Great attitude. You can see why this guy gets hired
I saw Morrissey and his band this week at Hammersmith Apollo, and Brendan Buckley is such a graceful, crisp drummer. I could tell that he played as an integrated member of the band, never showy, but always driving the songs. Excellent musician.
When I saw Morrisey live his backing band was amazing!
Morrisey is a rascist
Solid as a rock. Such a great tasteful player.
modern drummer been droppin heat lately
Ive had the pleasure of playing with Brendan on stage in studio for decades.. he is one of the best in the world... his band "Fulano De Tal" in Miami was godhead .. look up their album "Normal"
Fernando!!! 🎸
Fulano de Tal....what a great name paying homage to Brazil??
A TRUE artist who I can relate to and see plays for the passion with feel, playing for the song instead of himself.... As a drummer it's taken me years to to get it and appreciate what it takes to understand "LESS IS MORE" 😎😎🎼🥁🥁🥁🥁🎶
Yeah it's good to not waste "notes". They are expensive. And need time to ring out and "breathe" to be heard. More notes do not turn a bad song into a good one. Just remember the number 1 thing regardless of what you play is to "sound good" doing it. Cymbals being a big focus that alot of drummers don't prioritize first, before the drums. Cause there are too many "decent" drums available at a decent price too that with the proper drumheads can sound good. Cymbals are still expensive (good ones), but the number 1 thing that helps create "your sound". That and more cowbell :)
I think this current lineup is the best I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of Morrissey shows.
Really kind dude and great drummer!
What an absolute professional. Excellent player. No wonder he gets great gigs. Nice interview, thanks for doing.
You do realize almost any drummer can play that 16th note hihat beat right?
@@ericmsandoval Has nothing to do with being able to play 16th notes on hi hats.. It’s about his professionalism in working with the band mates, continually improving himself by studying his performance, his great communication skills and I’m sure his 16th note hi hats patterns are probably much cleaner than most (if that is what his boss/Morrissey or Shakira, etc wants him to play).
@@ericmsandoval You do realize there's much more to the musical service than just playing the notes?
Dream gig for sure.
Such a great guy and an hell of pro!
Great video. Nice to explore Brendan’s drums and get an insight into the day in the life of a touring drummer. I have been a Smiths/Mozzer fan since I can remember. I always dreamt of playing drums for Morrissey. I have seen a few Smiths tribute acts too and I have always remarked that the drumming wasn’t accurate enough, or the fill was wrong or in the wrong place. Morrissey’s music is so dynamic, it’s no wonder he must be a joy to perform with. Brendan, keep up the good work - you’re blessed that you have this opportunity to work with one of the great song writers of the modern era. 👍🏼🥁
Brendan is a genuine amazing soul and incredible drummer!!!!!!
Dazaaaaa!!!

@@Marco-717 Love you too baby Marco! 😉😘
Great drummer 👌
Great video. Good questions. Cool to see Morrissey is staying to the music, the art and presentation of everything. That's really cool he still is relevant, showing just how good he is. And thanks to Brendan for showing his cool drum set up.
Sounds like a dream gig ❤️🔥
Love this interview. Thank you, Brendan, thank you MD.
This is freaking AWESOME!!! Snare reverb and Bass drum Wow!
Great drummer
Morrissey gas gas done great drummers over the years. Brendon is one of the best. If not the best. This is an brilliant interview. Great insights
That was really interesting. Please keep them coming 👌👍👍
Please keep this video series going...it's really nice to see and very informative.
Great interview and insight to “behind the scenes”.
Very articulate guy, seems to work really hard. Awesome
Great interview. I’m a drummer and fan. Yeah, having your bass drum level present on stage makes a big difference in how you play. You got a great gig and I hope to see a show sometime.
This was great. 👍🏼
The constant changing of front kick drum art,LOL!!!!!! It seems to be a trend that’s popular today. One of the coolest ones I’ve seen this year was Taylor Hawkins drawing CB 700 on the front.I’m pretty sure close to his passing.
Love Morrissey and love Brendan’s style.
Absolute class acts.
This is a fantastic interview. Very enlightening
Morrisey is racist
You are awesome! Saw you at the Orlando show, definitely brought it all together !
