Yes FAA state you have to register and have a drone license for any drone over 250grams. However with that said it is a good idea to register any drone you have.
I think calling this entry level, or for beginners professionals is overkill. This drone does exactly what it’s designed for. It’s a creators drone, and damn good one. I have seen several videos from the high profile UA-camrs, and IG creators that pumped out amazing results with this drone from there adventures. They are not beginners, or entry level. They are creators that make a damn good living doing what they do best, and this is a tool that does the job. With its price point, no more cable and using a phone, and size it’s a home run. I sold my Mavic 2 Pro. I just never brought it on trips, I hated setting up my phone with it, and packing it. This is perfect. Small, under 250g, easy pull out and shoot. The best camera for job is one have on you, this is that tool. I just hate how people think cause it’s not a 3K drone can’t make any good living, or quality video out of it. Just my opinion of course.
All of the mini's are incredible starter drones. I owned the mini, mini 2 and now preordered this. I shoot real estate full time and these drones fit that spot perfectly. It never was about price, its about me being able to fly wherever i want. If it wasn't for regulations id have the mavic 3 pro, so the mini's will have to do.

Great video, and the first one I’ve seen today discussing the 8bit color depth and comparing with the Air2s. That’s the info video shooters really need to know. Nice job!
@@robertagnarp7502 As much as I used to love those channels, I've honestly stopped relying on them for tech reviews that have any real depth, rather than entertainment and what feels like a sales pitch.
On the mavic forum today, they were saying that using cinelike-d profile produces 10 bit colour depth and apparently dji confirmed this.... so wow!!! That certainly makes a difference.
Being in Europe, the 249g size has no benefits really. You still need a license due to the recording capabilities for example and the license you need allows you to fly larger drones too. I went for both A1/A3 and the A2 open sub category license myself, and from signing up to the course to having the license in hand (digitally), I spend no more than 2.5 hours (study time and two tests included - I did lie and checked the box for having flied some specific patterns, as I had flied them before). However, be aware though about pricing. I saw so many places charging 4-600 euros for these courses. When I went to the Swedish Transport Agency (which I can since I am registered in Sweden and have Swedish social security details etc.), it cost me a total of 20 euro (15 for the license and 5 for the operator registration). Just in case someone in Europe is considering this for the size alone.
The law differs in various European countries, so it's good to check the law in your particular country. In Poland, it's not so restricted for small drones up to 250g.
Under EASA rules (which are in effect in the EU and Norway), you do not need a training/certificate for drones under 250 grams. Because the Mini 3 Pro has a camera, you do need to register as a drone operator. Naturally you will also need to respect area-specific rules such as No-Fly zones and restricted zones.
Thanks for a great review! I'm glad to see the new remote control with the inbuilt screen. I used to own Mavic Air 2, and it was a nightmare connecting the big iPhones to it. This one looks really good!
