Carson seems to understand, like few modern singers, that the lyrics actually tell a story, and you have to sing it as if you're trying to get the message across. They're not just random words through which to demonstrate your vocal chops. Thanks for always singing the MEANING, man!
It is hard to comprehend how a man with only a guitar and his voice can produce such kind of magic, be it cover or original songs. Man, you are truly Blessed.
How could you even, for one second, consider that this might be a mistake. Oh man, this is exquisite, should be a mainstream release. What a voice, what a talent!!
Okay, the original carries that feeling of wanting escape, to get away from things, even after the whole song is done. *this* version really makes the ending the part that sticks in the mind and heart. Sir, that's brilliant
I was a senior in high school when this song was popular on the radio. I have so many great memories associated with it. Great version, Carson. Thanks for bringing me back to a wonderful time in my life.
I was so expecting a “Carson’s country Cooking corner” when I saw this pop up. But it sounds fantastic! I like this chill rendition! Reminds me of walking on the beach as a kid
I groaned when I first saw this as Escape is one of those songs that I automatically turn off when I hear it. I decided to listen because it was you, lol. I absolutely loved your version. You have forever redeemed this song for me. Thanks for yet another gift, Carson!
You have to love when the worst part of the video is Carson trying to convince us this might have been a mistake. I'll see you back here in a few days/weeks when this has a million views! Incredible ' cover'!
Brilliant...Carson Im a drummer for 54 years now in South Africa (Cape Town) and just LOVED that groove...hey there's so much I could do with it...THANKS
Just one word comes to mind...PERFECT. Never knew it was possible for this song to be better than the original arrangement, but there it is. 🤯 Great job!
I have been working through your videos, Carson since following you from the Other Favourites. This rendition of escape is amazing. I listened with a smile throughout. Thank you for an incredible experience of pure joy. I am watching it over several times as i always liked this song a lot. Still a huge fan of yours from Australia. From australia
Duuuuuuude, this is absolutely sublime. Just what I needed. Have you ever done any Randy Newman covers? I feel like you'd do a fantastic Falling in Love.
This is definitely NOT "a massive mistake." Over the years I have heard Escape over & over again on the radio. It still shows up regularly on a local station. It may be the same words & notes, but you have made it a fresh new song. It works, very well.
Was afraid to listen to this posting because it might become an ear-worm a la It’s a Small World. MAN, WAS I WRONG! This is so freaking great. I played it for Karen and she just kept smiling and shaking her head yes. Yep, another classic from a class act. Thanks, Carson. Hope you can make it back to Michigan sooner than later. ~ Mark
Having established to my satisfaction you make proper Sunday gravy, I have confidence in your Piña Colada making skills. I am always delighted by your music. Thank you for another gem. One of my favorites.
Doctor Bird Jamaica rum, pineapple, lime juice, cream of coconut, coconut milk...the only question mark is using that Vitamix, which I'm not used to doing. A blender hefty enough to be measured in horsepower is sort of terrifying. But yeah would recommend my bartending 👍
Awesome singing and style on this classic song Carson. You did an amazing job, sounded great, fantastic voice control, fantastic guitar playing, people are gonna love it 😊
No disappointments here, so refreshing and well arranged. I can see you and Tracy Chapman collaborating on this masterpiece you have created. No mistake.
As usual you come through with a great tune. Excellent. Your music always delivers excellence. Thank you for sharing your talents and keep up the EXCELLENT work.