Thanks man
Morrissey = GOAT
What a cool guy, he seems to genuinely love the music too which is what you need in a backing band
Wicked
This guy is wicked and mozza is a legend, must be a unreal job
This was really interesting and funny too. Would love to hear Alain Whyte do one of these somehow.
Great drummer ...
These rundowns are great! It’d be cool to know which mics are used too. Keep ‘em coming
Shure Beta 58 and SM91 on kick
Shure SM57’s on snare tops/bottoms
Sennheiser e604’s on toms
AKG 414’s on Overheads
SM81 on hi hat
@Brendan Buckley How many other top notch pros take the time during a tour to answer questions like this?!? Very, very few. You're genuine, and we appreciate you.
@@BrendanBuckleyDrums Can't wait to see you play in Dublin and Liverpool Brendan. Thankyou for this awesome interview and insight. You're an amazing musician and the engine room of the band. 🙂✌️
Alain’s the best there is. Absolute class act in every way.
Brendan is one of the best!
OMG, I thought I was the only one to have Burt Reynolds on my bass drum, although mine is from the Hooper era.
I want to learn more about using sequencing/tracks live.
Matt Walker was great on his recordings and tour...GREAT.
No kit is complete without a "KA-BOOM!" sound.
Can you all ask about mics? That would be awesome. Thanks. If I missed it, I'm sorry.

You looking like a Bruce Lee look walk on my friend. Keep on drumming. 😊
: one of the only drummers that made me feel comfortable within the first few pounds.
He really looks like Tetsuo Sakurai
Oh, you’re THAT guy who needs IEM’s and a wedge, huh? 😂
EDIT: AND a sub…!
Just kidding, I hope you’re doing well. Always good to see what you are up to.
Happy Holidays Mark! #newjersey
Noice! What’s the bass drum size? (maybe I missed it?)
18” deep, 22” diameter
@@BrendanBuckleyDrums Thank you man. Happy holidays to you and yours!
Great drummer but would never have thought he would fit in with Morrisey. nice though
Wow. He is 48 here. Looks much younger.
Alain Whyte was gone from the lineup for a bunch of years but came back like last year didnt he?
What a stressful gig this must be.
Por que
O melhor Baterista de Morrissey é Matt Walker Irene Pontes
Gong drums are absolutely ridiculous
Those toms sounded like something just died when he hit them lol.
Very likely they sound incredibly great when going through the sound system. Could even be heavily triggered up so the acoustic tone pretty much doesn't even matter.
That stack sounds absolutely horrendous... honestly lol
Thats got to be the easiest bag of all time being morriseys drummer
Being Shakira's drummer must be easier.
I imagine he has to be a vegetarian to get the gig.
Must be annoying to only get to play 4 full shows a year because you play for an absolute diva
Nah, what's annoying is trolls who hate constantly on anything and want to destroy artists because you have no kindness and no grace.
Great drummer, too bad Morrisey just walks off stage and rips people off when he wants
right. this kit has probably seen one hour of total playing time on this tour haha. too bad, because the players in the band deserve better
@@iwillnevergetone5 very true. I saw the video of Morrisey walking off 30 mins into a set and the guitarists looked so disappointed. Really sucks
@@Boston84 hopefully Moz will get it together so everyone can just have a good time. the band and the audience, both
I have no respect for Mortisey anymore. I liked the Smiths for a long time and still totally like Johnny Marr because of his incredible song writing and playing skills.
But I have no respect for Mortisey because during the Smiths' lawsuit he tried to take all of the drummer's money as well as the bass player.
Morrissey is manipulative and a selfish traitor. Morrissey said he and Marr should get all the royalties because they wrote the songs. Of course Marr didn't go along with Morrissey on that because Marr has integrity and his band mates were/are still his friends. Morrisey wanted all of their $$ because he is too lazy to work. Since he lost the lawsuit, he now has to work which is why he still tours. So if you're his drummer make sure you watch Morrissey and don't let him snag your $$.
Those drums sound awful on their own. I’m sure once you mix in a bunch of FX and gated Reverb, it’s a monster. But now? These drums stink…
Lmao, this is like the only DW kit I've ever liked the sound of
@@ferd1572 that’s why DW stands for “doesn’t work”…
