This is one of the most popular Home Free songs. It was the first song I ever heard from Home Free & I was instantly hooked. It really showcases the talent of these 5 men (their tight harmonies, Tim Foust's bass & Adam Rupp's incredible beatboxing). They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old (about 100 yrs.) & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.
You are the first reactor that I have seen who noticed that some of the members of the group had serious musical training. To prove it you need to watch the video where two of them sing Nessun Dorma. Look for "Two COUNTRY Singers try singing OPERA - "Nessun Dorma" ".
I believe all members of Home Free have musical degrees of some sort or another. Ron Lundquist, the heavier on with the beard, was classically trained and can sing opera, Austin Brown, the other tenor, wearing the hat, was trained in musical theater but sings opera with Rob, but I’m not sure about the other three except to know they all have music degrees.
The two main singers both have musical degrees Rob on the left with glasses did his in opera performance a very good tenor before changing after graduating to country and acapella Austin did his in stage musicals with some opera sections included to help with the voice. Austin has recently left the group after more than a decade he's recently married and wants to reduce the touring and being away from home.
A few facts about Home Free. They are primarily known as a country a capella band, but they also do rock, pop, and gospel. Tim Foust, the bassist, also taught Geoff Castellucci how to reach low bass notes (Tim reaches a E1 on Ring Of Fire and a B0 on Boondocks). A vocal masterpiece by Home Free is Helplessly Hoping where there is no beatboxing, only 5 vocal parts, it's incredible. Great reaction and when you imitated the "nomonica" player, it sounds like you play a pretty mean "nomonica" yourself. 👍😂🤙✌️
Home Free is my favorite a cappella group but Pentatonix is also extraordinary. Suggest their rendition of "Hallelujah", and for Christmas "Mary Did You Know". Both groups won their respective seasons of "The Sing Off" competition and they are good friends.
All are so talented. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range. He can sing lower than here and up with the tenors. Rob (glasses) was trained in opera and has a wonderful voice. Austin (high tenor here) can yodel and has lots of runs/riffs to his voice. Chance (back left) was doing the mouth harp sound and has a great voice. Adam (beatboxer) is super talented. Three of them write music as well. Helplessly Hoping, I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, Thanksgiving Song. So many good songs. Good one Emma!
"O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (2000) starring George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, and Charles Durning (all established names in film) and also starring bluegrass music, such as "Man of Constant Sorrow". In the 1930's 3 escaped convicts have adventures and misadventures as they travel in pursuit of freedom and fortune. Nominated for many awards and with a 4.6 rating from Audience reviews. Very good for your channel or for your home viewing.
They covered a John Mayer song "In The Blood". That is one of my favorite songs they have done. Of course my all time favorite song of theirs is what ever they are singing at that moment.
This is the first HF song that I listened to. They had me from the start. Try their cover of "Bless the Broken Road", "In the Blood", and "How Great Thou Art". Finish them and we will feed some more to you. You might also try Voiceplay singing their Disney movie tune, "Under the Sea". Good reaction.
You have some good suggestions here. If you haven’t heard “End of the Road,” I’d suggest that to hear them cover an R&B classic. Other favorites, in no particular order, and not a complete list: Blue Ain’t Your Color Sea Shanty Medley My Church Listen to the Music All About that Bass (they were much younger!) The Butts Remix (sooo funny) How Great Thou Art With Christmas coming up, Do You Hear What I Hear? and several others After you’ve watched 5-10 of their videos, watch their cover of Mayday - and prepare to be astounded by their talent all over again. Welcome to the Home Fries!
Thank you for your wonderful reaction to the group Home Free. Please consider reacting to their cover of the classic Johnny Cash song, Folsom Prison Blues. Complete in prison outfits and prison background.
Austin Brown, the guy in the center of the like up, left the group recently. After hearing his replacement, I don't see that they've missed a beat though. And they can reproduce this live too.
In the beginning (most people don't hear or don't realize) there is an underlying bass line that goes.... Boooooooom... BaBoommmm quite a few times..... that is done by the bass singer... sounds like a real instrument but it's his voice.
