duncans or Ibanez/DiMarzio.

I have this guitar in black but it just will not stay in tune. it's got the factory supplied strings and tuned to d standard but will go out of tune no matter what I do. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions please?? I love the guitar but it's annoying me how quickly it drops the tuning!

Does it sit well on your lap comfortably? Single cuts don't always sit the best...and with 24 frets can be even worse.

The solar is nice, but the absolute best are the three single cuts in the background. How authentic can you get. Gibson corporate can suck it. I think Mark might be knocking on Norms door soon.
