Dvds,Godzilla 1984,kong 2005 and tons of 2010s and 2000s pop and rock music. Abba,train,the Beatles,Micheal Jackson, Brittney spears,Avril Lavigne ,Miley Cyrus,Disney and definitely no cocomelon and adults acting as kids. This generation went from TVs shows to independent cringe UA-cam kids channels. It kinda sad😭😭😭

Thank mother in Christ I graduated 2 years before the pandemic started. I was able to finish school well and not have to be online like all the time for school stuff. I did take an online community college during the pandemic, but I was able to do everything on my own time and not have to attend stupid dumb Zoom meetings.

Same, I'm glad I got to experience at least a little time before internet and iPhones became required. I may have hated my childhood, but at least I got to do kid things before being forced to understand things more mature than my age, because all these kids being exposed to the internet since birth is going to have negative consequences for them, and I feel guilty I can't change that for them. I don't even want to imagine the depression and suicide rates in our future. No action, good or bad, goes without consequences unfortunately. If we thought the nihilism, cynicism, and apathy to everything was bad for gen Z and Millennials, imagine never being off the internet, never being able to truly being able to feel that detachment emptiness being online all the time causes, or never even knowing anything but that. I wouldn't wish to be them. I used to hate being born when I was, but I got lucky honestly, being born when I was, even if I'm always going to have trauma from it, I got things they won't, because the world is just going to get worse and worse, and more impossible to survive in, and I at least have memories when it wasn't so scary to be alive all the time. And unfortunately most of the people that are having kids are exactly the ones who shouldn't be, because the ones who aren't going to have kids, or don't have them are self aware enough to know they can't be a good parent, or at least in a healthy enough mind space to realize it's a bad idea when most people today can barely survive by themselves.

I am a late Boomer, born in 1962 ( yeah, I could be your mom or grandmother ), every generation, since the beginning of humanity, had children who mocked their parents, gently or cruelly, and I am sure my late parents, who were from the Silent Generation ( born in the mid to late thirties ) did this to their folks and their peers, the cycle will never be broken, at least, until the end of time.

I'm ngl, this made me truly appreciate and realize the cultural differences between early Gen Z and later Gen Z. As a 2002 baby I have never done any of these, but younger gen zers absolutely do. I have said "It's the [blank] for me", and like, I know this is exaggerated for comedy reasons, but I feel like I'm not alone here, right? We're like the Gen X between Baby Boomers and Millenials.
You're not alone, but you're not really the Gen X between Boomers and Millennials, you're Gen is going through the same thing Millennials did where there's like 2 different waves (1st wave that were kids without Internet and got dial up around middle school and cell phones and social media more towards college, and 2nd wave that never lived without Internet, cell phones, and social media at all as an example). Despite being in the same gen, elder Millennials and younger Millennials are quite different bc of the tech differences each was raised with. Things keep changing so fast now it seems like Gen Z might have an elder and younger split in their generation as well (whereas Boomers spanned a huge chunk of time, but didn't seem to have as big a difference between the earliest born of that gen and the last).
which is why generational divides are kinda silly. the oldest gen alpha are like teenagers, and the youngest aren’t even born yet. of course people in a 15 year age range are gonna be very different, especially with how quickly our world changes now.

Thank mother in Christ I graduated 2 years before the pandemic started. I was able to finish school well and not have to be online like all the time for school stuff. I did take an online community college during the pandemic, but I was able to do everything on my own time and not have to attend stupid dumb Zoom meetings.

Same, I'm glad I got to experience at least a little time before internet and iPhones became required.
I may have hated my childhood, but at least I got to do kid things before being forced to understand things more mature than my age, because all these kids being exposed to the internet since birth is going to have negative consequences for them, and I feel guilty I can't change that for them.
I don't even want to imagine the depression and suicide rates in our future. No action, good or bad, goes without consequences unfortunately. If we thought the nihilism, cynicism, and apathy to everything was bad for gen Z and Millennials, imagine never being off the internet, never being able to truly being able to feel that detachment emptiness being online all the time causes, or never even knowing anything but that.
I wouldn't wish to be them. I used to hate being born when I was, but I got lucky honestly, being born when I was, even if I'm always going to have trauma from it, I got things they won't, because the world is just going to get worse and worse, and more impossible to survive in, and I at least have memories when it wasn't so scary to be alive all the time.
And unfortunately most of the people that are having kids are exactly the ones who shouldn't be, because the ones who aren't going to have kids, or don't have them are self aware enough to know they can't be a good parent, or at least in a healthy enough mind space to realize it's a bad idea when most people today can barely survive by themselves.

I have said "It's the [blank] for me", and like, I know this is exaggerated for comedy reasons, but I feel like I'm not alone here, right? We're like the Gen X between Baby Boomers and Millenials.
You're not alone, but you're not really the Gen X between Boomers and Millennials, you're Gen is going through the same thing Millennials did where there's like 2 different waves (1st wave that were kids without Internet and got dial up around middle school and cell phones and social media more towards college, and 2nd wave that never lived without Internet, cell phones, and social media at all as an example). Despite being in the same gen, elder Millennials and younger Millennials are quite different bc of the tech differences each was raised with. Things keep changing so fast now it seems like Gen Z might have an elder and younger split in their generation as well (whereas Boomers spanned a huge chunk of time, but didn't seem to have as big a difference between the earliest born of that gen and the last).

Cassette tapes are millenial things. I am an earlier gen z and I have seen them 😅. But you can't find them around anymore. So my gen alpha siblings won't understand what cassette tapes were like.
They missed formative years of education and development, I got out of doing my senior project or volunteer hours required for graduation

I think it’s because they are trying to compensate for how harshly they were probably raised or what they couldn’t have as a kid so they OVER do it and let there kids do whatever. I have seen this behavior in my older brother who is a millennial and it’s just annoying. He can babysit but not discipline, he lets my cousins run all over my moms new couches and bang the chairs into my moms granite counter tops 🥲 which are now all chipped and he literally doesn’t get after them for it but I do

i consider 2009-2011(ish) to be the cusp years just because a lot of kids i know born in 2009-2010 (including myself) have much more gen z influence, humor & knowledge than people born 2012+, the difference between a 13 year old alpha and a 10 year old alpha is INSANE
