It was SO clear why it went wrong and how to fix it because of your explanation. The little things like that can trip up a noobie so easily so I think its great you pay close attention to stuff like that. Thanks a million.

If anyone has problem mirroring the leg and arm. After Ctrl + A and setting rotation. Shift + D, X to drag it along and when you press 'S' also press "x-1" and it should mirror . (You can use X,Z,Y axis -1 to mirror also.)

I love TF2 and after using a tool in GMOD to put on cosmetics I realized something.
They separate the torso, arms, legs and head to separate objects so they can be replaced with a different model for a cosmetic.
I would love a tutorial on this. To for example have one part of the torso whole, and another where it's blown open. Giving the ability to switch the two in game when hit with a rocket or a headshort.
The way they deal with headshots is a little funny. They shrink the head to a dot and add a separate model of a cut off neck on top. Or just leave the weird shrunken part as it is.
Making a whole model is great. But what about when you have multiple pants, chains and other clothing accessories to one model? Or cutting their arm off.
And they have to model and rig it all so it's connected somehow so the arm doesn't separate from the shoulder in some animation glitch but being connected AND being able to switch it out instantly when needed..

For a while now I have been wanting to make my own video game but I needed to know code and how to model, so I spent probably a month trying to make something good but I never used a character turn around and since I have been learning blender for a month or two I am slightly more advanced but this helped a lot to get me started on the art aspect of the game. My suggestion for future videos is a way to save and reuse animations in different projects reliably, I haven't seen much stuff about this.
And thanks for your tutorials, practicing this low poly modelling is making me lose the fear about Blender. It made me realize that there's in fact a bunch of folks who make very pretty art with simple models which is a relief because with more complex stuff my actual computer would explode HAHA.
The thing is I can confidently practice and refine my skill little by little and when I get a new and more powerful PC I'll be ready for the next level. I have used the excuse of "my PC is crap" in the past but now I see this "limitation" as positive as it motivates me to be creative.

Grant, I've a general modeling question, and forgive me if I get the terminology wrong -- I've just started learning 3d....: All the parts that get merged, i.e. the neck with the head, do the hidden areas still retain their geometry, i.e. do they still add to the overall poly count, or are they really merged with each other?

@@MikeHalk100 it depends how you merge them. But generally yes they are still counted
