I’m a 6.7 powerstroke guy but love watching your videos 🤙🏼🇺🇸
Thank man. I always say this, I’m not brand loyal, i pick who or what ever makes the best products 🤙🏼
I have the exact same setup both hardware and tuning and yes I agree, you can definitely feel that the power is reaching the ground. My '19's used to feel a bit spongy and soft. It's definitely locking more solid and putting the power down.
Thank for the video, gave me the confidence to do it myself!
Driveway install...impressive!
love the video just installed my billet vb from revmax on my cummins my accumulator plate was seconds away from exploding lost one 1 bolt spring was just loose so happy I did the vb when I did could've destroyed my 68
Awesome video! Looking into changing mine as well. Also great video in the driveway!
Thanks! 👍
Good video. I was going to put a kit in my 68 RFE valve body couple of weeks ago and found my channel plate cracked also. Yours looks good compared to mine - it looks like a windshield that someone hit with a hammer. Pulled a few of the bolts out in the cracked area and the cracks go all way thru the plate. Now I am waiting on a complete valve body. My truck only has 80K on it. It is fully deleted, but I drive it pretty easy. I was shocked how bad the plate looked. This is something anyone with a 68 RFE needs to look at sooner than later.
Yeah i was shocked as well. I wish i would’ve done it sooner. Very happy with this mod.
Great Video! Nice job!
in the pass i use a plastic bottle using the bottom part same drill size use to catch the fluid. I'm going to replace the solenoid regardless. worry free. great video
Great video I believe my VB is going out. I have 106k on the clock and I got her deleted at 95k miles. I wished I’ve known sooner about the VB I got my transmission fluid changed around 70k.
Excellent info. You really helped me negotiate the purchase of a 2019 cummins.
Nice video...gonna order some so I can change it out...great content...👍🏾
Great informative video ...thank you !
Awesome vid man keep up the good work 👍🏼
Thanks man i appreciate that.
Just got a 2012 6.7 cummins, installed a BD trans pan and I saw a ton of hair line cracks 10x worse then yours. Will be doing a valve body upgrade when the wallet allows.
Appreciate the video well done!
The lines are markings from the casting process then it gets milled on the mating surface
Installed mine today with a Mag-Hytec pan. Pro tip...make absolutely certain that both your truck and, more importantly, the valve body are in "PARK" before you reassemble. Ask me how I know this. Fortunately, nothing was damaged.
So...installed my new tunes and hit the road. Light throttle so far. I have to say that I don't feel much of a difference between this VB and the stock one, but I've only put 50 miles on it so far. Yeah, there is a learning process and some people have said it only gets better with time. We shall see. I still get the huge shift flairs and all the other irritating anomalies of a 68RFE.
I'll give it some time and see how it goes.
You need to update your transmission tune to take advantage of the higher line pressure allowed by the aftermarket valve body.
Very informative
Installing that Revmax thermal bypass valve is like removing the thermostat in your engine. I’d go with the Mishimoto bypass valve instead. It lowers temps 10 degrees but allows your trans to warm up. It’s very important if you live in freezing climates.
The reason i went with the revmax is because it removes the thermostat. If that fails your trans will overheat and eat itself alive. I live in Oklahoma it’s fairly warm 10 months out of the year. I think she will be alright.
you didnt wanna upgrade the accumulator pistons why you had it out? good video man. your stuff always helps me out.
they are already upgraded billet accumulator pistons with the revmax valve body. She shifts great 2 years later and i have zero complaints. She shift better the more you push her.
Appreciate the video. Very well done. On the valve body, did you go with the manual lock up?
Thanks man. And there is no manual lock up. It’s just my daily driver.
Thanks for the Video. I'm in Australia, the RAM 2500 6.7 are fairly new here in a commercial way. As a result there is not much in the way of an experienced knowledge base here. Mine is an MY18 68RFE. Low K's towing full time. From all accounts this is the fail point of the whole truck, the trans. I'm talking with Revmax now about getting the parts over to me in Oz. Aside form install guide by you, I'm also running RaceMe tuner, the same as yours ??? by the look. I've sent a PM via messenger to you, if that's you I've found regards tuner advise and tunes. Regards.
Hey mate did they get back to you? I’m also in aust
@@durryold1 yes mate. Revmax parts here and due to install. This week. Been away.
Not really related to your trans but, what turbo are you running on your truck? Your EGT's are much lower than mine. Good video BTW, Like and subed.
Thanks Dan I appreciate the support. It’s a Borg Warner S467.7 she spoils pretty quick on stock fuel.
