I've got an 8 year old 130 proof store pick that destroys the A124 for me. I'm going to let A124 to sit for a month or 2 and see if it changes for me.
This makes since. I have had some fantastic private barrel Ecbps. Honestly, some of the best ecbps i have tasted.

I will disagree with your statement that stagg is the best value in bourbon. ECBP easily is (for now).
If both are sitting on a shelf, stagg at $55 and ecpb at $90... you are telling me you are buying the ECBP?
IDK, I love me some ecbp, but stagg at MSRP is almost impossible to beat.

@@yourdrinkingbuddyOh that's the disconnect between us. I can get ECBP in my area all day for $70-75 and recently I was getting them for $60 out the door. Stagg is $175+ every where here.

There are multiple "releases" of Jack and Old Forester SBBP's too... though not structured like the ones you mentioned... just on account of being Single Barrels.

Just picked up an A124 in Indiana today! Literally taking my first sip right now. Not as smooth or complex as the C923 but man does it pack a punch of flavor

Finally got a pour of C923 around here... Went home and tried C922 to compare. Definitely a big difference, with C923 being far better... Is it worth the $250-300 I'm seeing asked for bottles online now? No.... but I would say it was Stagg Jr/Cellar aged quality... and those sell in that same price range... so maybe the market is just more spendy than I am. At $75, it was a crazy good bottle... but it sold out instantly in my state and I've never seen a bottle in person before last night.
The hype was wild on that one. But it did deliver. As you say, it is absolutely in the Stagg/Cellar aged quality range.

I haven't tried the C923, but I personally liked the A124 myself.

They used up all their old barrels for the c923 batch, my guess is that the C batches will be a higher age more allocated batch than the A and B
This is a great theory. They only have enough barrels to do one older release per year.
C922 was the best of that year and c920 was too. I dont remember the 21 batches, as I only had each once.

ECBP is always a buy for me, but I probably wouldn’t rush out to get this one or buy a back up. I’m more bummed about the proof than the age. 10 yr 9 months is the youngest, so there is still some good age on the juice. Cheers DB
I agree. It has to have some older juice in the blend. There is definitely some drying tanic oak. But yeah 119 is low for ecbp.

We the people have been spoiled rotten with ALL of these ECBP’s… I don’t know of any other widely available whiskey with a 10+yr age statement at barrel strength from a major Kentucky distillery UNDER a 100 bucks.
I love that there is some variation between batches, they always keep you coming back for more.
I agree. I have no problem with a wild young one, especially if they can give us an older C batch that I will DEFINITELY buy.

Huh was on the fence about A124 the tasting notes sounds good but I'm not of fan of dry stuff.

Russell's 13 would certainly qualify as a yearly barrel proof release. I should gave mentioned that one. Russell's Single Barrel isnt barrel proof. Proofed down to 110.

That PPLD pick is a 10yr BTW. They also have a lower 124ish proof 9yr that I haven't tried. I really liked that137.4 pick, but the C923 is on a different level for me.
When I realized it was almost 140 proof but drank around 105, I realized it was special. The batched releases are just great as well. And as you put it C923 is totally on another level. You are right there.
