Great video! One of the things I love about the marketing field is that if you have access to the internet and a computer, it's accessible to self-teach (kind of like what Alif mentioned in his tip). I graduated from college with multiple internships, good grades, and leadership experiences but struggled to land a marketing job. It wasn't until after I started doing some out-of-the-classroom marketing that I was able to land a job. Once I dove into marketing (through creating a blog) it actually got easier to find marketing jobs that were a better fit for me and my career goals. Thanks, again, for a great video. I loved hearing about the different paths people took to get into marketing.

Out-of-the-classroom marketing is what makes all the difference! Most people think of it as working for free or don't understand the point, but that's how you start to build that portfolio to demonstrate the skills and willingness. Thanks for the thoughtful comment!
Thank for sharing this, girl! I’m a marketing student myself from the PH, but is quite anxious and is tempted to venture back to health care. All the best 🙇🏽♀️🤍
Binging through all of your videos Elif, thank you so much for the tremendously helpful content your regularly putting out. Quick question: how do we go about putting a marketing portfolio together? If you have a video on thus pls direct me. Thxx
I feel like... people are dismissing me because of my ethnicity or my internships… people see a short period of working, and the word internship, and assume that it was an unpaid opportunity, where much learning did not happen, but my internships are literally where I learned the most, and I have a business where I market companies as well!
Well, you're not alone. Right now the market in NA is quite difficult. trust in yourself. Also, keep a track of the software the keeps repeating in all those job descriptions. If you see a trend, you might want to find out if there is a way to get certified in that software and give some extra boost to your profile.
Thank you, what would be a good way for me to get experience with Google analytics, and SEM without any experience? I am applying for entry level positions but not having any luck because I've never had a formal marketing position before and all these employers want someone with familiarity in these categories
Try to think from the perspective of a hiring manager. You have no experience, no formal marketing eduction. So what can you bring ot the table? - Can you complete Google's certifications on GA4, GTM, Become a Digital Marketer ? - Could you do some form of local Search campaign for businesses in your area? - Could you get an intership in marketing? Not an entry level position, but an internship.
@@hkhatri12 I do have a bs in marketing, just lack formal experience. I've tried getting an internship but no luck as they seem to only want college students