Welcome to the HF rabbit hole. Lots of fantastic content, don't do "Mayday " until you're familiar with the group. A very pleasant surprise is worth waiting for.
All of the sounds are made by Adam Rupp who is their beat boxer. One of the best in the world. You need to watch their video of their song "Butt's Medley " and Austin singing the song "When a man loves a woman"!! They are both incredible in their own ways!!!!!
Sound of Aboriginal "dijereedoo" is really sound of a "jaw harp": a Southern musical instrument, as they're down ina bayou v's ;Down Under! & sound is acapella, Emma!
And the one producing it isn’t the beatboxer, but instead Adam Chance (back row, left) - the last face you see in the video. While I love the video, I wish they’d featured him making the sound earlier in the video.
You'll have no problem building the new channel by reactions to Home Free. Loyal fans will provide lots of views. Read through other comments & saw many good recommendations. I'll add 2 more. 'Butts Medley' is truly unique & good for laughs. If you look at Pentatonix, their 'Sound of Silence' cover is awe-inspiring. It's hard to follow Simon & Garfunkel, but they did it right! Best wishes.
This is sorta off-topic: I really enjoy when your eyes 'smile'. I think the way you express yourself shows a complete engagement with the emotional as well as analytical sides; AKA 'authenticity'. It's kinda contagious, your smile. Also Home Free are a good one to hear a few more from as they don't release half-measures.
With Christmas season coming, you need to see/hear them doing "Do You Hear What I Hear". And now that you have your foot firmly planted in the rabbit hole, do a lot more Home Free. Tim (bass) actually has a 5 octave range that does get shown off throughout the HF catalogue.
**** This will be a HUGH reaction for you. One of the best performances of all times. PLEASE watch this!!!!!!! Beth & Joe - I'd Rather Go Blind - Live in Amsterdam
That is a beautiful rendition of the song. Really enjoyed your reaction and I appreciate your explanations of how the various singing techniques work and the examples you give.
Nice Reaction Emma! 💯 The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. Then top that off with their arrangements that augment the presentation to be "Home Free" owned. They simply had way too much fun producing this song and video presentation. Their entertainment value is top dollar with everything they do. Their customer base receives the best from them every time. Very creative juices and exceptional produced music that keeps our hearts thumping along with smiles and feel good feelings. ❣
Talking about Wow Emma looks Fantastic . Great job with your reaction and thoughts on this song & video from Home Free Man of constant sorrows . If you seen the movie oh Brother where Art thou you recognize this song . Song by George Clooney.
The 3 best acapella groups are Home Free (country and classics) Pentatonix (Pop rock) and VoicePlay (Stage Theater, Video Games and classics). Each are masters of their genres and have hundreds of songs to choose from. You will never be disappointed. Definitely try a few dozen of Home Free's Christmas songs while you can.
Home Free went through a member change in June Austin Brown ( first lead singer left to start a family and work on solo projects Adam Bastien has taken his place. They recently released a new Christmas album called Any Kind Christmas and 4 video s from the album. The Thanksgiving Song Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Let Me Come Home ( Adam Bastien original) The Greatest Gifts Of All ( Tim Foust he’s the bass original)
Rob Lundquist the bearded Teddy Bear is a trained opera singer. Rob and Austin Brown have a video called Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera. Nessum Dorma. You'll love it. They also have a lot of original songs. You have just started down the rabbit hole that is Home Free.
Favorite Home Free: Classic Hymn - How Great Thou Art, Epic Remake - American Pie, Humorous Song - Butts Medley/Remix, Christmas Cover - Do You Hear What I Hear, Christmas Original - Snow Globe, Epic Collab - Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. But you really can't go wrong with Home Free!
Excellent reaction Folsom Prison Blues and Ring of Fire are two good ones to get acquainted with them I subbed again didn’t realize you lost your other one later beautiful.❤️😎🇺🇸
Christmas is coming. Home free has quite the Christmas catalog, including traditional, sweet, and funny. "Do you hear what I hear", "Snow Glove", and "Full of Cheer" are examples.
