If you were a teenager at the time of the release of this song, I think there's not a whole lot more that can wrap up the 90's for us than these kinds of songs. There wasnt music before it,nor after the 90s that had such an affect on who you became. Maybe I'm just stuck in that time frame in my head, but I dont think so. The 90's... imho, best decade ever.

This is one of the late-golden period Pumpkins very best. It fits Corgan's general motif, dark, slightly sinister, etc. It's a musically superior representative of a late 90s alt/electronica hybrid. This should be soundtrack for an Edgar Allan Poe reading, not Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "Hey Batman! ICE to meet you!"

I only wish we got to hear jimmy chamberlain on this, this drummer is wayyyy too reliant on the snare to fill in the gaps of his playing... he sounds like he should be playing in a drum circle, not the pumpkins.

    Till the end times begin
Is it bright where you are
    Have the people changed
Does it make you happy you're so strange
And in your darkest hour, I hold secrets flame
You can watch the world devoured in it's pain
    Strange

    The replays run for you
Unhook my lights to peek behind the flash
    For I am crystal chrome
    I am shatter dome
I am Kremlin king of angels avenged

Songs from movie soundtracks ride the success of the film; it almost doesn't matter if the song is any good or not. I mean, there's been some woeful songs that have sold millions from being off a hugely successful movie. Unfortunately, Batman + Robin was a bad movie and bombed at the box office, so this excellent track got lost.

For example: this version of this song compared to the slower, darker version used for The Watchmen trailer; or Nine Inch Nails version of Hurt, compared to Johnny Cash's cover; or Johnny Cash's version of Ring Of Fire, compared to Wall Of Voodoo's slower, darker live cover version, from their Ugly Americans In Australia live album.

It was the last song they wrote for Saimese Dream, and Billy Corgan didn't have one singular idea for the song but compiled a bunch of one-liners and stuff that he came up with during the writing of the album that he didn't have anything else to go with, and the result is... well, one of the best SP songs to date.

I had watched this movie for the time (on t.v.) around late 1990's. Batman Forever was the first Batman movie i had introduced to my kid sister back in 1995. We were both hooked on U2 HM, TM, KM, KM. When Batman and Robin came to theatres, she went to watch it with friends and loved it so. In the past months, she had introduced this movie to the eldest of her two young daughters (ages 6 and 3), And she loved it. So Heartwarming to see the legacy of Batman move on from one generation to the next, even in the form of older movies.

    The guns of love disastrous
    A shadow lies amongst you
    To defy the future cast

You can watch the world devour in its pain. This so philosophic and real when someone has lost its world. That´ s Batman. Only Billy Corgan could understand that and write it!

amazing song, and an extraordinary music video -- not just part of it because of the bassist girl (D'arcy Wretzky) ... but likewise comes a great deal of (visual) beauty from the strange chemistry of the "analogous" faces of Corgan and Wretzky... to which the femininity of guitarist James Iha adds even more...
floating in itself is a huge device too in this video... and luckily we don't have to see very much of the movie (which is just crap in my op)
nevertheless, if I only heard this song, without MTV or YT, without video, without screens, in complete darkness, it would still be a mind-blowing experience...
