My Back Pages (Bob Dylan Cover)

- One of the earliest Carson recordings is a cover of this song...probably still sitting on the hard drive of a dead mid-2000s iBook G4. That version, along with this version, was inspired by both Bob's original recording and The Byrds' uptempo, 4/4 approach. Also, to quote Han Solo, "sorry about the mess" - I'm working on some as-of-yet unannounced stuff in here, so I have a LOT of non-photogenic (and hand-blocking) recording gear set up...

Dylan songs were made to be covered and YOU were made to cover Dylan songs, Carson!
Nothing like enjoying a new music drop of yours, Carson...It's to the point now where I give the thumbs up 1st, THEN listen and enjoy!! 🎉
That’s the way.
Me too
well, after hearing the first word...
Same
Me too!
A guy that can sing both Dylan and Cash. Legend.
Both of them are an easy-peasy actually.
Plot twist: that's not an acoustic shield, its a hidden teleprompter! So many words! Love the rendition Carson, you rock on Dylan songs. :)
Carson, I'm a bit choked up. I've hardly heard this for decades, and haven't sung it since I bought the record when it came out.
I'm amazed that I could sing along, the words so ingrained, like most from that wonderful LP.
It's going in my set on Saturday, thanks so much for doing it FULL justice.
Delivery. Annunciation. Singing and playing thatis effortless. . A clinic on how to slay an audience in one clean shot.
I first heard this song when Roger and the Byrds covered it using the iconic Rickenbacker 360 12 string. Thanks George. Been a favourite ever since. Great job.
Beautiful rendition. It clearly showcases the quality of Dylan’s songwriting. Thank you.
Well said!
Carson, my favorite Dylan song. It really shows his brilliance. Yours is easily my favorite version of this great song. Thank you for your hard work. Your voce has a quality just made for this song.
I had almost the exact comments to make, but you said everything I wanted to, and eloquently. I too was struck by brilliance of Dylan's lyrics, which Carson so clearly enunciated.
@@edwardgarner1299 Edward, I think you and I should go get a beer and talk.
@@bruceparks3124 : if you're anywhere near Santa Cruz, CA - I would gladly get a beer with you.
You seem to feel the words. Thanks for doing this song. It makes me sad and happy at the same time. I say you have made “The Perfect Version” of the most poetic song.
Great Dylan Cover Carson!
Great version Carson, your voice gets better n better! Rod in London
Beautiful, Carson!
Yeah, one of my all time favourite Dylan songs, a warning not to let the politicals define everything about your emotions and your life. It is such a densely written piece. The thing is, lots of folks only remember it from the Byrds' version, which drops a verse and which mangles some of the lyrics. Good version, but the song always worked best acoustically. Good rendition here, and thank you for posting it. Loved it.
Yes, what can I say, again a wonderfully nice version of Carson
Nice Job. it really is a pretty tune when you can understand the words.
Your talent is a gift to us all. Thanks for taking me back to my youth with this beautiful song.
You sir inspired me to start my channel. Thank you sir
I think Mr Dylan would approve. Just wonderful!
Outstanding
Love this!
That is incredible!
Fantastic.
Inhale. Exhale. Thank you. ❤
amazing
What a wonderful job you do with just your voice and guitar!
Awesome job 👍
Great job Carson! Are you in standard tuning here? Is it possible to have the chords?
that's real nice ☮️❤️
We really need a Dylan playlist in the Playlist section. 🙂
Gloriously beautiful, as always.
Pure magic in bottle!
Soulful rendition, really wonderful!
Better than the original
Your voice is so smooth yet with an edge at the same time
Can’t wait for your next rendition
Jajajaja

