This is my Whiskey of the year so far & I have two bottles of Stagg 22A & a bottle of Jack 12. So damn good.
The C923 beat out EHTBP, Stagg and OF Single Barrel Barrel Strength in a blind I did with some friends a couple weeks ago.

Finally opened my ECBP C923 a23 last night. Wow really good. Wish I would have bought a 2nd bottle back in 2023. The proof is a proof punch in the face but the flavors are amazing. When you're done smell your glass as well. You'll really be able to nose the flavors.
I picked up a back up bottle of ECBP C923 at Costco for $59.95
Just scored a bottle of this here in VA. Some how lucked out and found it 2 days after an allocation drop. Drove an hour to get it. Can't wait to pop it open and try it

I thought you boyz would enjoy it but 3 things I would like to add. 1 rumor is they have stocks of 14 and 15 year old barrels in this blend but havent heard that from a reliable source yet. 2 this bottle gets so much better over time #Yummy . 3 how did you all forget the M10 bourbon for top five this year lol.
This is the best bottle I’ve had in a LONG time. Knowing this’ll likely be better than anything else I’ll find this year, I’ll be buying only this C923 for the rest of the year. Great video!

You guys touched on a great idea for your show. Ditch those Blue Runs and build a small podium (1 to 5) and a label underneath ("2024 Bottle of the Year"). And as you go through 2024, place\move\update the podium with your current "Bottle of the Year" standings.

this year has been crazy good with the bourbon releases.
I still have a B520 bottle, never did think much of it, so was skeptical when these rave C923 reviews started coming in. Finally got to try some at a friend’s house, and it really is delicious. I’d even say it’s special. Maybe best 130+ proof bourbon ever?
I’ve still got an unopened b519. Heard it’s really good and has notes like popcorn on the palate. Never tried the 2020 bottles.

Heaven Hill this year has killed it. The Larceny B523 and EC C923 to of the best releases this year

I blinded 22A and ECBP C923 and it really is neck and neck between those two for me. Surprisingly similar profiles given the age discrepancy. Regardless I think both of those are in my top 5 and idc about the expected release date of 22A because it didn’t hit my market until this month.

Still haven’t been able to find a C23. Most places that usually have ECBP around here still have B23 on the shelves. Pretty sure they are trying to get rid of that before they put out the C.

I liked A123 and B523. I didnt think it was bad at all. Do the stand up to the 2020 releases? No, but that doesn't make them bad. I am looking forward to C923.

I'm really against overpaying for bourbon but this is one of the few that I think is worth it if that's the cheapest you can find in your area

All three from 2018 were great and equal in my eyes. Different but each the caliber of one another. Same for 2017 2019 and 2020. 2021 we started seeing a decrease in how exceptional each batch was. 2022 even more . C923 is the first and only 13+ yr age stated ecbp still.
I think there is significant variety in each release. Just finished a bottle of B522 and it may have been the best ECBP I’ve ever had. I’ve had others in the same release that we’re not at all remarkable.

Just tried this last night, and I’m not quite there with the hype. The nose is great, and flavors are bold, but it drinks every bit of that 133 proof IMO. And I had it after Stagg 22a, which drinks way below its proof. Hoping it’s just a neck pour, maybe it will mellow out a bit

@@RustyShakleford01 Here in Memphis stuff used to be extremely hard to find. And when it was made available it was gone very quick. It's gotten a better this year but you still usually have to act fast. In this instance a store posted on instagram last Friday that they had a good haul. I couldn't make it there until today. So yeah it's kind of weird that a hyped bottle like this sat around for 3 days.
On the back of the bottle, what were the first 3 characters? A22 or A23? Apparently the A23 is legit a best whiskey of the year contender while the A22 bottles are meh. Thoughts?
Unless you drink or rate whiskeys professionally, 99% of the people who try the two batches will not be able to tell the difference. It's that small. Trust me, I've tried them both. They are both phenomenal..

From a Southern California perspective - ECBP is the one top notch bourbon you can reliably find at suggested retail. I picked up a bottle today at a mid size chain for $70. I’m just a whiskey guy with no significant connections or liquor store chums. I rarely see Stagg and when I do it’s minimum $250. Same with the Jack Daniels special stuff. Russell’s 13 is $300+. So it’s a no brainer for me. I agree that the C batches are the most consistent for whatever reason.
Note the buy today was C923.
I like the "B" batches and will occasionally pick up another release that gets "rave" reviews. Last one was C922, and the hype on C923 makes it even harder to find.

compared with C batches since 2020, C920 ,is a butterscotch bomb! So great and then very close behind is the C923. Both great bottles

C920 beat the C923 in a few blinds with different people. There is too much wood and it's very dry. 920 wins.

EC followed up one of their worst BP's with one of their best.
I have a case of this, really great to have and one that I knew I'd want to taste against a lot of other things.
No, it’s not! It’s good, but the reality is almost none of us could distinguish it from one of the previous six batches that have come out. everyone’s being a homer simply parroting all the accolades it’s getting….and people fawning all over this bottle, simply based on the age statement. Come to my house and I’ll pour a blind of several different batches…..with high certainty no one CONFIDENTLY picks the C923 successfully.
I mean with high certainty I can tell you which is the C batch if you pour A,B, and C923.

No way this comes close to 13th Colony for bourbon of the year. Sean has it right, top 10 probably.
Disagree for a number of reasons. 13th Colony DO has been super polarizing. ECPB C923 is consistently given high marks by all bourbon drinkers.

Totally. It’s amazing how such a large swath of the Bourbon community simply jumps on the bandwagon and parrots anything they see in UA-cam and online. And once they get a bottle of their own, they have to affirm that they fit in with the crowd falling over themselves about this bottle. It’s ridiculous as so few people have a sophisticated enough pallet to separate the difference between so many different batches out there.
I Mean we don't make any money if someone buys this bottle. We also just re-reviwed a bottle because we had it blind and liked it. It was a lot better than the batch we had bought previously. I can also tell you we didn't watch a single review of this bottle before reviewing it. Idk who we're "parroting", but can confirm our thoughts are our own. Also hear me out, if a few reviewers all like it, maybe it's just good? No one complains if we jack off a bottle of GTS for 12 minutes, but if we say ECBP is good it's just for hype for the age statement. Wild since we just absolutely hated the the A and B batch. GTFO of here with this shit

All you gotta do is look at all the orgasmic comments here, and any number of places about this batch. I grant it’s good but people are drinking with their eyes and their ears most of the time. If I put a C923 label on a decent but less than remarkable batch of EC that was in the 130 proof territory, the majority of same people in the comments here (and other social media boards) would think it’s incredible.
