This is my first time in Kazakhstan and I'm absolutely enjoying myself so much! What a city! What a country!! My energy is a little low in this video because I'm super tired, but please don't let my lack of energy dissuade you from enjoying!
The history of ethnic Koreans in Kazakhstan is a long interesting one. They are the descendants of Koreans who lived in Russian Primorsky Krai near the border between Russia and Korea beginning at the turn of the 20th century during the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea. Hundreds of thousands of Koreans who had settled in the Russian Far East were deported by Joseph Stalin to Central Asia (they were territories of the USSR) in the 1930s. The result is that now there are half a million people with at least some Korean blood living in former CIS countries, as well as inside Russia proper.
Thanks for this wealth of information! I have some friends from Uzbekistan of Korean descent and a Russian friend of Korean descent. Now, after reading your post, I have some understanding of their cultural history. Really appreciate this!:)

Kazakhstan looks so nice... clean, chill, and picturesque. Love how diverse your travel gang is as well. Amazing edit too! Yet--you said your wish out loud so now it can't come true... You are now officially to blame for the lack of world peace! The cuisine looks interesting too, I'd be reluctant to try the horse but would have to try it as well...
It's so cool, omg!! Super clean and well organized! People are friendly and the food is good! The horse meat actually tasted pretty good, but it would take some getting used to if I ate it constantly hahah Noooo, I should have kept my wish secret...lol Blast! I felt the editing was a little rushed, but thanks, B!! I love it here...But what about the title and thumbnail? I think it needs some work...

really? In 1921 the city was renamed Alma-Ata, for its Kazakh name, Almaty (literally “Father of Apples”), alluding to the many apple trees in the locality.
