That was fascinating seeing the different looks that you achieved with the same two products and different styling methods. I can't manage the bowl method myself but my version of this product application method is applying styling products to soaking wet hair in the shower, then combing the products through before pulsing my hair. I generally plop in the shower while my hair is still dripping wet (sending mental thanks to you every time I use my Dock & Bay hair wraps - so good I bought more than one 💚) and these two steps achieve similar strong wave clumps and product distribution that you get from the bowl method. Best of luck with your bathroom renovation!!
It's amazing isn't it that you can create so many different looks with so little! I think when my bathroom is finished I'm going to try your method in the shower - I can imagine that creates some lovely clumps without the mess of water all over the place! I know aren't they amazing, I have a dock and bay hair wrap on my christmas list 😊 x
@@Tori_Hunter Yes, it definitely creates more defined clumps for me and I can be as enthusiastic (and make as much mess as I want) when pulsing products into my hair. My hair is coarse which means I have to glaze a bit more strong hold gel on my hair after I remove the hair wrap, post-plop, but you might not have this issue.
I think the bowl method works so well because the water clumps the hair together super well and allows product to distribute easily in so much water. If you tried the bowl method without any product tho I think the result would be still be good thanks to the method itself 🙌
This is a very interesting thought - I personally think there would be a difference in the result overall if I didn't use product; but I'm quite tempted to try it and find out 😄 Def agree the water helps create the lovely juicy clumps!
hi Tori… l guess having freshly washed hair before any routine is very important? 😊 you get amazing results every time! thank you for the video tutorial!
This was so very interesting Tori. I love the bowl method as I get really good hair clumbs and more moisture as my hair is on the dry side .I also like you, like my hair to feel soft but also with definition .My hair also goes like yours at the ends its a bit more thinner I did have a trim so it's not so bad now I add oil on the ends .I've just tried the Merwave and I was very impressed it lasted me nearly a week with so much definition and lovely waves I even had some 2c waves I also found the Merwave refresh spray really good I just spray a touch of water then use the spray it just brings back the waves and hair is soft .I still put my hair in a pineapple with silk scrunchie I use a satin pillowcase why don't you do that method anymore. It's taken me about a year to get my waves sorted and in better condition its definitely been a learning curve thank you for your help Tori much appreciated ❤
Hey Blondiejam So glad you found it an interesting video. It really does sound like we have very similar waves 😊 I have been struggling with a lot of shorter hair towards my crown and then I saw an IG reel about scrunchies potentially causing breakage; I’m not sure I believe that but I did think it wouldn’t do any harm to change my method and put the theory to the test 😆 Sounds like you’ve had really lovely results from the merwave system. I’ve ordered it and got it but until our bathroom is finished I won’t be able to film the process so thought I’d wait until I can, I hope mine goes as well as yours 🤞 Thanks so your lovely comments, a learning curve it absolutely is…x
Are you sure it's not new hair growth do you use a silk scrunchie and have it loose hope you get it sorted. Hope you got loads of cupboards in your new bathroom for all your hair products 😂
@@Tori_Hunter I found the Invisibobble satin scrunchies are very good at not causing damage because they don't put much tension on the hair while keeping it in place. They're really easy to take out of your hair again in the morning which also helps reduce breakage.
I purchased both of these products based on your recommendation and love it! Thanks Tori for sharing your experience. I was wondering whether you could share your heatless waves routine :) Thank you!
Hey @tatiana - they’re lovely products aren’t they? I reach for them every single wash routine at the moment. The other day I just used the gel for a scrunch only and it worked beautifully ❤️ I already have a video for the heatless unicorn method I’ll link that for you but I’m also planning a video on a different method this month so should be up in the next few weeks 👌 x
I have thick course hair, with greys, which are even more course, and I'm trying to find something that will make my hair soft. Like you, I don't like texturizing products. I've been finding out how much leave-ins & creams my hair needs, which is a lot more than most and I've been using creams & leave-ins on my dry hair too.
I guess because of the texture of your hair you need a lot more - it's all a little bit trial and error to work out exactly what and how much our hair needs i think 😊
I like the gel I wish it was a stronger hold.I deep condition on wash day after Rinsing out use your bounce curl defining brush then dry excess water with t-shirt or microfiber towel then use a spray heat protectant then add the gel flip over and scrunch scrunch scrunch with your hands then you need a hair diffuser use on low heat allover for defining curls after dry apply Olaplex oil to scrunch out the crunch I use hair spray for more hold.I use leave in conditioner on refresh days with very little water then hit your hair with the diffuser just a few times. Hope thiS helps

I only use the Olaplex gel and the oil on the ends. Wait a few days then use the leave in conditioner as a refresher.
I really like the leave in as a refresher - I find it really helps with dry ends/tangles.
How do you like the gel?

@silverlight6005 sounds like a great routine to me 👌✨
Hi Tori, how do you wrap your hair in a satin scarf? I have a similar wave pattern and struggling with protection over night!