This slaps. My first ever big animation project back in college was a lyric video for this song (on my "channel" if anyones interested in poorly made vector animations). Somehow despite having to listen to it several hundreds of times during the making of that, I still love the original, go figure. So yeah, think that lends at least a little bit of weight when I say; this cover legitimately SLAPS 👏👏👏
Marvelous! I Love it! Thank you Carson, you're the Best! It Brightens my day when I log into YT & see you've posted a new tune~ Much Gratitude to you for 'lifting' my day~ Sending love & blessings to you & all your viewers~
Carson…thank you! Love your version! I’ve been hanging out at a resort in Florida for 2 months. I’ve been forced to listen to that song over and over.🤦🏼♀️ Thank you for new version…such a welcomed change. PS, this resort needs a new music repertoire. All the *Island* songs.
Well done! Love it! 👏👏👏 I wondered what you have been up to with Josh on tour in England. Don’t stay away so long next time. Sorry I missed you in Indianapolis. I swore if you guys ever got to Indi I was going to see y’all. Unfortunately, my health isn’t the greatest these days so I couldn’t go. Maybe next time. 💗Debbie
I might say this is one of my favourite covers, of a song I didn't have much time for, before this version. However, it has been hanging out head for several weeks, so I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a curse!
This is soo beautiful. Thanks, Carson! Been listening on headphones and it's funny how the image shifts when you move your mouth left and right. Excellent performance. Cheers, Renee
Hey Carson, this was just great. I really liked this song when I was in college in Flagstaff AZ, long before I was married. I've been married now for 40 years! (happily I might add) Imagining what would happen if this really occurred is certainly a case for gun control. I think the words would have to be changed to more like, "So you like Pena coladas? You're gettin' shot in the rain! You won't need any health foods...but you will feel no pain..." Keep after bro. Sounding really good.
Carson seems to understand, like few modern singers, that the lyrics actually tell a story, and you have to sing it as if you're trying to get the message across. They're not just random words through which to demonstrate your vocal chops. Thanks for always singing the MEANING, man!
This. Yes, this.
It’s all the Bob Dylan he sings
A ballad. A ballad is a poem that tells a story and can easily be converted into a song😀
It is hard to comprehend how a man with only a guitar and his voice can produce such kind of magic, be it cover or original songs. Man, you are truly Blessed.
How could you even, for one second, consider that this might be a mistake. Oh man, this is exquisite, should be a mainstream release. What a voice, what a talent!!
this went way harder than i thought it would. carson doesn’t disappoint
Great arrangement! Stripped down you can feel the lyrics. The imagery pops out more. Worth all the effort for sure.
From an old guy who grew up on that song....GREAT JOB. You have breathed New Life into this classic.
I was so expecting a “Carson’s country Cooking corner” when I saw this pop up.
But it sounds fantastic! I like this chill rendition! Reminds me of walking on the beach as a kid
I wouldn't be a good host since I misread this recipe and made 40oz of piña coladas for myself. Or maybe I'd be perfect...
I didn't expect this rendition to slap this hard. Excellent job Carson!!
very fun song!! Well done. See you at the Knitting factory this Sat!!!!!
I groaned when I first saw this as Escape is one of those songs that I automatically turn off when I hear it. I decided to listen because it was you, lol. I absolutely loved your version. You have forever redeemed this song for me. Thanks for yet another gift, Carson!
The version we didn't know had been missing in our lives until today.
You have to love when the worst part of the video is Carson trying to convince us this might have been a mistake.
I'll see you back here in a few days/weeks when this has a million views!
Incredible '
cover'!
Brilliant...Carson Im a drummer for 54 years now in South Africa (Cape Town) and just LOVED that groove...hey there's so much I could do with it...THANKS