I see you found new toys, hope it stimulates creativity
Very good sung great Video
Love this dylan song 🎵 ❤
Time to tackle "Changing of the Guard" by BD
Eager to know what's the as-of-yet-unannonced project!!
Great cover, as always 😊
Great job. Bob would approve.
Hear, Hear. Brilliant.
Very nice!
Oh to write like that. I do beg to differ with Bobby though . It's not a lie. Life has never been more black and white.
Of course that has been said of me, at times (but honestly, not often!) I found nothing wrong with his version but to repeat, it was missing the fire. When your soul takes ownership of a song, it makes a huge difference.
Are you in a tuning? GREAT SONG!
May you cover Dylan until you are 89.
Bravo well done the birds version was to fast to understand
Too smooth and sing-songy. The lyrics need the anguished, dramatic cadence of the original.
You play and sing very well and i enjoyed the song. However, your version lacks the rawness that made the original so powerful. It's just too polished.
I'm presuming from your picture that you are a pastor or priest? Perhaps people might say the same of your weekly message, as opposed to hearing directly from the Lord... but that's not what it's really all about, is it. ☺️
This song changed my way of thinking as a twenty-something. It still resonates at 70. Thanks for doing it justice.
The smooth sound with incredible range of Mr. Carson McKee! Play on Carson!
Carson, your cover of 'My Back Pages' was like a musical time machine - taking us on a journey through Dylan’s poetic landscapes with your own melodic signature. Your voice, like a compass guiding us through the maze of memories and reflections, captured the essence of 'My Back Pages' in a way that’s uniquely yours. Your vocal finesse and heartfelt interpretation made every line resonate anew, as if we were discovering these 'pages' for the first time. Keep rewriting these musical chapters, Carson, because your talent for storytelling through song is a gift that keeps on giving! 🎵🎁🎶✨🙏😊
How about lessons for this song
Does Bob Dylan know that you’re out-Bob Dylaning him? Absolute perfection!
😊
But not Roger and Byrds, not quite.
Always a treat to get a new Carson tune! Thanks ❤
Hi Carson I'm BIG BIG fan of what you do, if you like mark knopfler what about trying romeo and juliet ?
J'adore ta façon de chanter et aussi de t'accompagner à la guitare.J'en profite pour m'inspirer de ce strumming.A guy from France ;=)
Man, I wish I could say how much I love your voice without sounding crazy. I've yet to hear anything you've done that doesn't move me, and that's a rare thing for me.
Your voice is so beautiful. I appreciate the enunciation. First time I have understood all the lyrics.
You’ve made me a Bob Dylan fan over the years with all your wonderful covers of his tunes. This one is no exception!
Goodness Mr. Carson. I always love your voice and playing. Thank you so much for sharing your music with us.
Goes without saying this is super. Please re-release the old one. We love the old ones where you look like you're about nine.
I eagerly await every post from this stellar musician. Can't wait for the next live for fun :)
I have no idea what this song is about. 🤷♀️
Nobody does. I always loved it 😂 he was probably on acid or something when he rit it
Much prefer this to Dylan's
One of my favorites Dylan's tunes. Congrats on the spectacular rendition!
Perhaps the best and most soulful version ever of My Back Pages...Keep going, Carson.
Great cover man! Love that song. I believe the song is about Dylan thinking he knew it all (politics, religion, injustices..etc.) as a young man and he learned later in life that it’s not just clear cut and there are no absolutes in those things and therefore, stopped writing about them as much.

I've been singing this song the past couple of weeks for many, many reasons, and this is such a perfect cover. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Great cover man! Like 48
Had this Dylan song on my heart today in thinking about the presidential election. What a treasure to hear your voice remind us of the importance of some humility. Greetings from a rainy, Hurricane Helene affected North Carolina, Carson. Come'in home and play a concert.. we miss you.
Look'n skinny Carson
Helluva contraption for recording. Definetly isolates your vocals.
Sounds excellent
Thanks for sharing the music

Your delivery is outstanding! Quality worth the attention! Thank you. 👏
Wonderful job… Carson you definitely have the Gift… yes, do play on. May God continue to bless you 🙏
Beautiful, Carson. Really nice❤
Just wonderful. Man I listened carefully to the words yet again and I just think it is a marvelous word salad. I am not sure it really is decipherable in an intellectual way, but somehow is moving.
That was great. Well done! Thank you.
Reminds me of going to college, getting out, finding the “real world” to be very different from the ivory towers of the university. Still learning and getting younger every year.
I like your cover very much! Bravo!! Greetings from Spain!
Being a huge BYRDS fan, I was all ready to dislike this. But, even minus the harmonies, this is a PLEASURE!!
Excellent, really want to play this song like you. Wish I could see your left hand! Can you just give some hints to the chords shapes you are using? Capo 2 and based round G ?? Thank you!!!
Really like your voice and I think you do a great job conveying the lyrics. One suggestion would be to put a little more funk in your strum every now and then.
What a way to unwind in the evening! ❤ thank you for this song Carson!
love it man!! You have that mesmerising voice that captures Bob Dylan's wisdom so beautifully!!! I actually feel younger every time i i listen to My Back Pages!! Great Job thanks for inspiring us all
Are you still playing with Josh Turner? Perhaps you have gone your separate ways?
Great job on a fantastic choice to cover! Doesn't make a damn bit of sense but I love it to pieces!! Always have.
Thanks Carson. Really well done.
you're one of the best thing in my music world Carson. I'll never be grateful enough
Equality. I spoke the word, as if a wedding vow.
Very cool Carson...
Beautiful!🎉❤
Beautiful cover, Carson! As usual...

Awesome version. Dare I say, better than Dylan?
You were made to cover Dylan.
This is an exceptional rendition of a great song. You have a wonderful voice.
