An idea for a quick one-off (if your palate needs a brief holiday break from the tourney) - how about a blind to pick the best bourbon to go with eggnog? Nothing over $35 a bottle...or maybe $40...or $50. Regardless, something decent...*real* decent maybe, but still acceptable as a mixer for that festive holiday sludge...of which I am a huge fan btw. 👍🥃🎅

Picked up Green River full proof for $60 and at first really liked the nose. Few days into the bottle I’m really liking this bottle and the sip is very nice. 🍻

We're quite a bit different from each other. Ii would've immediately stripped all of my clothes off and wrung them out over my empty glass. I picked up this bottle yesterday now I'm not sure I'll crack it open, after seeing this. Thanks for your analysis, you're a very knowledgable whiskey guy. Yea a new sub!

We appreciate the honest review. As far as staying in touch, any new products we get we will send for another review. I like how you revisited Bloodlines and spoke of it after Private Stock. Usually when someone tastes Private Stock, they don't talk about others. You're one of many that are putting Private Stock in for whiskey of the year. If they have a non-allocated class, we have it locked up. I firmly believe that.

I got so many recommendations for that Balcones Cataleja so I picked one up while in Texas, and I don’t like it at all. Neither did any of my friends who I shared it with. I don’t think it’s tainted in any way, it doesn’t taste off to that degree. It has a very strong note to me of strawberry jello, which is something that I HATE. One friend did perplex me by saying he thought it tasted like nickels, which I think is the same note I’m getting as jello but it’s not coming across that way to me. It’s a huge bummer because I’m generally an American single malt fanboy, but I prefer Balcones’s $40 Lineage bottle over this. Maybe I just don’t like a sherry bomb to that degree. I just wonder what gives, everything I’d ever heard was that the Cataleja was in “best ASM ever created” territory

finally got a GR FP and I doubt it's a whiskey of the year contender, but is some damn solid whiskey for $50. I was on the fence for GR bourbon but the FP is another animal.

That Frey Ranch is fantastic! That four grain is a nonstop flavor journey.

Frankly I'd prefer to take the combined price of the 3 bottles shown and invest it in W.T. 101. I can drink more and possibly never run out. At least in the near term. No sacrificing quality for price here. Tha "Turk" is always good, acceptable & accessible. Money well spent!

I love the Henry McKenna 10yr single barrel bottle in bond. My favorite but i can't afford it anymore. Was $37 but now its $82. We can't find Buffalo Trace in Arkansas. But im not gonna to drink a 90 proof to replace a 100 proof. My regular sipper is Evan Williams Bottle in Bond. To me it's as good as many expensive bourbons.

Got my George t Stagg, eagle rare 17 and Thomas H handy this year from my local kroger just a few days ago… $149 for the the stagg and the eagle rare and $109 for the handy. That’s all they got from the BTAC lineup or I woulda bought the others too. lol. I was lucky, they only got 3 of each.

I’ve had Handy and GTS. Handy was memorable. I’m just not a fan of high proof weaters. At all.

I can recommend Jacob's Pardon B3, an 18 year 142.7 proof American Light Whiskey as a possible GTS alternative. The Hooten Young Jack Carr 16 year 125 proof is also a banger. Lastly, the National Barrel Company 33 year 149.66 proof Canadian Whiskey is no slouch either. Cheers!
