here's the ugly part in advertising:
- clients sometimes are stupid and illogical so you have to deal how difficult their attitude is even you know what is a better solution for their brands.
- work is demanding so you sometimes you might have to stay late nights, work on weekends and holidays, they sometimes even call you up while you're on holiday
- there are a lot of politics, people who want to take credit of your work especially for awards, people who suck up to bosses and gets the promotion, people who talk behind your back, looking for someone to blame. It's a stressful environment so watchout for bullies from different departments.
- lack of budget, time to create quality work.
- some talents are exploited they give you lots more work and responsibilities, they give you a promotion that sounds nice as a 'title' but they don't compensate for it. If the agency loses the account they fire you or they fire the whole creative team who handles the brand.
what i mentioned above varies from country-to-country, company-to-company but hey, for the most part, it's fun, rewarding, you will learn a lot, you will meet a lot of people, there's a lot of parties too, you can make money, travel. It changed my life! try different companies so you can get experience, figure out what you really want. don't be afraid to quit your job if you're not happy, there are lots of opportunities out there especially for young people, look for another one that has a culture that fits you. you don't need to be a slave in advertising.
Wow I just read all of this and even still, it sounds very challenging and warming for me. Idk why maybe I like a little slope of edge risky situations where I have things to lose. It shows that it takes Growth, determination and adaptability to become a great advertising executive in the future. Since I was born I have always have a huge imagination from almost anything my mind set to from any topic. Especially for people that I am around they tend to listen and favor my out spoken look on things and ideas. Where do I start? I was one of gods strongest fighters last year and then he Moses me to reset my whole life to chose a career for ME!
I work at my local newspaper as an "Advertising Account Executive" in charge of the digital branch of the newspaper. I would love to pick your brain and learn from you as I desire to make this my career.
What customers are difficult, what? What?
Advertising, particularly on TV, is one of the dark arts. It used to be basic persuasion and manipulation. But add to that political correctness and social-engineering, then one has something sinister. Anyone wanting to work in advertising has to be suspect.
What is the best way to transition into the advertising industry?
So strange, I'm interested in advertising as a career and this is the first video I came across. I am also named Daria and also live in Toronto and have that plant stand and bookshelf in my room lol

Nobody talks about Advertising and usually turn to marketing or digital marketing. So i appreciate it. You're the only page i turned the notification tone on. Keep up the great work. Ill stay tuned👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Thank you very much for this video. I’m an aspiring copywriter. I’m just starting out and have been working on a portfolio. Do you think it’s realistic to be hired by an agency as a junior copywriter in Los Angeles without going to portfolio school?
I’m in the industry and I hope I can shed some light. In my experience, bigger agencies are definitely more rigid in their selection process. Smaller agencies usually take a chance based on cultural fit and potential. I started at a mid size agency and now I’m at a boutique shop. I love smaller shops because it give you a lot of flexibility and gives you room to develop a robust set of skills outside of just your field. One crucial advice is really growing your network. I’d jump on LinkedIn and scout some agencies that you find a good fit and just try to connect with employees there to develop a relationship. Good luck on your journey!
@@misterpeekz Hey! I'm graduating High school soon. I'm confused if I should study Diploma in Public Relations or Marketing Communications to strengthen my Content and Copywriting skills to land a good job. So, are you on any social media where we can interact? That would be great!
@@dishasarkar.haven.inkonhearts I know this wasn’t a general question, but I just graduated with an advertising degree. I’ve had public relations internships in the past. All PR isn’t the same, but a PR degree program will teach you how to write (press releases like when a new product is coming out. Something is sent to the media.)
For advertising the best advice I can give you or anyone else is to know if you want to be a creative (art direction, copywriting) or not (strategy, media planning and buying, ad sales). If you want to go the creative way, creating commercials, social media, billboards, then try to go to portfolio school or a college that has a specific creative sequence. If you’re in the US try Miami Ad School or a school with a student ad agency.
If you want to place the actual ads on tv that’s media planning and buying. This is $$. Selling the space for an ad (billboard, commercial space) that’s ad sales. Also $$.
Strategy is also a good career to look into. Super creative but not actually creating the ads. Basically the concepts.
@@joneedavis2624 thanks a lot
@@joneedavis2624is there any education program recommended to those interested in the strategy field?
What do you need to study to become a kind of an artist in advertising...

Hi Daria! I also work for an agency, focused on digital marketing and ad. Just wanted to ask you which is the name of your agency, because I am so interested in working opportunities abroad and love Toronto so much! Thanks in advance ;)
I about to finish my degree and getting a foot into the industry seems to hard. I'm looking for anything at the moment just to build some knowledge and work experience. Do you have any advice regarding how to put yourself in the right place to get work experience placements and internships?
If you are still looking for advice, I would say take as many internships as you can. Look at job qualifications for certain tools/software you should be learning.
Hi There! Just wanted to check with you on something, it’d be great to know what’s the salary bracket or range of a Creative Director in Toronto market, Like someone with 15+ years of experience in Multinational Big agencies, and international clients in different countries all around the work.
Can give you more details on the profile if required. Thanks
Which are the best advertising agency ??
Hi, anybody here, what courses would you advice I study to become an advertiser? I already majored in PR and Advert in College but my country does not have a Masters Degree in the field.
Hey which one is the best & high paying job in advertising agency, like Graphic Designer, Motion Video ad Designer or something else or what is the good opportunity in Advertising Agency...?
What’s the option to become to advertising director?
Hello :) I have a quick question, is advertising an oversaturated job??
It depends on your focus but I'd say not, I work at one of the big ad agencies giving back end service to the region. There's a lot of openings and people come and go, start high, or start low, there's definitely a market for it based on the openings I see across the region, mostly on digital advertising.
I am going for an advertising degree and am a little worried If I will have the chance to be hired
what is it you majored and minored in, in college?
❤️👍
How do I find small businesses who advertise online

Iam in med school but intrested in advirtizing
So cute
@Daria_Erza.
I would like to point out that there's a difference between thriving and striving.
You've misused the word strive a few times.
In an environment that compels you to perform, where you find motivation to go above and beyond, you thrive.
When you're working towards a goal you strive.
You strive to achieve that goal.
Does that make sense to you?
