My DJI Mavic Air 2 is sitting on an isolated, inaccessible marshy headland, where I lost it in April, only about 500m away from where I was in one of Northern Ireland's biggest towns. Away it went - then almost instantly, 'Signal Lost', and it refused to Return To Home, despite being close to me, despite having phone masts etc all around for signal strength. I had no way to reach it - hovering over a distant marshy field, with fields of flooded marshwater and chest-high rusty barbed wire and overgrown hedges preventing any way to get to it, so eventually, despite my frantic attempts to get towards it in time, I hadn't a hope of reaching it. It ran out of power, and dropped into trees and marshy ground below, where I finally got a brief, final 5 seconds of video feed at last, and a final GPS map location confirming where it is. And there it is to this day, resting in the muddy, marshy undergrowth, on an inaccessible piece of isolated unused land. It's hard not to still get angry with DJI's software just refusing to return back where it came from, but well, that's why I'm mulling over getting a new drone, now...
@@MattyDCCollins Nope, no point. I'd had it more than a year, and had no replacement insurance extra - all I could do is have a moment of pure terror (what if it fell out of the sky and hit someone?!) followed by all-consuming amber and frustration, knowing it had lost signal inside one of the North's biggest towns, and yet the software didn't automatically trigger a return back to original GPS. And here we are, and there it is. I loved the nature shots and footage, but after That burn, I'm reluctant to trust DJI again. Let's see...
