- Here is my updated version of the top three lenses for the pocket 6K! I originally did this video for the pocket 4K that I owned but i've since upgraded to the 6K version. With that upgrade comes a whole new array of lenses. My philosophy has pretty much still stayed the same however.

Not a problem mate! If I had to suggest one it would be the 24-105. It’s a good all around lens

Do you know lenses that I can use with my BMPCC6KP thats compatible w the Blackmagic zoom demand attachments? I have found no info online about it
I respect your choice of lenses but there is nothing special about it, you have a very standard lineup and the same look as most have. Kind of disappointed because I thought you'd let us in your secret :) Also personal opinion - the look of your lenses don't really match well. I understand they are for different situations but I would prefer a lineup that is compatible with each other. For example, I am using Curtagon 35mm with Kreuznach Xenar 50mm and 135mm - they all have a very similar look and character to it, making creative production easier.
Fair enough, I like to think the contax lenses are sort of a “secret”. It really depends on the project for each lens. I shoot run and gun a lot and need to grab a lot of shots in a pinch. I thing is ever under control in my world so these have kind of been what I’ve been using. If I’m using the zeiss, I’m using the Helios as well or another longer vintage lens. I try not to mix modern and vintage whenever possible, but sadly it doesn’t work out that way sometimes. Hope that provides a little more insight.
How do you adapt the helios for the BMPCC6k
I use an m42 screw mount to EF adapter. You can find them on ebay for pretty inexpensive

Vintage lenses were never a secret.
That 24-105 is not sharp. It’s notoriously not sharp. I used to have it and loved it but the sharpness always bugged me. I have been curious about the canon non L 18-55 2.8 on the bmpcc 6k though. That lens has been considered over priced for a long time for what it offers but I’ve always liked the images from it. I haven’t seen anyone pair these yet though.
Sure. Im sure compared to a lot of lenses it’s not sharp at all. I don’t typically use photo lenses like it for video work. It’s the stabilization and the flexibility for me. I like cinema glass and vintage lenses so to me it’s “sharp”
Do you mean the Canon 17-55? That is an EF-S lens. And then there are also the ff zooms 16-35 and 24-70 both f4 and both have IS as well. Among all these IS zooms, I dont think anyone is significantly sharper than the other. The 17-55 tho, being the oldest model, doesnt have quite the stable image as the others. Also Tamron has zooms with pretty good IS (15-30 and 24-70), the are even f 2.8 and very sharp for the most part.
The Sigma 24-105 is sharper than the Canon, especially the first version of the Canon. There is no exposure drop off as the Sigma zooms, unlike the Canon. The Sigma is larger and heavier, though.
What multiplication factor do you have with the hellios?
the blackmagic sensor is apsc.
It’s a 58mm which on the blackmagic makes it about an 85. I try not to stick too hard to factors like that but instead I just remember that it’s around an 85. Might not be the “correct” process but that’s what I like to do. I just remember that it’s always a tighter lens around the look of an 85. Probably is technically longer than an 85. @@davinjacobs The bmpcc6k has a x1,558 crop factor compared to a "full frame" camera. That would give an equivalent field of view of ca. 78mm with the 50mm lens so it's actually less than an 85 by a fair bit
@@florianropers I’m more focused and speaking to the look of the lens rather than the actual number. It looks like an 85 even though it’s not actually an 85. I just know it’s a longer lens and use it when appropriate.

Yes, it is a c/y mount. Just search c/y to EF adapter on amazon

I found them all second hand on eBay. I would recommend just going to eBay and searching each one individually, since they can’t really be found on Amazon or B&H. So I’d search something like “contax zeiss 28mm f2.8” and find the best option. And same with the other two.