How are you liking the valve body install? I'm thinking about doing it as well. Thanks
I got about 13 quarts in mine and I am just below that second hole. But that thing is awesome it shifts so smooth and the thermal bypass sucked actually. I am re learning it with alpha obdII BUT on a test drive wow big difference
How is the EGT with the new valve body is it more or less?
What size pan di you use? How many quarts total after the swap?
Nice video to bad they don't have anything like that for the AS69RC... I noticed 900 on the EGT is that about normal for not towing?
It’s hotter than hell right now here as well and it’s normally in the 600-900 range when I’m driving it. Sometime she will get up to 1100 when I’m getting on it.
Im sorry I didnt mention this in my video, but i did do a trans relearn when i uploaded the transmission tuning file. Sorry for not addressing this in the video back when I made it.
How is the transmission pan gasket holding up? Any leaks, and did you use any other sealant with it?
Haven’t had a drop come out of it (knocking on wood) and it’s just the pan gasket!
hey what pillar mount is that for the display?
Do you need new tunes with this install or can you run the stock_D4.ECM tune
Did you do a relearn process on the tranny with a scanner tool or just shift through the gears? Thanks.
I was wondering Where did you purchase the sump filter extension or did it come in the revmax kit
It came with the valve body.
Make another video in a week or so with review on how you like it.
I’m going to get some miles on her and then I’ll do a review.
9:01 this is normal for cast aluminum.
also. i see its been about two years since you done this? how has it done since then?
So the VB comes ready to go? Just swap the solenoid pack...?, My ride has a 144k on it , doing this upgrade makes perfect sense, iam just a bit nervous because whoever had the truck before me totally neglected the trans, not serviced once til I got it at 142k.... 😬 Yikes! Thanks for the video, great job man.
Yeah man it’s a quick swap and put your old solenoid pack on and you should be good to go. Recommend a trans relearn and bumping up the line pressure to 225-250 PSI.
Good video. Too bad the music blasting in the background screwed it up.
So it took 12 quarts total to fill it
Do you need tuning when you install this?
Where can I find that extension for the filter... I can't find it anywhere
Noticed ur check engine light was on. Was it due to valve body issues? If so did it turn off after part was changed
No it was on for my crank case pressure sensor. It’s off now.
How much oil did you end up putting back in ? I just got to my 12th quart and still not registering on the dip stick!
This was a while ago but i think it was 12 quarts.
Did the Revmax valve body come with the pan filter billet extension, or did you have to buy that separate?
i bought it all separate.
Who does your tuning on your mm3
I noticed your shift from 5th to 6th gear seemed to sound like a slip. I just got the rev max vb installed last week and mine is now do the same thing from 5-6 and never did that before. Does that shift ever improve the more you drive it? Thanks
It doesn’t feel like a slip to me. But one of the good and bad things about the 68RFE, is that it’s a constantly learning transmission. I noticed the hard the acceleration the smoother and more crisp the shifts seem to be. Hopefully this helps man.
@@okc_garage I’m noticing it’s getting better the more I drive. I’ve put on about 1000 miles since I posted my last comment and it has totally changed as far as shift feel, and timing.
It is normal and by design to protect the hard parts during shifting.....
ua-cam.com/video/IGa32SleUu0/v-deo.html
Did you do the TCM relearn?
Did the kit you got come with the filters or the gasket and not the paper gasket but rubberized one???TIA
It didn’t come with it but i ordered new filters before i installed it.
Do you have to do a different tuning once you put the new valve body on it? Or do I need a transmission tune? Or just take out old put in new and that’s it?
would recommend trans tuning to up your line pressure to 225psi.
How did you get away without a quick relearn? I’m about to install mine but Rev Max says it has to have a quick relearn or it will burn it up.
i didnt do one right away but about a week after I did. Shes still holding strong.
Does the tunner do the quick learn process? I'm about to do the same install. 2 years later if you have the rig still. How is the transmission holding up?
You would have to reload your tunes on to the truck so it goes into a relearn. If you can get a hold of your tuner ask them to raise your line pressure to 225-250 psi. The trans shifted a lot smoother under hard acceleration.
Do you need a tune to do this? I have the same equipment and about to install them on my 2017 2500. Was curious if I need to tune before, or after?
You will need a tune to up the line pressure.
That channel plate looks the same the day you took it out as the day it rolled off the lot. That’s just how cast aluminum looks. Also with your thermal bypass delete now your trans won’t reach operating temp
After further research i understand that. The thermal bypass was just preventive. It takes a little longer to warm up but she does warm up. She doesn’t get nearly as warm as she once did.
@@okc_garage did you have overheating trans issues before? Optimal trans operating temps are in the 170-180 range. What do you see now? 140-150?