Emma, as always, you captured the intricate detail so well. Would you please react to their cover of "Mayday", maybe the best arrangement they have ever done.
U gotta GOTTA, watch the movie snd get the soundtrack, O Brother,Where Art Thou? In this vein, A MUST is Colter Wall, live sessions, Kate Mcannon, and Oliver Anthony in his backyard singing to his phone!!!! Rich men North of Richmond, and anything by the sisters, The Castellows!
EMMMMMMMAAA!!! Have you not ever watched the film O Brother where art thou?????? SUCH a great film with great music IN it!! I can't possibly say ENOUGH good things about it! Plus it would give you a ton of stuff to react to for THIS channel......just saying..... There are SO many good versions of this song besides the ones that occur on screen. I know you are a vocalist, HOWEVER, there is a fellar who does an acoustic guitar instrumental of MoCS that is FABULOUS. Martin Tallstrom. Even if you don't feel that it's right for your singing channel, I do believe you would enjoy listening to it.
From the movie "oh brother where art thou" it full of great music from this Era & culture of the south united states in the 20's 30's & 40's WATCH IT you won't be sorry
For Christmas, may this subscriber suggest 4 videos rarely reacted to: What Child is This (6 Home Free members..Austin, Rob, Chance, Tim, Adam, and Chris, Warmest Winters, Silent Night (there are 2 versions. One with just HF, and one with a violinist. I prefer just them), and Away in A Manger. Thank you!
My HF faves are: x Man of Constant Sorrow / Ring of Fire (w/ Avi Kaplan) / American Pie (w/ Don McLean) / God Bless the USA (w/ Lee Greenwood & US Air Force band) / Sea Shanty Medley / Butts Remix (April Fool's Day 2015 release) / Elvira (w/ The Oak Ridge Boys)
Home Free’s rendition of How Great Thou Art is possibly the most moving piece of music I’ve ever heard. The arrangement is fantastic.
Christmas is coming. You will be absolutely amazed at their arrangement of "Do You Hear What I Hear". Stunning!
"Home Free - Folsom Prison Blues" is my favorite. Misty Mountains - Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust is mind blowing how low Tim can go!!!
You are the first reactor that I have seen who noticed that some of the members of the group had serious musical training.
To prove it you need to watch the video where two of them sing Nessun Dorma.

Two of this group recorded an opera aria (Nessum Dorma, I think)
It is on Austin Brown page. Two country singers try singing OPERA-Nessum Dorma
For Christmas check out Home Free's renditions of "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "O' Holy Night", among their many wonderful Christmas creations.
LOLOLOL….I had to giggle…Tim…the bass….talks Bass too 😵💫🙃‼️ He’s got one Incredibly Amazing voice 🙃😵💫‼️
I love their collaboration with an old school country group, The Oak Ridge Boys, doing the song Elvira.
Front singers: Rob Lundquist left side, center Austin Brown, right side Tim Foust bass machine. Back Adam Rupp beatboxer, Adam Chance singer.
A few facts about Home Free. They are primarily known as a country a capella band, but they also do rock, pop, and gospel. I thought the same thing.
"Folsom Prison Blues", & "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget"
Home Free is my favorite a cappella group but Pentatonix is also extraordinary. Suggest their rendition of "Hallelujah", and for Christmas "Mary Did You Know". Both groups won their respective seasons of "The Sing Off" competition and they are good friends.
All are so talented. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range. He can sing lower than here and up with the tenors. Rob (glasses) was trained in opera and has a wonderful voice. Sorry more than 5 octave range. Check out Tim Foust ‐ Come Go With Me. Emma not yet for I want you mind blown after Misty Mountains.
First time I've heard these guys Emma. Very clever arrangement and definitely a Country vibe👍
Nice one Emma😊
They are!
Another great acapella song to check out is The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Nylons who are also Canadian.
