To the horror of animal rights activists, the sale of live animals as trinkets is a growing trend in China.
A vendor at Beijing market said "I sell fifty of these a day!"
"I bought one because my child wanted one", a mother explained
The bags are so small that the creatures can barely move inside and critics say they are likely to die within weeks.
The price tag is little more than the cost of a few sweets.
Although animal rights groups have highlighted the cruelty of these living toys, there is no law in China preventing their sale.

I bought two of them in china it was cruel that they did that but I brought them home safely but there was no lid to open them! baby painted turles! I had to grab something sharp to cut it open thankfully the turtles were safe. Theyre living good with me now

This gives me a pretty disturbing picture about the China and Chinese people. As someone who wanted to visit the country one day, I am grossed up and find this disturbing and deranged. I cannot explain how I feel about those poor animals. I also feel the pity for couple of normal people who live there. The way a normal person will see this is simple: deranged country will allow this. Deranged person will sell it, and deranged and evil one will buy it. Sad.

Absolutely disgusting. Animals, living sentient beings, being sold as “toys” like their emotions and feelings are brushed off. These animals are just aware and emotional as we are and they feel pain. Being starved to death and thrown around in an air restricted bag isn’t fun for them. It’s a living hell. I believe people who sell these deserve and eye for an eye situation. Seeings as these animals are being tortured and killed, a life for a life. No living being deserved the torture animals go through day in and day out.
an eye for an eye means that your consequences should be equal to your actions, and torturing animals is not equal to torturing humans. plus, no animal on earth is not as aware as us, nor do they have the ability to feel emotions similar to us