@@CHILLHP i haven’t monitored it lately but i will next time and let you know. I wana say 150-160 range. If those thermostats seize and don’t open you will fry the trans. That’s why alot of people do them.
6" front and back? Looks like has the same rake as stock, which is good.
Those "37's" were really 37" or more like 36" probably?
I have 17 in the Luxury Brown. Just put "37x12.50" on the stock 18" wheels and stock suspension. They're barely over 36" at max 65psi. And good thing, as it so slightly rubs the known places. I could literally daily just as is, not hurting anything. The fender can be slightly pulled back no cutting, and leave only the front track bar rub at rarest occasions.
I need this, I got 95k miles deleted an tuned trans tuned also an having problems is always in the back of my head. What's your gear ratio?
I’m running a set of 4.30s.
My 66RFE has the same problems, I don't see anything for my gas engine transmission from RevMax...ideas?
Don’t have any experience with those. Sorry about that.
shift flare can be corrected with a low stall converter
That will be done before to long.
@@okc_garage I just did revmax low stall converter, billet flex plate, billet input shaft, and the revmax 550 trans. shift are smooth, firm, and no flare. 😀👍
Or just different tuning. I'm using CTT tuning which unlocks before shift but feels just as good as locked shifts.
I had Calibratedpower before which had locked shifts and absolutely no flare, but you run the risk of snapping the input shaft lol.
I have revmax ultra low tc. I still have shift flare very similar to okc 6.7. I does NOT cure it
@@fozzybear9114 it is normal and you want it to "Flare" for lack of a better term. It's protecting the hard parts .... ua-cam.com/video/IGa32SleUu0/v-deo.html
what other upgrade you going to do to the transmission or you going to wait to get a new transmission? im fighting my self weather to upgrade the transmission or to just get rid of the truck before the transmission brakes... thanks in advance.
That’s a tough question. If you have higher mileage I’d just get a new trans. I’m low mileage. Just hit 37k. I plan on doing a revmax torque converter and a billet flex plate next and just leaving it at that. If and when she goes I’m still up in the air about what i will do. I have a long time (hopefully) before i have to make that decision.
@@okc_garage im hitting around 130k miles. i tought on getting revmax valve body and torque converter and just waited out until it brake. i have a 3500 swd with s465 turbo
@@okc_garage I got the whole set up to build rev Max’s 850 signature series years back. Switched out the input shaft, flex plate, stage 5 torque converter, I’m talking the whole 9 yards. Haven’t had a chance to get it tuned since it was built. Had to stop throwing money into the truck for awhile. Just lost reverse in it 2 days ago. All the forward gears work. But when I put it in reverse it’s just like being in neutral.
Yo…just found this by random…fellow Cummins bro in the 405
Nice. I’m down in moore.
Did you get any transmission codes after you did all the work before starting it?
I didn’t have any codes at all.
I got the p0750 solenoid pack and p0706 range, I ended up just deleting the codes and triple checked everything and got the fluid level good and did quick relearn, and drove around the block a few times, shifting is nice until i try to stop, it doesnt want to down shift to 1st until actually come to a stop, was that normal for you when the trans is trying to relearn the shift points. Codes never came back on.
I have a stock 2017 on 35's. I've just bought all the stuff to do a complete delete and tune. Should I take the plunge and do this mod first before doing all this?
You should be fine to delete and tune. But i would highly recommend doing this mod sooner than later.
Did you buy the billet vb that is 995$? What does manual lockup give you for dbl the price? Ability to tune your lock ups?
Yeah i got the billet VB with out manual lock up. It gives you the ability to lock up the Torque converter manually i believe. When i bought my VB the option wasn’t available at the time. And i wouldn’t have purchased it anyway.
@@okc_garage ok. Good. Im gonna go this route. I noticed in your vid that shift flare was still there. But that was with old tunes. I like idea of clutches not slipping as much with raised line preasure. Are you happy with purchase? Did you see tranny temps come down with bigger pan and therm bypass? Im at 165 always on tranny temp
Is everything still good. About to do this myself this weekend. Ats billet
Everything’s great. Zero complaints, and still highly recommend it. Wish i would’ve done it sooner.
I have heard that you need to do a transmission relearn with a scan tool, or the clutches can get extra wear as it relearns the slow way. Have you heard that?
Correct you want to do a relearn as soon as you install it to get the clutch volume index’s reset.
Your supposed to get a retune from your tuner or it won't work right
Does anyone know how to do this on an edge tuner? I got a 2012 ram 3500 with 217k on it and hoping it helps. Won't stay locked in 6th and have to let off pedal locked in 5th to get it to shift to 6th
Are you in the wwp?
Does the Remax valve body require trans relearning or tuning
Yes sir it does. I’m sorry i didn’t mention that in the video.