Wow Carson thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent. Amazing version of a beautiful song.
And this is why this song was written, you have magic inside you.
This should be on the radio.
Side note: I love Carson, Josh, Reina and Tony but my favorite one to watch sing is definitely Carson. :D
Carson being clever, creative, melodic and always, always worth a listen.....Thanks.
Always loved this song and your take is just flat out excellent! 👏👏
Awesome!

Love this song and love the arrangement and performance!! Great work Carson!! How do you youngsters discover these oldies? I love it!!
Amazing arrangement, amazing performance. This video should have millions of views and likes.
This is definitely NOT "a massive mistake." Over the years I have heard Escape over & over again on the radio. It still shows up regularly on a local station. It may be the same words & notes, but you have made it a fresh new song. It works, very well.
Just perfect. Every note carefully expresses your love for music! What a great version. I love your faces when you sing - so much joy is visible!
Man, this is a cool version...I LOVE your choice of dynamics...entertaining too...great job Carson! Greetings from Melbourne Australia
I think I've known this song since it was released. This is the first time I have listened to all the lyrics. Well done!
Was afraid to listen to this posting because it might become an ear-worm a la It’s a Small World. MAN, WAS I WRONG! This is so freaking great. It has a 'Toes' - Zac Brown Band vibe. Great
Absolutely, I thought the same.
Didn't expect it to be this good!
Carson nails it again. Brilliant vocals - so full of character and style. Love the facial expressions too. :-)
Loved this song back in the day, this version wonderful. Thanks Carson
Not a mistake, this is awesome. I hope it finds it way to Rupert. You should release this cover!
Your music reminds me of playing music with my brothers. So thank you.
You’ve managed to elevate a novelty into something with feeling. Bravo.
Love this version sooooo much.
Simply perfect. Thanks, Carson! Love it.
Pure Gold. Just fantastic!
very well done Carson, you have some good pipes and your choice of matl works well...tanks for sharing
what a great voice
I wish to pass away, be reborn, attain as many years and find this cover so I can hear it again for the first time.
You talented bastard, you.
You have such a beautiful voice but when you sustain and go into your vibrato...well it’s unmatchable!
Having established to my satisfaction you make proper Sunday gravy, I have confidence in your Piña Colada making skills. I am always delighted by your music. Thank you for another gem. One of my favorites.

I enjoyed this at Jammin Java last night. Thanks for putting on a great show!
Excellent job Carson, love your style!!!

I loved hearing this at the evening muse this week! Amazing version.
One word…..LOVE! Where can I download this?
That was utterly divine! It was stripped back to perfection. A great story, beautifully told!
This is by far the best thing I’ve heard in a while! Great take on this classic!
A favorite singer doing a favorite song. Good stuff on a Thursday afternoon.
Thank you for all the pleasure your songs have givien me. No douby many others feel the same. What a talent.
Very enjoyable. Thank you for your continued music.
I always tend to try and over complicate a song. Then I watch your magic. Just sublime perfection!
No disappointments here, so refreshing and well arranged. I can see you and Tracy Chapman collaborating on this masterpiece you have created. No mistake.

Just brilliant Carson - so much to love - your sound, tone & heart
Carson, Every moment of this was FAAAN-TAAASTIC!!! You are so crazy talented!!!
Brilliant. It actually works really well in a country style because of its narrative tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
There aren't enough superlatives available to do this 'maestropiece' justice. Thanks, Carson!
Your voice is literally delicious to listen to, purely in a musical sense, yaknow! Such lovely character!
Nice one, Carson. One of my late wife's favourite songs. Wonderful how you bring such clarity to the lyrics. Great voice too.
I love that song. Watching you perform it was awesome! Great version you created, and you sing/perform it wonderfully! Great, great job!
Wow, what a fun version to listen to and play as well!
Great Job Carson I felt like a was by a campfire on the beach or a cruise in the harbor on a wooden sail boat!!! Great Version!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Very nicely done
I might say this is one of my favourite covers, of a song I didn't have much time for, before this version. However, it has been hanging out head for several weeks, so I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a curse!
No risks no rewards. Glad that you took this risk - this is a great take on the song. Well done!
Bravo! I'm glad you scratched that itch. Cheers.
Best rendition ever!
Loved your rendition, a laid back version absolutely brilliant. A camp fire winner, sitting back eating s'mores, tapping along with the tune.
First time I've listened to that song. I think that's the sign of a great interpretation.
Lucky man ..beautiful voice and a beautiful glass of pina colada 🙂
Genius rendition..!
Very cool, I loved it. I enjoy your music very much
Great work Carson. Good luck with the gig later with Reina Del Cid
This is soo beautiful. Thanks, Carson! Been listening on headphones and it's funny how the image shifts when you move your mouth left and right.
Excellent performance.
Cheers, Renee
Wow! For the first time ever, I really listened to and enjoyed what I used to consider a meh, pop radio song. Thanks!
WOW..If only I could fire a tune out like this..Great vocals/strings..good man..👌👌🤜🤛
I'm only half way through and in love with this version!! thank you!!!
Hey Carson, this was just great. I really liked this song when I was in college in Flagstaff AZ, long before I was married. I've been married now for 40 years! You're gettin' shot in the rain! You won't need any health foods...but you will feel no pain..."
Keep after bro. Sounding really good.
as always a GREAT job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely No one can cover Rupert Holmes but this is better in its own way!
Fantastic! This is a great version period. So glad I caught you in Boulder... :):)
