Mashallah brother I love your channel, I learn alot from my banaadir culture, like the professor Ibrahim said we have multiple identities and there is no contradiction. We are banaadir, we are also Somali. Somali don’t just mean “lamagoodle 😉 “ somali is diverse and the identity is still forming and as banaadir people it’s up to us to take our seat in the table, We are nation within a nation and there is no contradiction. We can’t isolate ourselves from our fellow somalis. there are issues but I don’t know any brothers without issues. We also have Swahili culture and there is no contradiction

@@planktoniser there is Swahili culture on the somali coast. I don’t know if u ignoring or denying the existence of Swahili culture on the Somali Coast. When I saw your thought appears that you lack knowledge about either the Somali coast's geography or its inhabitants. Let me educate you have ever heard Barawa, Mogadishu, Kismayo , especially those two cities Barawa and Kismayo their inhabitant speaks south Swahili language before Cushitic speakers came to the coast.

Yoy may not think so I agree with the good prof. By the way ive studied the case of zanzibar n the fake bloody revolution.

@@planktoniserman where do you get the idea of Swahili culture being a mix of Arab and Bantu. Swahili means the people of the coast it can be anyone. Arab,Indian Persian Bantu Somali. I mean it can be anyone, it’s a geographical identity. I get it it contrast with your lamagoodle qabiil mentality 😉. The macawiis all Somalis wear is a Swahili product, kofi baraawe, national symbol is a Swahili product. You see Swahili culture is deep in Somalia.

I hope that this important interview opens the door to an intensification of the cultural relationship between Oman and the Banaadiri for a better understanding of their historical and cultural relations. Few know that (for over two centuries) the Banaadiri economy was destroyed and prevented from being reborn by the ferocious Portuguese domination. This domination ended thanks to the military intervention of the Omans who first liberated their land and then chased the Portuguese away as far as Mozambique. The Banaadir are very indebted to Oman and for many years they were made to believe the opposite. Oman has also not done much to correct this historical distortion and we hope that in the coming years Omani historians will write books on the long and brotherly relationship between the Banaadiri and Omanis. The Omanis are in possession of many historical documents regarding their relations with the Banaadir and we hope that they will help the next Banaadiri generation to open their eyes.

Great work brother! Please do a video with Prof Lodhi and Prof Noor discusiing the Arabian and Shirazi Persian conquest ino East Africa, where they first landed, and the main reason for their expansion South, and please describe the interactions between Kilwa and Banadir, Somalis and Arabians, when did they decline and who reached east Africa first?
Also, please discuss the Zanj and who enslaved them, and were these Arabians the same as those who came to trade goods instead of indentured labour?
Who discovered the Great Zimbabwe gold mines and established the Sofala region for trade between Somalis, the Arabs and Shirazis?
All these histories are intertwined and sometimes confusing, so much so we think the black Arabs are not African and the Arabians are not African. If possible, please differentiate between Turkic Arabs vs Arabian blacks of Yemen and Oman, similar to how Persia is divided into a black Elamite south and a Turkic north which rules the entire country from Tehran instead of Shiraz or Susa (check the Achaemenid "Immortal Guard"/ Persian Immortals.
Let us not be naive brothers and sisters, even India has black people with straight to curly hair.Disregard your racial sensitivities and attack this subject objectively without political biases.
God bless you brother, black is beautiful 🙏

That Bantu migration (Cameroon, Congo) is a European narrative which has been debunked. Ancestry DNA's proof otherwise. Myself I identify with at least six ethnic identities (varying from North Africa, East Africa, Middle East areas including current Kenyan). Prof. stop spreading divisive words for instance Kenya is a country that includes Lamu, Mandera etc a Kenyan can settle anywhere in motherland Kenya. Why say that Lamu is for Swahili people only? You need to take back your words. People are currently being murdered in Lamu on land issues due to hatred/divisive words spewed by people like yourself. Also Kiswahili language was built from Kingozi language which is a native language to the Pokomo (Wangozi) people (Bantus of Kenyan coast) for thousands of years before the Arabic speakers arrivals. Mwana Mkisi a Bantu leader herself founded a city (Kongowea) on the Kenyan Mombasa coast years before Islam came to their shores. Mwana Mkisi's legacy stands in proud defiance of these colonial narratives. She and other Bantu leaders like her founded city-states on the African coast.

    1. When you listen mjikenda languages and kipemba those languages are just sister languages of swahili,
By those claims you will have to eliminate the Bajuni tribe also. Arabs migrated there and mixed with the locals.
When studying history look at three things people, language and culture… most of the places should have been named in Arabic. Please review your stand, i can tell you that everyone with an Arab decency knows their family tree and origin.
In the first place what brought about the disheartening genoicide in Zanzibar. So who were the Arabs and who were the swahili????
Its true that there are many out of lack of proper lineage are swahili.. they have intermarried alot and mixed with the locals, but all you’re saying is trying to show bias for your kinsmen