Was the 1.5 gallons of atf enough for that deep pan?
It was more than enough. I still have about half a gallon in the garage i didn’t use.
@@okc_garage I appreciate the response ✊🏼
How’s the Valvebody upgrade , worth it ?
It’s holding up great my trans tune makes the shift seem less when your getting on it.
Did you unhook your batt cables while you install that valve body?
No but i would recommend a trans re learn after you install it.
@@okc_garage, ---- Thats a big 10-4
Hey also I was watching one of your latest videos and you were talking about how you were pretty much done with your truck I had a suggestion for your truck how about some traction bars ?
Not for traction but to keep your rear end stable they look pretty cool too
@@okc_garage how did you put the truck in quick learn? I got the valve body but I have been trying to find a tuner that has the function or a scan tool to use to perform the quick learn.
Did you do a trans relearn with a scan tool ?
I did do a trans relearn with a re tune. Wish i would’ve mentioned that in the video.
What's the downside to the bypass? There must be a reason for the thermostat?
Thermostat let’s your fluid warm up faster. If it fails your trans may overheat and destroy itself. It was just a preventative mod for me.
I’m at 80k miles with optimal welding tunes and trans tune would love to do this upgrade to tighten up the shifts what was the cost of the kit you got
Valve body billet filter adapter and trans pan with new filters was around $1500
I got no shifting in gears and got a code for po 765 selenoid circuit what’s the deal
You mentioned your check engine light which code you have?
It was for my crank case pressure sensor. I have since switched tuning companies and don’t have any check engine lights. 👌🏼
I have a p0740 code tcc out of range
Who did u switch too? And do u still utilize the MM3?
Hey boss do I need to do the re learn whit a scanner ??
yes.
though its an easy rebuild,, the 68RFE should never have been put in the diesel...all Chrysler had to do was make a 45 -- 545RFE bigger but they couldn't even do that right. it has a whole new set of its own problems.casting are crap on the case too.... the new transmissions have much better casting..
How long does it take for the 68 to warm up with the bypass delete now
I haven’t really timed it but if I had to guess it all depends on your driving conditions. She drives pretty cool doing city driving.
@@okc_garage how do you like the valvebody? Does it work well? Noticeable?
@@joshgarvens8743 the shifts are seem less and smooth when you are getting on it. I love it.
@@okc_garage thanks! I’ll snag one!
Can you still see a big difference since installing tranny parts?
It shifts a lot smoother and more crisp with the raised lined pressure.
P0740?
where did you get your tuning from?
Double R diesel. I’d recommend CTT tuning with Ezlynk though. I’ll be switching to that before to long.
@@okc_garage thanks
@@okc_garage hey is there a reason for ditching the DRD tune? I’m actually in talks with him and thinking ok going that route since I already have the Raceme Ultra. It’s just so many hoops to jump through getting custom tunes.
@@playactionjackson918 pm me on Instagram
Did you have to do a relearn?
Yes you should. I didnt right away but did it about a week later. Nothing bad happened. But I was learning as I went.
@@okc_garage how do you re learn it?
I wondering if you did a quick learn
I did because i updated the line pressure and the tune.
Cel at first ride gone at 2nd ride???
I had to get a tune revision to raise trans line pressure. The CEL was for a crank case sensor i had removed. Tuner tuned it out. That’s why there not a light anymore.
TCM tuned?
It is. Got the line pressure upped to 225 psi.
@@okc_garage Who tuned it? Did you use the revmax tcm tune?
Any issues since install?
None. She ran so much better. And the shifts were clean and crisp when you were getting on it.
@@okc_garage I just bought a ram CTD so getting a list of nice to do mods to extend the life. I haven't seen much for the 21s as far as performance valve bodies
Did he just say she feels alot tighter lol
🤣🤣🤣 i knew someone was going to catch that lol.
So was it worth it?
Absolutely!!! Wish i would’ve done this way earlier.
@@okc_garage yea I done the thermal bypass upgrade on the 17. Didn’t do the valve body though
Vacuum fluid extractor got 99% of my fuid out, no drilling......
replacing that sump seal gasket is definitely NOT worth the effort, that seal will last for 500k miles and never be a problem, digging that thing out with tools is a set of risks that far outweigh any benefit.
Will void my warranty
You didn’t do a quick learn ?
Nope. She’s driving pretty good. The 68 is a revolving transmission that’s constantly learning your driving habits. Didn’t do a relearn when i re geared either.
That's odd i was told if i change my vb i had to do a relearn as well?
@@nicholasjoly4816 that's what I was told a well. I have the valve body but waiting to install it until I find a tuner that has the function or borrow a scan tool.
