Thanks for the valuable lesson. I have always believed the concept that the customer is always right but, Seth's concept seems to suggest that one critics cannot speak for all. That we should listen to the other voices as well. That's great.

Don't focus on impressing or converting the average masses. Focus on serving the 10-100 people so well that they'd miss me if I'm gone.

That part about addressing a small audience and to not worry about the others was extremely helpful for me. I stopped the video because I just had to change the wording on one of my landing pages right away. :D It feels good to know that it is okay if a lot of people don’t like or get what I have to offer. Then it’s not for them. It’s important that the right people know that I am there.
I also liked to get advice instead of feedback. This is one of these seemingly little things that can make a big difference I believe.

I use to think I couldn’t be sincere and I couldn’t market my work genuinely. But making that shift to believing that I am looking for the small group of people who are needing and are looking for my work has changed my business.
And I have to say listening to Forleo and Godin has helped me do that 💕

His entire thesis is extraordinary. 180 degrees in opposition to the way current 'marketing' is being done. Wholeheartedly believe that this is the future. Instead of being selfish, being in service of the marketplace.

I am a business consultant for artists, and I spend quite of bit of time convincing artists not to do work for free, or sell their pieces for too low. A great definition as to whether you've priced too low is if you resent the sale afterwards. Seth and Marie make a really great point that "free earns you trust and attention. And, trust and attention are the two building blocks of the economy." So, while artists' works shouldn't be free, there are a whole slew of things that they can do to add value to other artists, patrons, buyers, and admirers. Thank you for the video!

What an awesome interview and I’m definitely buying the book! I love Seth and watch every bit of content that I can from him. I’ve never watched anything he’s done and failed to learn from it, his insight is gold and so easy to understand. I’ve just started a business and am still deciding where I fit in my niche, but now I know, I’ve great at what I do and refuse to sell myself short. I will still have the occasional offer to bring new people through the door because people don’t know you yet, but when they do, they will stay 🤩. And if they don’t, that’s ok too, they didn’t value what I had to offer. 💕. Thanks Seth and Marie for helping me with this! 💕💕💕

The best that I got from you guys today was the reassurance that there is a beautiful movement of people working to make and expand better marketing. Making it about truth, empathy and real people. Thank you guys so much.
On a more specific level I can say you just solve a problem for me. Maybe it's not much of a practical problem but here it is:
Sometimes I can get overwhelmed with all the noise out there... All these huge numbers, stories about unicorn businesses, million dollar ideas, overnight success or whatever... This makes me freeze and get into inaction, I start digging a hole of self doubt and asking myself if what I'm doing is even worth it....
After listening you guys chat today I feel really confident in moving forward and taking action without so much FOMO. I don't "need" to solve the problems of MILLIONS neither do I "have to" solve MILLIONS of problems for some people. Just solving ONE or TWO problems for a specific group will do the job! I love the idea and it's still awesome, meaningful and great! It's a very practical and humble approach.

This surprised me because it rings TONS OF BELLS for me ! So I am on the right track. A perfectly timed bit of reassurance for me (am creating a course), plus some very good advice thrown in, namely not to worry about getting spots on the white tablecloth but to push ahead and focus on what matters. Thank you. And I am ordering the book. Thanks for that, too.
The comments about the critics are so to the point. There used to be a newspaper dance critic who quickly made me realize that if he liked a piece, I would enjoy it too and one of my friends on the other side of the world used to talk about films he'd seen and I started to rely on his assessments because I often too enjoyed the films he said he'd enjoyed. And that's so wonderful. But I also learned to ignore the other art critics when they wrote about a dance performance and other friends when they were enthusiastic about some film because their personal tastes and interests were simply different - and there is nothing wrong with that. It did not make me dislike the latter people. It made me focus on the other two people with regard to dance performances and films.

This was a great episode. I really needed to hear this. Even though I have a dream client avatar, I still don't write my marketing copy for her. I needed to hear this today so that I can really niche down my copywriting. BTW I am a student of The Copy Cure and I'm loving it!!!! You really do give 110% Marie. Thank you!!!!

I am a real estate broker for a large company. Feedback on showings is always a struggle between agent, sellers and showing agents. The difference of advice and feedback is something I will be pondering and framing in a way I can take to my agents. This was an excellent video! I have added the book to my list. Many thanks!