"O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (2000) starring George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, and Charles Durning (all established names in film) and also starring bluegrass music, such as "Man of Constant Sorrow". Very good for your channel or for your home viewing.
Try Helplessly Hoping, pure harmony.
Great Home Free from Home Free is a cover of "I want Crazy" which will show another side of Home Free
This song became popular from the movie - Oh Brother, where art thou ?
Tim Faust's solo Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow will blow you away.
They covered a John Mayer song "In The Blood". That is one of my favorite songs they have done. Of course my all time favorite song of theirs is what ever they are singing at that moment.
The heck with the song, Emma is beautiful.🤗

All About that Bass (they were much younger!)
The Butts Remix (sooo funny)
How Great Thou Art
With Christmas coming up, Do You Hear What I Hear? and several others
After you’ve watched 5-10 of their videos, watch their cover of Mayday - and prepare to be astounded by their talent all over again.
Welcome to the Home Fries!
My FAVORITE A-Capella Group!! Sad Austin has left but happy for his new beautiful family 🥰Christmas Album is FLAWLESS as always!
Adam Rupp explained the harmonica. He says he closes the soft pallet in the back of his vocal cavity. i have no idea what that means
Awesome group
Love your intelligent insights! Every time.
Thank you for your wonderful reaction to the group Home Free. Please consider reacting to their cover of the classic Johnny Cash song, Folsom Prison Blues. Complete in prison outfits and prison background.
Sounded like someone was doing a glissando in the chorus part. I was surprised you didn't mention it.
You need to react to Austin Brown (in the middle with the hat & vest) & Rob Lundquist (to his right in the bib coveralls) singing "Nessun Dorma".
You will have to give their version of Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer a listen.
Austin Brown, the guy in the center of the like up, left the group recently. After hearing his replacement, I don't see that they've missed a beat though. And they can reproduce this live too.
I love their rendition of Nessun Dorma. Please review. I have watched it about 50 times. My heart sings every time. I believe you will enjoy it.
In the beginning (most people don't hear or don't realize) there is an underlying bass line that goes.... Boooooooom... BaBoommmm quite a few times..... that is done by the bass singer... sounds like a real instrument but it's his voice.
My absolute favourite: How great thou art.
Just subscribed with hopes for more Home Free!
Welcome to the HF rabbit hole. Lots of fantastic content, don't do "Mayday " until you're familiar with the group. A very pleasant surprise is worth waiting for.
And there are hundreds of videos to watch before Mayday.
thank you emma lovve all your reaction videos
My goodness Emma, I don't know what is more magical....Your beauty or your accent. WOW!
All of the sounds are made by Adam Rupp who is their beat boxer. One of the best in the world. You need to watch their video of their song "Butt's Medley " and Austin singing the song "When a man loves a woman"!! They are both incredible in their own ways!!!!!
Not all the sounds are made by Rupp, the jawharpsound is made by Chance
They're versions of Ring of Fire, End of the Road, and Mayday (i love the Mayday rendition due to the fact Tim Foust showcases his vocal range).
You are very good and well trained: Rob Lundquist, the big fellow with the thick beard on the left does have Opera training !!!
They all are so good!! Tim with that very low range!
Emma, you have such great reactions. You're the Home Free of reactors!
Wow, thank you!
Sound of Aboriginal "dijereedoo" is really sound of a "jaw harp": a Southern musical instrument, as they're down ina bayou v's

@genny5309 You're so right: Adam Chance is that unique-sounding one, & he def' deserves more credit, even singin' nearly as deep as Tim! ⭐👍

This is the song that most people react to. But Home Free has a lot more: Down to the Honkytonk, Sold, Friends in low Places etc.
That is a beautiful rendition of the song. Really enjoyed your reaction and I appreciate your explanations of how the various singing techniques work and the examples you give.
Thank you so much!
@@Singwith-Emmatoday You are most welcome!

You may want to react to John Fogarty of Credence Clearwater Revival. They were a unique blend of rock and country, depending upon the song.
