Just turned 54 today, and after about a 35 year hiatus, and because of my kiddo's interest in drums, I'm finally piecing together a kit. Mostly for him...which is what I tell my wife....but really, mostly for me. This is going to be a fun little journey. :)

Because of his skill I had no idea he was only 20. He really acts his age here, just a cool and humble kid, who just so happens to be incredibly talented.

Love that you're not overly OCD when it comes to tuning your kit at home - knowing there's a "place and time" to get all perfect - good enough can be good enough, and it gives the set a little "character:... Edit to add, you know when a drum sounds "sour"... and that ain't a good sound. You'll know when the drums sing, and when the drums "sing back at you", THAT inspires you to play... all the time... :)

I am a 68 year old,long time drummer/percussionist and have very much enjoyed viewing your videos here for the past 3 months or so...Your incredible,physical prowess about the kit,is in keeping with your stunning musical understanding and far beyond your years...Obviously,Buddy was a huge influence and would no doubt be honored and enamored with both your talent and style...No doubt,he would threaten to ''Break your wrists",as he joking said to a drummer friend of mine back in high school...lol
This Vlog style presentation,showcasing your personality,up close and personal,was refreshing and was presented in humility and in a very real & non-intimidated manner...It simply felt good...Like sitting around a campfire,chatting with friends who share a common passion...

Listen dude, I'm not even going to try to tell you how to be you, but here's my 2... I was just intro'd to your highly talented presence via 66Samus and I was completely blown away at your chops! Most musicians are usually eccentric & goofy as heck and I wasn't even expecting anything less from you, but after watching one of your shorties from your channel, I watched this flick and let me tell you, you're a cool cat Greyson. I have an 8 y/o that turned 9 today (gotta get used to that I suppose), at any rate, if the kid turns out 1/2 as gifted and smooth as you are, he's set! KEEP dropping the occasional spoken word flicks, it really shows how much of a grounded, fine young man your mom has raised! Best of luck to you my man!
I looooove these vlog esk videos. It really helps me see you as a person and not another drum freak, which isn't a bad thing. But seeing you like this helps me relate to you more and I find it very humbling!
Yeah, deffo more talkie vids Grey. You know what, not only are you an unbelievable talent on the kit, but a top guy too. I watched the video of you talking about being in hospital for a long time and when you were at college everyone partied whilst you practiced. Your whole approach is just so wholesome and honest and genuine. It's a delight to hear you converse either with words or through your drums and cymbals.

After hearing your drumming for the first time a while ago I immediately became a huge fan! Insane skills, so much taste. Yeah, great video. When I was taking lessons some time ago I would go out for coffee or lunch with my teachers, all who made a name for themselves in the 50's-70's (and one in the 90's) and I learnt so much just from the conversations about playing and music. So yes to more of these types of videos!

Definitely yes on some more of these types of vids. I'm really methodical with the lug tensions so seeing you do it your way hurt a little but like you say, it's all good! Also lesson videos would be cool. And it would be great to get an idea of your practice routine. Shout out to the demon drive pedal!

This is exactly what I do! I can tune the whole kit, with the exception of the snare, without a key! Also, I love and agree with the freedom of just playing and not worrying about the "rules" of a drumhead. Does it sound good? is it dented? otherwise just play!!! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Enjoyed the talking, tuning, walk around and behind tour of your kit. Casual presentation with lots of great information. Felt very homey and informal. Liked the behind the scenes feel (seeing the sticks all over the floor, etc.) All this made it feel real and welcoming. Nice blue and cozy looking sweatshirt. The only thing missing was a fireplace :) Never heard of lug locks before, so thanks. Surprised to see you using what I always thought were way too beat up heads (with all of the tip marks). Looking forward to more of these. One thing I would have liked to see is how you tune the bottom heads in relation to the tops. Maybe that is covered on another video? All the best and take care.
